February 13Feb 13 Author I do not recall being angry in the slightest when I discovered that the cost of the MSFS 2024 versions would be a bit more than a "couple of cups of coffee" (which for the record is a term of phrase that could be used to mean "not a lot", as opposed to being taken literally). I think this has more to do with some members of the flight simulation community having personal grudges against PMDG for no readily identifiable reasons. I think this has more to do with some members of the flight simulation community having personal grudges against PMDG for no readily identifiable reasons. It's by the by now, but there's a subset of people who were disappointed not because they are "haters" but the exact opposite. I like PMDG, I own and enjoy pretty much all of their products including the entire 737 range. But it's undeniable that they have flaws as a developer. So many others have surpassed them in so many different aspects in MSFS and that gap is only widening. I see what JF is doing with their upcoming A300 and the visual quality is shockingly good every time I look at it. And not just quality, but their pro-consumer stance, just lovely. Similarly, every time Fenix does anything it's impressive. Even inibuilds, for all their stability issues, has a great energy about it. There was a lot of talk from Robert that PMDG changed drastically for this new 737 release. That they took a deep hard look at where they were and really worked hard at reinventing themselves. Raise the bar to where it should be. And I bought into that hype and got ready to be absolutely wow'd. Except that just never happened. It's just...fine? The new 737 for MSFS2024 is a good product. It's an incremental improvement, but it feels exactly like the same-old same-old. And I'll pay the upgrade fee to get the range back, just doesn't exactly fill me with delight to do it. Anyway, that's my long two cents. Edited February 13Feb 13 by Georgleboui

Well to be fair MS didn't tell everyone that the upgrade would cost 'a couple of cups of coffee'. Kind of a strange comparison. In any case, a 'couple of cups of coffee' is a weird way of saying 'not a lot' when the upgrade price is not 'a couple of cups of coffee'. It the upgrade price was in line with the 600 upgrade price I would agree with the coffee thing, but the 800/900 were a little more than that. Also, PMDG stated 'from the ground up'. I believe that seeded some of the anger people feel. Like Georgleboui said above, it is just 'fine' - same as the old one. Rehash of old code etc... Combine that with the staff and forum being what it is, then there will always be some push back from parts of the community. Don't get me wrong. I have all PMDG's stuff. I am not a hater, but now they have competition and need to be a little more careful IMO. Some other stuff out there is truly starting to shine. Harry K.

February 13Feb 13 Folks: On a lighter note, this morning, I picked up a Coffee (with an extra espresso shot) today from that well-known franchise around here, plus a Blueberry Muffin, and just about to start another flight with my newly acquired PMDG 737-900 ...🙂...while sipping the Coffee... Meanwhile, my (MSFS2020) 737-600 (minus the use of EFB in MSFS2024; everything else works fine for me) is sitting idle in the hangar for now. Enjoy the MSFS2024 736, if you got it.
February 13Feb 13 Author My new 737-600 is waiting for a slot to open up in my flight list. I tend to do everything in sequence, and I have two 737-800s (passenger and freighter), the 900ER, and a 777F already active. I am sure that the wait will be worth it After having spent the last three weeks trying to recover from my hip replacement operation, I am starting to feel well enough to think about resuming my virtual airline pilot career Edited February 13Feb 13 by Christopher Low Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
February 13Feb 13 I think you should be probably resting some more...Oh well... Anyway, aren't we all sometimes...not being able to ignore the (irresistible) beckoning of the sim and the favorite a/c therein... Have fun with the (new and improved) Baby Boeing 737-600 in MSFS2024, when you get to it.

Whatever framework they've been using seems like hammering square pegs in round holes.
