Odds of Gulfstream licensing the G800 for MSFS or XP?

Featured Replies

Slim to none. They have always been VERY protective, that's why there hasn't been any other Gulfstreams for any of the sim so far.

i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200,  RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

I would have thought a great model for a flightsim with official backing would be great marketing for the brand...sure no simmer is going to rush out and buy one after trialling it in MSFS but what does Gulfstream loose by allowing it?

...Maybe a sanctioned Global Express MSFS version would change their minds.😜

It truly is the most ridiculous thing. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pavanti. Etc.

Premium products who rich people crash and “tarnish” brands all the time with tons of licensing and marketing deals to promote the brand. Yet here’s Gulfstream with their thing.

That long-lived urban myth is not exactly true.  I've been flying the AKD G550 in XPlane 12 quite a bit lately...the Polish dev behind AKD has developed both a 550 and 650 for XP.  The G550 was released three years ago and has been steadily improving since--it did get off to a rocky start, but at present it isn't half bad for those who want a Gulfstream.

If you have to ask, then you likely cannot afford it. 🤣

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Does Gulfstream have a good legal team?

They would have to be pretty financially desperate if they went after an aircraft dev team for MSFS or XP.

I might have access to a GS but not the 800 … different type of “movers and shakers”.

They do.  They used to be part of Northrop-Grumman, but are now owned by General Dynamics.

You've got that the wrong way round;

If you're a pixel plane developer would you risk the thousands of dollars to mount a defence against a potential law suit by Gulfstream?

Depends on several factors, country of origin being an important one and their laws where you may not need to respond to legal threats.

That would amount to Russia or China. I would imagine you could add Burma, North Korea and Iran too.
