Getting Ready For the IniBuilds L1011!

Last time I flew on the L-1011 was on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Frankfurt. I was on military orders and economey was full so they bumped me to business elite.

  • Same here...but it was a military charter from Naples, Italy on an ATA L1011....about 20 pax on board...we all sat up front, LOL.  Flew a World Airways DC-10 over there (and was just as empty). T

  • I love the Tristar and flew from Manchester to Goa in one in 1997!  But have ini made any recent comments to suggest a likely release window?   Ie. Did I miss it?

  • I actually forgot they were doing this one, such a beautiful aircraft.

I worked these planes as an A&P for decades and did many a cockpit test hop, I’d absolutely be thrilled to have one in my sim. But sadly if it’s for 2024 I will be stuck as my PC is old and can’t afford a new one.

Jack, please do yourself a favor and give v2024 a try for $1 on GamePass.

I find that my performance in v2024 is every bit as good as v2020 is. And to be clear, I don’t have a great gaming rig by any means

the improvements and new features have, for me, been entirely worth the cost of the sim.

I think the sim devs, Asobo in particular, have really done a fantastic job at continually optimizing performance such that there’s no real need to upgrade hardware these days.

Thanks, I posted my specs. My PC can't even run Windows 11.

No, ini stopped 2020 dev on new planes after the A350.

They need to fix the A340 bug under the right wing that has a texture problem and also the front wheel texture which is spinning and still hasn't been fixed, before they jump to another project.

2024 is win 10 compatible, unless something has recently changed:

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/12702272798364-Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-2024-FAQ

in terms of hardware, you’re within spec, so I’d expect you to be able to successfully use 2024. 🤙

Thank you. It was very kind of you.

It's a very special aircraft for me, and I can never forget a flight, from Ponta Delgada (LPPD) to Lisboa (LPPT) in an old Air Luxor L-1011-500 that was used when the SATA 737 had a technical problem and couldn't make the flight.

I asked to visit the cockpit and ended up making the whole flight seating in the observer chair behind the captain, next to that big big side window 🙂

Landing at LPPT at night was unforgettable !!!

Tri-Jets on both trips...pretty cool I thought.

It was probably the most complex of the early wide bodies with sophisticated lift control.

Climbing out of Paris one Thundery night and with the lights flickering , I saw the ceiling move in the opposite direction to the floor.

I know about flexible wings but flexible fuselage. That was a British Airways example and my last flight on L1011s.

Wow, that's really interesting. I'll have to do more research into that

Your spec is better than mine. I run Win 10, & MSFS 2020 & MSFS 2024, on separate SSD's.

After MSFS 2024 SU4 I have noticed it is much smoother.

As regards scenery clarity, I find some parts of the world appear better in 20, & others are better in 24.

I fly 20 when there is an aircraft there that is not available in 24, otherwise I would be flying it in 24.

The beauty of 24 is that you don't have to load GIB of data on to your SSD, most of it is streamed, but you need a reasonable internet connection. My speed varies from 144 mbps through to 800 mbps, & seems to be affected by the time of the day & season. For instance in Summer, with all the holiday makers in the region it will drop to 144 mbps.

24 is still usable at 144 mbps, sometimes I will get a warning saying that resources available can't match what I need & I should alter my settings. I never do & haven't noticed any performance degradation.

If you can try 24 you may be pleasantly surprised.

How many times is it going to be pointed out, that the issue isn't on their end?
