Almost 100% convert to the Marketplace ...

Featured Replies

Something strange happenned to my install yesterday, it was rather slow, like never before, so I decided to reinstall FS 2024 and all is fine now, but I also decided not to install ** any ** external stuff, well, other than the Navigraph database updates...

All is now what I purchased from the Marketplace or default.

I would like to convert my PMDG Purchases as well as iFly and even FSLabs to the Marketplace, but it's not yet possible I guess? Same with Inibuilds 350 - would rather have it in my Lybrary than having to manage it from the Inibuilds Manager.

I also have that World Trees height mod, and that's about all... For the time being and although I may miss the Fenix and the FSLabs, it'll stay default / Marketplace only, at least while I'm in the beta branch.

The 340 has flawlessly updated - I guess because I didn't find where to check the streamed version #...

When you buy from the Marketplace, Microsoft takes a cut. If you were able to transfer external purchases to the marketplace, the external vendor would either have to retroactively give a cut to Microsoft (the external vendor won't want that), or Microsoft would have to forego their cut (Microsoft won't want that).

For now I will stay with the default Airbuses then, more than enough for me, honestly...

Yes I can miss the 777 300 when it is finally properly updated for FS 2024, the iFly MAX and the Fenix and FSLabs buses too, but I'm enjoying the defaults enough already 🙂

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the PMDG 777 was updated for 2024 also the Fenix's.

Another reason to buy outside the marketplace direct from the creators.  Did not know about this quirk in 2024.  Was planning on switching soon from 2020, but will have to take into account the outside addons cost to duplicate what I already bought from the 2020 marketplace.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but I think you're talking about transferring purchases from the 2020 Marketplace to the 2024 Marketplace? These do transfer - in essence, there's really just one Marketplace for 2020 and 2024.

This thread is about transferring purchases made from third-party vendors (e.g. PMDG products bought directly from them) to the Marketplace. This is not possible.

Indeed, as @martinboehme puts it, but TBH, I will probably go a Marketplace only way from now on, with the exclusion of already purchased products like:

- Fenix 320

- PMDG DC-6, 737 and 777

- iFly 737 Max

- FSLabs A321 and A321 Neo

- ASFX

- RealTurb CAT Areas

Regarding ATC, I really like FSHUD, and also BATC ( right now I do prefer FSHUD), but would rather use native ATC and AI if they didn't have some irritating bugs and a significant impact in performance 😕

Interestingly enough, I actually just saw a developer confirming their willingness to honor purchases made in the marketplace. They simply requested a picture of your marketplace page with the purchased item, and also showing your username, and they would give you access to a download from their website.

Hopefully we will either see more of this, or Asobo will get their act together and start updating purchases on a human rather than a geological timescale.

I can understand the OP reasoning for just purchasing from MP, but for me I think the MP sucks the big one and if I never have to deal with it, would be fine with me. Unfortunately, developers like Citation x and Vision Jet and the P180 only sells there so I'm forced to do business on the MP. I have not purchased the new A340 because I won't do business there. I'll just wait until INibuilds put it on sale on their site.

3rd party purchases cannot be transformed into marketplace purchases, but so what? Because they can be put into msfs2024 in My Library. I see almost no advantage of having a marketplace 2020 purchase, or instead a 3rd party 2020 purchase, being brought into 2024. One is about as easy to do as the other. Just turn them on in My Library and then they are in the game permanently. Everything is in My Library that either you or MS puts there. 3rd party 2020, marketplace 2020, 3rd party 2024, marketplace 2024, all of these can be put into My Library and then each of them either turned on or off with a mouse click. One is as easy to turn on or off as the other.

I agree with @jcomm – it makes managing the install so much easier.

I have 300 sceneries across 2020 and 2024, 99% of them were purchased through the marketplace. I had to reinstall 2020 a few times, and 2024 once. Thanks to the marketplace all of those were a complete non-event. Just do the reinstall and all my content is set up already.

Otherwise I would have had to go through Orbx, Contrail, Simmarket, FS.to, Aerosoft, and countless other non-portal sources just to get things re-downloaded. Which is something I had to do back in the days I was using other sims.

I do think other add ons are better bought outside of marketplace, but that's more to do with access to updates.

I'm struggling to understand this too.  With 3rd party purchases, I get to manage my add-ons rather than MS, and I get updates in a timely fashion rather than waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for updates to hit Marketplace.

If at all possible, I purchase directly from the developer if they offer direct purchases, because I know I'll get updates the fastest and I know I'm directly supporting that developer.  If not, I go to one of my preferred vendors.  Marketplace is my last choice.  My only Marketplace "purchases" are freebies, and add-ons that I can't resist that are only available there.
