Come on. Let's not get silly. Everybody knows that the best flight simulator ever was Flight Unlimited 3 (with the FU2 San Francisco scenery installed)

I BETA TESTED THAT SIM!  No kidding.  Thought it was the Bees Knees.

i completely agree. fs2024 has been a painful journey, but it continues to improve. i dont usually use betas, but i installed the latest su3 and it has been pretty much pain free. perfect? absolutely

3 months?! Hopefully I'll be back flying the PMDG 737 by then which is much nicer.

Well, I love junk then 🙂

Praise ASOBO for making junk like this... This junk has turned out, after more than 25 year of very active flight simulation, into my preferred flight simulator, ever !

I know it's one amazing piece of junk that works perfectly every time up in the I-Fly MAX 8, Fenix 320, AS CJR series, GSX, SLC, APL, and BATC.   If only all 'junk' was as excellent as is 2024.  I can run 2020 any time I care to, but that hasn't happened for many months now--just no point in it, at all 👍

Glad iFly are giving the EFB some love, it was a tad rough to navigate.  Had some great interactions with the developer and it’s nice to have a 737-Max.

MSFS 2024 has a few issues (controller interface, LOD, shadows), but my CTDs have only occurred at KLAX and I was able to solve that by removing 3 statics options/features for the airport.

SU2 has been pretty stable all things considered with the following add-ons:

  • Orbx (almost all the products for both 2020/2024)
  • Contrails (bunch more airports)
  • iniBuilds (aircraft and airports)
  • BeyondATC (work in progress but no major issues yet)
  • AIG (so many airlines)
  • Navigraph (very well integrated)
  • FSLab, PMDG, iFly, A2A, and several others
  • GSX (love it’s integration)
  • TDS 750

The only issues I’ve ran into are on the hardware side, sometimes a USB controller (Thrustmaster suite) will become jerky resulting in stutters in MSFS 2024 (data issues on the USB-C to PC and can be detected in Win11 Games Controller screen where one calibrates devices) which requires a disconnect/reconnect to clear up.

If I were to hazard a guess, many issues being reported for MSFS 2024 are:

  • Not enough VRAM triggers CTD (as stated in another thread 30GB VRAM usage)
  • Not enough RAM (I’ve seen 45GB usage) CTD
  • Overclocking CTD

I have NOT migrated anything over from 2020 into 2024.

SP1 seems to address nearly all of my major wishes for this add-on. That's great. I honestly wasn't very impressed with my purchase, so far. But it has potential.

When SU3 drops, I will give MSFS2024 another try. I'm in no hurry. Until then, I keep enjoying my Fenix in 2020. 🥰

cheers,
NiIs U.

That is the main reason I'm enjoying Fenix 320 more as in general prefer Boeing.  But yes, I-Fly's EFB is just kind of crude and poorly thought out.

Is it worth picking back up yet? I did one flight with it with a friend, couldn't get the AP to follow any sort of instructions in roll mode, and it was super pitchy and unstable in all AP pitch modes. Had to fly the entire thing in CWS and then gave up. Didn't really get any help in the Discord, very much a "must be you" or "maybe hardware" response - disappointing.

I imagine this would have been before the control lockouts were fully implemented, so spurious input spikes sent by hardware would be picked up and over ride the AFDS.  That was corrected within a week or two of release.

And the iFly max has been out almost a year without one update.

??  There have been several updates to this aircraft, rather significant ones in fact.  If you're still on the release version, you'll really want to use the iFly manager to update to the latest.

No it isn't.

or example the only way to enter PAX, Cargo and Fuel is with sliders that you just drag.

Uh that's not true for Cargo and Fuel, you can click on the entries and type in exact numbers.

For PAX you have to set the weight for every seat entry so it's not as straight forward.

Still nothing regarding the wx radar. Wish they would reconsider.

I would find it rather refreshing if they remained the only hi def add on developer who refuse to cave in on the matter and simply not implement a WXR until Asobo finally get their act together and offer an API that makes tilt possible and flying through red rain cells actually dangerous.

Until then adding a wxr is just wasted development time better used for something else.

I'd rather have no WXR than this useless half measure we currently have.

Interesting. I’ve tried that before with no success. That would have been my expectation after all.  I’ll give it another go and thank you.

Well that’s not what I expected, but it’s workable to a fashion.  What I looked for and expected was a clickable single field where totals could be entered.  For example in your fuel example to the right of the slider a value of 1091 can be seen.  If that was editable I would agree with your premise but what you are showing is both convoluted and not intuitive to the device IMO and so my take on the EFB remains…”meh”.  Thanks for the education and Blue Skies.
