... and are flying complex demanding aircraft what's your maximum VRAM in use, and perhaps rough average VRAM in use?  I ask because now I rarely ever hit 14Gb of the 24Gb on my 4090, averqage is maybe 12Gb, and this is a reduction of maybe 3-4Gb over when I first installed SU1 4 months ago or so.  I assume this is from the so called optimization of VRAM use for systems w/o greater VRAM amounts on board.  Overall performance is very good but I wonder if it's deteriorated some from when more VRAM was in use.  Also, I notice a correspondingly greater amount of system RAM is now in use.  Just a curiosity mostly, and I do wonder if folks with 36Gb of VRAM are seeing a similar scenario (for those with the identical tagged elements above).

Mine's always bellow 8GB, because my 3060 Ti couldn't get above it anyway...

Average around 5.5 G, sometimes peaks around 7 GB...

LOD and TLOD fixed at 75%

Resolution is FULL HD (1920x1080).

Flightsimming since 1992

Mine is usually up to about half full (9-13 GB out of 24GB), generally 4K/Ultra, currently using a fixed TLOD of 200.

I need to really push it though.  I want to load up ini A300-600 and do a 4-hour flight into ini's KJFK and see how it does.  I want to do "full boat", with AI and everything.

Specs in sig.

Sim is set up locked at 40fps (in sim settings) default resolution 3440x1440 External framegen

Settings high/ultra with ai substituted for AIG+Traffic controller

Resize Bar off (VRAM) saving action

Last nights flight from MKJS-KMIA

Vram at start of flight at the gates for MKJS 12 to 14 gb

Vram in cruise 11-12GB

Vram after landing and arriving at KMIA gates 15-16GB intermittently triggering the resources warning.

I could be an outlier considering my GPU brand but that's my experience. If i re enable Resize Bar the usage goes up to the point where in some cases it may trigger the resources warning at the start of the flight if the airport is resource intensive enough but of late these resource warnings are coming up at the end of the flight at the gate when i switch to an external view.

Are you using the AmSim KMIA, LatinVFR KMIA, or default KMIA?

Interesting, you're considerably higher res at 4K and yet showing about the same amount of VRAM in use.  Seems like there is little need for anything more than 16Gb at this point.  I was hoping someone with 36Gb would chime in to see if it's based on ratio of VRAM to RAM.

Well as I said, I haven't really tested it with a hi-resource plane into a hi-resource scenery...at least not to any great extent in '24.

I *have* tested it with a bad scenery, at totally blew through 24GB vram.   That just goes to show how vram usage can vary so much depending on the scenery (primarily) being used.

Sounds like a bug or leak though so is very atypical as in it's never happened here.  Truly it's almost never over 14Gb.  I think this VRAM optimization has cost those with VRAM headroom, that is my sense anyway just comparing native frame rate maximums in the past 4 months since installing 2024.  But, it's still okay, thankfully for Gsync.

I just fly.  AutoFPS has transcended all my interests/concerns in tweaking performance.  Now I just fly.   😃

14.6 gigs on 4K is about where mine hovers at with the FNX at large airports with medium-high FS settings and vsycn on at 60 externally.  There's an issue (many complaints in general on all games) with the 50 series cards, IRRC, as well as with the sim itself (known issue in general).  4K is pretty much out of the question for me unless ASOBO (hopefully) finds about 5 gigs of savings in vram.  For whatever reason the 50 series cards are just sucking up everything they can.

On your 4090 I guess it's really not an issue, although I've heard people with the 90 series cards vramming out.

On 2K, I'm around 12-13 gigs vram, which is OK.

I didn't think I'd have this issue when I got my new PC.  I have a feeling I'm going to have to get either the new 5080 with 24 gigs or a 5090.  Not really happy about that.
