What, among the following "business models" would you accept or even prefer, for the future of MSFS?

Well, this blind pilot loved flying the Dassault Falcon 7X in the good old days of FSX.

BUt I'd love to get my hands on the successor which is the DF8X or even better, I've been hearing a huge roomer all summer long.

I heard through the grapevign that there's going to be a DF50 for 2024.

Is this true?

If so, will it be a three engine jet like the DF7X and or 8x?

Also, will the range and sealing be like the 7 and or 8 x as well.

This is my answer to your question.

I hope this helps out.

  • Present system works fine. People have the choice of marketplace or outside.

  • Happy with the present model.

  • I think a subscription (beyond GamePass) would just whittle away the mass market and we'd be left with US again, the harder-core people....and we all know how that worked out.

You might not be aware of what's been happening over at DCS these last eighteen months but their business model is in trouble.

There’s nothing special about the last 18 months.

Eagle Dynamics just needs to start charging for the game just like every other sim dev does.

Keep it as it is please.

Subscription model is fine for things that NEED constant updates - for example Navigraph because Nav Data goes out of date every month and needs to be updated to keep it valid. Generally, while frequent updates are nice, when I invest in some software I expect it to work regardless so I would not expect to keep paying a recurring cost to keep it working.

Are you kidding? Eagle Dynamics, or rather the guy who owns it, has had a massive falling out with one of their major content creators.

This has gone to painful litigation, claims, counterclaim and huge dissatisfaction within the DCS user base and other content creators. It's an ongoing car crash right now.

Not a theme to be discussed here, but I was completely unaware of that @DD_Arthur...

Have to go to their forums and check, specially right now that the C-130 J is in the line for release...

Oh, I’m quite familiar with the situation and the parties involved and most of the publicly available information

while ED is playing hardball, it’s legit and that’s just how the real world works  🤙

There is a series of videos of a Zoom call between ED and Razbam.

quite illuminating and worth the time to watch.

id be interested to hear your perspective, I guess over in Hangar Talk so we don’t run afoul of the Mods 🤙

in sum, I’ve no concerns regarding the C-130 and look forward to diving deep with it. Should be an excellent complement to the BBS Dirty 30 in MSFS. 😎

ETA: you can find the videos in Reddit DCSExposed.

It is my understanding that the main part of ED's business is MCS, not DCS. Totally different type of customer

AFAIK, they’ve never shared that publicly, but it would explain an awful lot of why the simulator roadmap has turned out the way it has over the years.

we know the A-10C module was used to train USAF/ANG pilots, the Mirage 2000C is used by the AdA, the Mi-17 seems to appear in some foreign training collateral, the CH-47 was premiered in a very specific subvariant used by the Italians, but released in a more generic  F model, and even the Yak-52 was reportedly created for a private customer.

oh, and of course the current ED-Razbam kerfuffle is directly related to an Embraer Super Tucano for the EAF…

All really interesting to nerds like me 😁

Ecuador.

the developer lives there and asserts he has contacts there who can give him deep access to the aircraft.

curious why you asked about Ireland…? They don’t operate the Super Tucano, afaik.

You know, Ireland = Eire and all that, but I don't think they call it the "EAF" there.  I'm not 100% up on every air force.  I was pretty sure Ecuador did have Super Tucanos.  Ireland has PC-9's now that I remember it, that's what I was thinking of.
