For the OP maybe it's time to pull the plug on flight simming for awhile.

It helps me to do a hobby realignment besides its still summer.

Or maybe it is time for Asobo to pull the plug on updates that break things, like the one almost three months ago that caused 2020 not to shut down normally, and still isn't fixed.

  • New to this? Updates for MSFS have always been mandatory once they are released and there never was a way to circumvent that.

Look on the bright side. At least you can refuse the "upgrade" to MSFS 2024

  • No

Its a pity MSFS is often the other way - too clear too often.  No problem though because a little 'HazeAdjust' addon allows you to set the max visibility in XP12.  Once visibility drops below ten miles, XP12 default life weather takes over.

Ok gonna see if it's VR compatible.

Thanks!

We had really cool night lighting in a pre-Alpha of 2020 that didn't have the smudgy brown sepia mask that cover desert regions in all sims ever since.  I'd love to regress just for that!

And WHY on earth should I "pull the plug"??? Beacause I ask a simple question? (*word not allowed*)

Having a bad day? You quoted the wrong post by the way 😉

The opposite! A day better than any other in fact! Quoted the wrong post? Maybe I did, by accident... For whatever reason that matters. You did get the point regarding the comment "pull the plug" anyway right? I still do not catch the point why I should "pull the plug"...(???)

There is no best sim.

People who only run one sim and laugh /cringe at others are shuttering themselves off from objectivity. They CAN'T see how some devs do some things better than others and will never be able to request improvements in their preferred sim. They can't decide before their virtual flight what's important today and choose the appropriate platform. They'll never have the BEST planes of every type for example. They'll only have what's available and they'd better like it or lump it.

Out the box I've NEVER seen any sim come close to immersive or believable. First thing I do is install addons to shape it to my personal interests. Scenery and realistic planes top of list.

If you only use one sim your comparison opinion is immediately invalid. If you can't see the other side of the fence you don't know on which side the grass is greener 🤔😉

Exactly.  Why should I care what anyone else uses?  Go use Sierra Pro Pilot for all I care.  That was based.

*MSFS 2020 is the best sim and MSFS 2024 is cartoony and full of stutters.  MSFS 2020 is for real alpha men.

Saw this, laughed, and found myself picturing the new guy in the Village People - big moustache, leather flying helmet, and joystick in hand!

As for me, happy with 2024, 2020, XP12, XP11, Aerofly FS and I'm even considering getting my FSX system back in to play and buying a Pave Low for it. Also got a P3D or two on my system along with DCS and a couple of others, but don't use them.

Beats me why people insist on evangelising their own choice. Even then, you can praise "A" without needing to diminish "B" and all the rest. They've all got benefits and problems.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Not only that... the pre-alpha was the full package also in terms of draw distance and texture sharpness.

Enjoy these videos from 2029 (ops, 2019)

The major thing that has turned me off XP for years, is the haze that is everywhere. Flying in constant smog-filled air,  why isn't there a way to turn off the haze in areas where it shouldn't be?

Not always hazy 😁

Absolutely agree 100%. I'm a flight simmer like you and don’t feel the need to stay loyal to just one sim. Someone shared a review video of the Fenix A320 Big Update over on the XP12 forum—no problem at all from my perspective. If you stick to only one forum, you might miss out on something valuable for your simming experience. As soon as I saw the Big Update video, I headed straight over to the MSFS forum.

Above, I posted a screenshot in direct response to the comment, “Why is XP12 always hazy?” Well, it isn’t. If that post helps someone enjoy their hobby more, I don’t see the issue.
