September 18, 2025Sep 18 I've flown many variants of the Cessna 172 but it was the B version with the manual flap I liked the most and was possibly the easiest to fly ; so it's good to see this. It never had those ghastly yokes though.
September 18, 2025Sep 18 Don't those yokes come straight out of their C170? The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
September 18, 2025Sep 18 It's hilarious how it's called a "Carenado172" not a Cessna 172. Many web sites, YouTubers, and Influencers are calling it a Cessna 172' Something it is not.

Not sure what you mean - that those addons are higher quality than this 172 will likely to turn out to be? I think it's a given that a Carenado addon will have great visuals but will be relatively light in the systems and flight model fidelity. Personally, this means I'm probably not going to be interested, but if someone wants an early 172, I guess there aren't many alternatives. Be nice if A2A did a 172 though...

Somebody finds it 'hilarious' that this is being called a Carenado C172, which is the same as calling the Aerostar the A2A Aerostar, was my point. Unless I am also missing their point. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

If Carenado call it a 'Cessna' 172 they put themselves in danger of breach of copyright, hence 'Carenado' 172. The same applies to Fenix, Inibuilds, A2A, etc. The exception seems to be PMDG but they have their much touted licencing agreement. If this is hilarious you must be an absolute hoot at parties.
September 18, 2025Sep 18 I doubt any of you would notice difference flying Carenado 160-180hp 4 cylinder Lycoming or 145hp 6 cylinder Continental . They do feel different IRL. That would be a great project for A2A or Blacksquare. For Carenado; however, other than great visual rendition you won't get anything else. Yes, indeed hilarious! A hoot????. Nope not really. So why even call it a "172". They are implying it is a Cessna 172! In the past Carenado called a Cessna a Cessna, a Beechcraft a Beechcraft. They apparently now see a path to more profit by not doing this any longer. I believe it would be far more authentic with "Cessna" markings on the product.

As others have said, it's very common for devs to avoid direct references to brands, for fear of copyright issues. Their calling it "Carenado 172" instead of "Cessna 172" doesn't have any bearing on the quality of the product though surely? If it doesn't have any Cessna branding on it, I'm sure someone will make a branding mod, on FS.TO. I really don't understand your position that "they're calling it something it's not". It's made by Carenado It's a depiction of a 172 They're avoiding the use of the brand, Cessna What is the root of your concern? September 18, 2025Sep 18 It's a beauty! 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
September 19, 2025Sep 19 Well the price is right. It takes the GTN satnavs and although I thought that the PMS version wasn't working a restart fixed that. TDS version is fine. Just flown a circuit at Manchester Barton from where I flew a C172B and only the solid arrival disappointed. I do remember the early versions in Real Life being easy to land , so perhaps the lack of undercarriage springiness is correct but I was looking for a bounce!. That said, I've not given it a proper workout yet but I'm glad to have it. Edited September 19, 2025Sep 19 by nippa Correction
September 22, 2025Sep 22 For the record, I have been flying this plane a lot for several days. Really good experience. In the wind, it blows all around, not on rails at all. I don't have any issues. The default pilot position is perfect, not way down to low like on another Carenado plane. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
