If i dont want su16...

It’s worth noting that the Map Enhancement tool in MSFS may no longer support high-res textures, whereas in XP12 it still does. XP12 does require some free addons to boost its default scenery, but combined with its strong flight dynamics and weather model, it’s a solid alternative, especially if SU16 ends up reducing texture quality. I use both sims to get the best of both worlds.

As a licensed pilot with hundreds of hours in GA aircraft, I think I am a fairly good judge of flight dynamics, and I have never enjoyed flying anything in XP. YMMV

  • New to this? Updates for MSFS have always been mandatory once they are released and there never was a way to circumvent that.

Look on the bright side. At least you can refuse the "upgrade" to MSFS 2024

Totally fair. Real-world experience brings a valuable perspective. XP12 feels more natural to me in some areas, especially hand-flying, but like you said, YMMV. That’s why I like using both.

The major thing that has turned me off XP for years, is the haze that is everywhere. Flying in constant smog-filled air,  why isn't there a way to turn off the haze in areas where it shouldn't be?

The guy just said he uses XP12 as well as MSFS 24 and he enjoys both, give him a break.

Is there a way to stay with su15 even when su16 comes alive? For the moment, msfs2020 as for me now is absolutely amazing and stunning! And i am afraid that su16 (might) "mess up" my, in my opinion, perfekt sim as is of today...

That’s being looked at now. The issue is that METARs report visibility as '10 miles or more', but how is the 'more' defined? To be fair, MSFS often renders visibility as much too clear and can underplay atmospheric effects.

In XP12, I use a plugin that lets me set visibility to a specific value above 10 miles that suits my preference. If visibility drops below 10 miles, XP12’s live weather takes over automatically.

He's spot on about the constant smog look in what should be partly cloudy weather. If it gets taken care of I may just give XP12 a revisit.

As for cloud depictions I get why some would prefer XP12, MSFS does have a bad habit of "too many cotton chunkies" with even slight cloud formation depictions.

For the OP maybe it's time to pull the plug on flight simming for awhile.

It helps me to do a hobby realignment besides its still summer.

Its a pity MSFS is often the other way - too clear too often.  No problem though because a little 'HazeAdjust' addon allows you to set the max visibility in XP12.  Once visibility drops below ten miles, XP12 default life weather takes over.

Why does every thread need to become a comparison? Both sims are great, it’s tiring to read this back and forth on completely unrelated threads. Please stop.
