Bluebird 757 Release Date Window Shifted Backwards

Yes and I don't think everyone is going to rush to spend a day or two re-installing 2020 to get the 757.  I absolutely think it will impact them and I've seen "maybe" a couple of people here talking about re-installing P3D for the 747.  It's a niche corner case, certainly not critical mass...

Heck, you already see the impact of companies whose products are only available to purchase in 2020 MP for use in 2024...  Of course it impacts them.

Agree to disagree, I think releasing something for 2020 in 2026 or 2027 3 years into its successors lifecycle is missing the boat.  You seem think this will drive the masses back to 2020.

Agree to disagree

It is probably worth considering that (apparently) it is a lot easier to develop an MSFS 2024 version of an MSFS 2020 aircraft than it is to develop an MSFS 2020 version of an MSFS 2024 aircraft. Bluebird Simulations can tap both markets if they complete the MSFS 2020 version first.

  • And still no plans to pivot from 2020 to 2024?  Man these guys have not only missed the boat, they missed the whole ocean...

  • The same claim each time a new sim version come along. I'm also sure plenty of people still used FS2004 when FSX came along. Guess how long that lasted...

  • First and foremost I don't want to come across as anti BB or rooting against them in any way.  I think the work they have demonstrated looks phenomenal and have been yearning for a good 757 in FS sinc

Fair enough. People do absolutely rush to reinstall a sim to use aircraft's but whatever let alone a day or two because it doesn't even take that long. You've seen how many people were unhappy about PMDG stopping 2020 updates. Yes I agree agree to disagree.

Anecdotes aren’t market trends. The slice of users reinstalling old sims and buying old aircraft is tiny...think 1–2%, tops. Nostalgia brings people back, but they usually already own the birds they want. Very few are dropping $75 on a legacy plane for a legacy platform. It's certainly not enough to formulate a market strategy.

Again, you're assuming the majority of the market uses MSFS2024.  According to ALL the public data, the majority of the market still uses MSFS 2020.  Thus, BB strategy seems sound and supported by the available data.

Fair but I would add there is a lot of data that is not publicly available in addition to the fact those numbers are ever evolving/shifting so 3 month old datA is already stagnant.

I would add I was/am still part of the 2020 population that responded to Navigraph in favor of 2020 however as I said earlier I also personally think SU4 is a fundamental shift.  Resolving MSFS's Achilles Heal of the Main Thread Issue leaving modern GPU's hovering at 40-50% usage and unleashing the raw HP of a GPU is like when P3D went from 32-64 Bit.  Fundamental architectural shift that all other things like add-on availability being equal just changes the game...

No one stuck with P3D v2 and OOM errors once it was available as a 64 bit architecture.

Like everything there are multiple factors in play.

Being BB has now pushed to late 2026

Just to clarify for those who may not have read the entire thread: BB haven't said anything about a change in when they anticipate releasing. The OP was having some fun with the fact that a) BB said a while ago that they would release the 757 before GTA 6, and b) the release date for GTA 6 has now slipped.

Of course, it's possible that the release date for the BB 757 will also slip, but they haven't made any recent statements about this. Again, the only news here is the entirely unrelated fact that the GTA 6 release has been postponed.

I just want to make that emphatically clear.  I wholeheartedly support them and if as @ryanbatc says is true and one of them just lost their house then that is absolutely devastating, far supersedes Flightsim and thoughts and best wishes...

@martinboehme fair play and thank you for calling that out.  With that said, I have been fairly consistent in my commentary and opinion that releasing any flightsim release in 2026 for MSFS2020 first is behind the curve.  When in 2026 just amplifies the impact.

@Christopher Low totally fair and I think if we are talking about back last Q1 when MSFS24 was still maturing and even ini backpedaled and released the 350 I think it made TOTAL sense...  The further we get into 2026 the less sense I personally think it makes.  Even Stalwarts like you and I will probably be looking to move over if you have your new system and the PMDG 737 and I have Chaseplane LOL...  If they can move us over they can move anyone 😉

Cheers everyone and best wishes to BB regardless, we ALL need a good 757!!!

You're the one getting the intention of my posting 😄👍
Just a little fun post as I found it quite amusing that BBs 757 is the first thing that comes to my mind when I read GTA6 is delayed isnt it? 😄

I'm obsessed with the 757 and "they" are bluer than ever... 🥚🥚

I guess that we need to be patient.

It'll come when it's ready and we'll then forget the time taken to publish it as we enjoy flying it.

Happy to wait for the 757 to be good (don’t have a choice!).  Once the PMDG NG and chaseplane move over to 24 I’ll probably to so too.  Waiting patiently(ish)
