FS2024 New user Extremally poor performance

I've come to the conclusion that the A350 and frame generation are the sources of the problem. As soon as frame generation is enabled, the mainthread takes a massive hit. No matter what the aircraft. GPU drivers are fully up to date. Why would frame generation be causing such issues?

If 2X FG is enough, and you have an Nvidia gpu, then I would try this: turn off FG in MSFS. Turn on Smooth Motion in Nvidia app. It will double your frame rate. At least it does for me (indicated by Riva Tuner SS fps readout).  (The Dev Mode readout won't show the double, but that is false, it is truly doubled if RTSS shows the doubled number). And for me, smooth motion causes fewer issues and problems than using native FG inside the MSFS options. There's no wobbling when panning the outside view and so forth.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

  • Your fps counter clearly shows the problem: you almost over the GPU VRAM budget ( see the yellow message ), because your settings are too high and you are close to VRAM exhaustion and when that happen

  • Just ran through this and the results seem promising. I also disabled Smooth motion in the Nvidia app and re-enabled frame generation in the sim. A350 on the ground at KMIA with loads of AI traffic. N

  • Do you really have the monitor plugged into the 5080 and verified that you use the 5080? This looks like using the iGPU to me...

I did't like what I read about smooth motion so I use and like FSR3 Best.

Maybe I'll try it when I save enough for a 5070ti.  🤑

Try running at High instead of Ultra, then try raising individual settings but keep the memory well within limits. Use a dense airport.

I don't have anything set to ultra apart from off screen terrain pre-caching. Everything is either medium or high.

I've turned frame generation off. I seemed to be making the situation worse. I'll give smooth motion a try now. It's frustrating because I had none of these issues with FS2020. Even lowering my resolution to 1440p isn't making any difference.

OK, Smooth motion works great on my 4070 (not ti, not super).

Tell chatgpt your msfs2024 gpu and cpu and ask it to generate a usercfg.opt file. In a few seconds it will present you it's suggestion. Reply by asking if you can get a download version. It will reply with a download link. It will be a usercfg.opt file.

Sometimes a weird setting in your msfs options is screwing things up, but hard to find which setting is the messing everything up. Chatgpt's version probably won't have those hidden faults.

So the peak memory allocation (peakallocmem) value in the FPS display that has exceeded the PC's 32GB of RAM won't cause performance problems?

I mentioned this in an earlier post and now I'm curious what it means if nobody else thinks this is the cause.

The answer to your problems here is:-   Inibuilds.

Other than the A340, they just cannot get their products working with acceptable performance in MS2024.

Just this evening I bought the Inibuilds A300-600 'Premium' and I am seeing 12 FPS where I'd get 50+ in comparable complex airliners.

Try with another developer's product and hopefully you'll get acceptable results with MS2024.

Rest assured, it's not FS2024, it's something bizarre with your configuration because your testimony is flat out atypical.  But frustrating as heck especially when things were well in 2020.  I'm sorry if I missed it in your story but did you reinstall FS2024 yet?  And is HAGS enabled?  HAGS off will likely kill performance or at least did here when I did a recent test to see what would happen.

Thought this might of worked for a brief moment, but no lol. Even ChatGPT seems to be stumped with this one.

I still have FS2024 installed (maybe not for much longer at this rate). Been sitting here for the last 8 hours trying to get to the bottom of this. Im about to start ripping my hair out! I do have HAGS enabled.

Im noticing now, the sim is fine unless I start panning the camera around or moving the aircraft. At the first sign of any movement, the mainthread takes a hammering and goodbye FPS over 20.

Been there done that!  Not w/ 2024 but elsewhere.  How long has it been since you did a full blown reinstall of Windows?  IOW, start basic w/ the latest chipset drivers, clean GPU driver install etc.  Your issue points to something gravely off.  If it's been a while and you don't have zillions of programs to reinstall it would be tempting.  Your controller settings are saved in the cloud so reinstall of MSFS2024 would be quick.  I bring it up because for the 8h you spent you would been well thru a complete reinstall of everything.

Just ran a few tests.

First test, I loaded up the INI A350 on the runway at KMIA and left it there for around 15 minutes. Everything started off fine. After around 10 minutes, my mainthread started to take a serious hit, which brought the sim to its knees.

Second test, frame generation off, empty community folder, default 172 on the runway at KMIA. Sim remains stable, no FPS hit.

Now, I've installed the INI A300 and introduced it to the same scenario. Been sitting here for 20 minutes. Slight FPS hit. But no mainthread issues.

I've come to the conclusion that the A350 and frame generation are the sources of the problem. As soon as frame generation is enabled, the mainthread takes a massive hit. No matter what the aircraft. GPU drivers are fully up to date. Why would frame generation be causing such issues?

I wouldn't reinstall anything because it appears that you have figured out the problem is the iniBuilds A350.

If everything runs fine with the default Cessna 172, then it's obviously the iniBuild A350.

Did you try the texture resolution to medium or even low? that should clear up VRAM.

Use Windows Task Manager to monitor RAM usage (not VRAM). If you're close to 32GB your PC will be swapping stuff from RAM into swapfile and this will destroy performance.

Check with different aircraft.

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

you should reduce off terrain caching from ultra and reduce texture res .   With A350 inibuild , i ve got to launch msfps addon to reduce terrain/object lod to stay at 35fps befor frame generation in dlss quality.  i ve also a 9800x3d and 5070ti.

this plane is really a system killer
