Pilatus PC12 NGX - is it good?

Featured Replies

What about the Asobo PC12 NGX - is it good?

Anyone is flying with it?

Edited by ilpagaia

I use it with the beta (engine) mod at flightsim.to

its pretty good.  Not fantastic but good enough for a default aircraft.  I wish it had better sounds though.

I think the Honeywell avionics are so different from Garmin that many simmers never adopted it sadly.

But it flies fairly close to real world numbers.  And there are a ton of Honeywell epic tutorials relating to the real avionics on Honeywell's website - you only have to register on their site and it's free.

Also TimHH and I did quite a few repaints:

It's not like an SWS payware pc12 but it's pretty decent for a default aircraft.

Yes, it’s a good default plane and I fly it often in career mode. Nothing wrong with it for the price!

I agree, for a default aircraft it is not bad at all. At the moment I use it quite often and I enjoy it

Your talent is a gift from God. How you use your talent is your gift back to God.

The Honeywell avionics will certainly be improved over time. All Carenado planes are pretty.

I'm a bit confused about the roll rate. The SWS PC-12 rolls quite slowly and this version feels like a fighter jet in comparison. Perhaps the NGX behaves like that in real life, but I haven't seen anything that would suggest that's the case. I haven't read anyone ever complain about this, so maybe it's just me.

I think it's ok.  I fly it once in a while and tend to enjoy the avionics, which really aren't a bad depiction. It'll do a VNAV descent quite while and fly a RNAV GPS approach all the way down to minimums.  Like Ryan, I wish the sound was better but it's quite a unique aircraft in the sim with those avionics.

If it's "PC12" I want, then I'll fly the SWS, but if I want to challenge myself with unusual avionics, I'll take the NGX up.

I would assess it as "slightly better than the average default aircraft".

I tried it these days ... great textures, great avionics ... but sounds are terrible and a lots of items in the cockpit is not fully working (in my case also the flaps lever and the parking brake !!!).
A good start for this airplane but need to be well developed

Is thereda workaround for the mouse control of the throttle? Without, I wont be able to use the beta range...

I just flew it from Wanaka (NZWF) to Milford Sound (MZMF). It worked pretty well. The sounds are bad, almost non existent. I wished one could, like in the good old days, just link the sounds of some other aircraft. Also, FLC is terrible. It will go to like -5,000 fpm when you want to descend, but VS is fine. Doors are early MSFS 2024, i.e. you can open it from the inside and you end up with a closed door on the outside. From the outside, you can only SHIFT+C. The mod for propeller beta worked fine.
Overall, not bad. I enjoyed it.
