CSS 737-500 Classic is out

I am glad they put winglets on it.  I may bite once the 300 and 400 are done and it goes gets a few more updates.  It will depend on how well it tracks with the community.

Winglets are overrated. I have been flying the PMDG 737-600 for years, and the lack of winglets has never bothered me

I would certainly be willing to pay $5.00 for a month to try out any addon I am interested in purchasing to see if I actually like it or not. That would have saved me tons of money through my years of

  • I will never call PMDG overpriced again. 🤐

  • There is something a little off-putting, for lack of a better word, to be asked to pay upfront for a product(s) that I cannot enjoy, not even in early access, that are not even likely developed yet. I

Yeah it was terrible and since then the developers have been releasing updates and bug fixes on average every 2 weeks. Little disengenous to call it a money grab when it's being actively improved on.

Well.. that's not entirely true.

For everyone who purchased our aircraft by subscription between 30.05.2025 and 04.06.2025, when there were server issues, your licenses were automatically extended until 05.07.2025.

What is not entirely true? For the first 3 weeks you couldn't even start the APU or engines. The Ganges and FMC flashed so you couldn't read or use them. It was 3+ weeks before they addressed those issues to start with. So why not extend the license another month insteadof a lousy week?? Yeah that's right it's about $$$

I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988.

Windows 11 Pro loaded on a 4TB Gen5 Crucial T700 SSD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD, Ryzen 9 7950x3d, AS Rock X670e Taichi Motherboard, Gigabyte Gaming RTX 4090 OC 24GB, 64GB (2x32GB) Viper Venom  DDR5-6000MT/s, MSI 32" MAG 321UPX QD-OLED 260hz 4K Gaming Monitor.

Based on the dates provided by Lucky38i above, it seems that they did extend the licence by a month.

Without a doubt, the absolutley worst piece of garbage I have ever experienced/seen/flown during my 30+ years of flight simming! The visuals are ok, I can give CSS some credit for that, but the rest...😡😡😡 A total and utterly complete disaster!

The part where you made a claim about only getting a week extension. I specifically quoted that, did you somehow miss it?

Yeah I agree with you, never denied the problems during the first month's release.

If it was simply about the money then we wouldn't have seen any subsequent bugfixes, updates and active support in the discord. Did you also miss the part when I pointed this out? I get wanting to vent about a terrible release and you're within your means to do so but atleast try and be objective, there's plenty other examples from devs when it was strictly about the money.

Especially considering unlike other devs we here have the option to essentially trial the aircraft and assess it's state before dropping full price on it, how many other devs offer this may I ask?

I think the sheer negativity thrown at these developers is wholly unreasonable. I remember watching the release and the absolute vitriol being thrown at them revealed a side of the flight sim community that I frankly found disgusting. It's fascinating seeing the residue of that hate in this thread too.

Yeah there were issues at release, and there are still a bunch of things that need improvement. But as @Lucky38i mentioned, there were a number of fixes already and there's a really positive momentum with improvements.

The developers have been open from the start that what you are buying into is an ongoing project that will cover the 737 classics. You're not obligated to buy it, they are not forcing you to spend $120 on it. I reckon it will take these guys a couple of years to deliver everything they set out to do, and that's okay.

If you're in any way interested there's a reasonable $5 sub for a month – see what it's currently like, gauge if it's up to your standards. Or not – just watch some YouTube videos. Or just sit back and see how it comes along / if these guys will pull it off.

Also on the price – considering the scope, I don't think the full price is unreasonable. I'd say it would be on par with the PMDG 737 family in terms of models / extras delivered and it works out cheaper.

I think I'm going to wait and see how their 2024 compatibility comes along and how long it will take to get the -400 variant ready. Then I'll get probably go for the full price.

These are fair views, hopefully if CSS delivers you’ll give them another chance or perhaps try the monthly or annual rentals.

Why exactly should anyone consider renting a plane if that rental doesn't go towards the full price if you then want to buy it ?

I don’t see the need to publicly complain about a Flightsim release. Vote with the wallet.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

You know.. I'll make sure to ask my landlord why I don't own a portion of the house that I'm renting or why I don't own a portion of the cars I've rented in the various countries I've been to. Jeez all the movies I should be owning when I rented DVDs from blockbuster, what a shame.

As to why, I can't tell you why you should or shouldn't rent, that's pretty much up to you.

Media and housing are areas where abusive rental practices have sadly become endemic.
Would you like the same to become normal in flight sims as well ?

Is this ragebait? I don't know what world you live in where renting has suddenly changed definition. I'll rest my case here in fear of you doubling down somehow.

LOL, you can't cope with someone thinking that a dev (one, you seem to go out of your way to defend  ?) has policies that are anti-consumer and should be rejected as such ?

Abusive rental practices in a flight simulator addon?? Where exactly do they have anyone over a barrel?

In this case by charging a ridiculous amount of money to buy what is currently a single airframe and encouraging people to throw their money away by renting.

All they have to do to stop abusing people is to say if you've rented for 3 years you've bought the product - that would still be more expensive than buying once up-front but you would have something for all the money you've given the devs.

Cope? *******, If you want to say I'm white knighting because I presented facts I honestly have no idea what to tell you. None of my responses have been emotive

I really can't see how giving a consumer the choice to essentially trial an aircraft is anti-consumer. Meanwhile most common place devs require that you pay full price whilst also offering no refund policies on said purchases.

This whole situation has to be taking the word not allowed lol, you name is "Matchstick" for goodness sake, the person who liked your post is "Stonedoor" (How obvious can you get). You seem to be brazenly ignoring the entire basis of what renting stipulates. You're literally acting your namesake and making inflamatory comments. I'll give it to you, I got a good laugh with how well setup this all is, I wonder how many alts you have.

I said before I wouldn't comment but I'm definetely stopping now, that was a good one.
