The issue is that METARs report visibility as '10 miles or more', but how is the 'more' defined? To be fair, MSFS often renders visibility as much too clear and can underplay atmospheric effects. In XP12, I use a plugin that lets me set visibility to a specific value above 10 miles that suits my preference. If visibility drops below 10 miles, XP12’s live weather takes over automatically. July 30, 2025Jul 30 He's spot on about the constant smog look in what should be partly cloudy weather. If it gets taken care of I may just give XP12 a revisit. As for cloud depictions I get why some would prefer XP12, MSFS does have a bad habit of "too many cotton chunkies" with even slight cloud formation depictions. No problem though because a little 'HazeAdjust' addon allows you to set the max visibility in XP12. Once visibility drops below ten miles, XP12 default life weather takes over.
