Not the simulator itself, the ridiculous XBOX App sign-in requirements if one changes their email password.

I changed my email password today and fired up MSFS 2024 and get XBOX prompted to enter my email ... but due to a long standing bug (since 2024 was released) the dialog box where I enter my email will not take keyboard input ... so I'm unable to authorize MSFS 2024 to load.

The recommended solutions of sign-out of MS Store and XBOX App, then sign back in doesn't work (makes no difference).

The only way I was able to make it work was with copy my email and the just rapidly keep click on the email entry text box in the XBOX App dialog until by pure luck it eventually pasted into the text box.

This bug is 2 years old (actually make go all way back to 2020) and a major show stopped ... as in, can't authorize so MSFS 2024 will not load.  Pretty sure I reported this on the official forums before years ago.

Venting, but the solution is janky at best.

I've changed my email address very recently too and I had no problems with XBox/MSFS logins. IIRC, only changing my MS/Windows account was necessary.

I didn't change my email address, just my password.  I change my passwords fairly frequently as good security policy.

What happens is MSFS 2024 starts to load and the Authorization message comes up (lower left) and then a dialog that prompts me to enter my email?  Problem is, I can't enter any text in the TextBox where it wants me to enter my email.  I click in the TextBox and it flashes the default text and I'm unable to input anything?

I think it's related to my Win11 PIN and TPM where my passwords are stored encrypted ... MSFS 2024 doesn't seem to be aware and two dialogs/windows are in contention with each other (one window trying to be top focus over the other in a vicious loop).

Do you use Win11 PIN approach to security?  PIN is a more secure process and easier to manage as the passwords are encrypted using the TPM module.  The irony is the is Microsoft's approach and encouraged under the more recent versions of Win11 ... yet their own software doesn't seem to work with it.

It's complete nonsense to have to sign into so much guff just to play a game, not just Microsoft but nowadays a lot of gaming titles do this, mostly pointless as well.

Sorry, missunderstood ...  . But the principle should be the same. I use PIN only. But for my MS account I have a password, which I did not change. No password manager.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same bug here, but when it comes to the login window that won't let you write anything, what I have noticed is that there's something that forces the cursor / selected window element to go down, as if somebody was constantly pressing the TAB key to jump from a field to another. In fact, if I keep pressing the UP arrow, then the cursor kind of stays in the email text field... but fights me with all its might 😄

The ultra fast click + copy-paste is indeed the only solution. And yes, I'm seeing this bug since at least a year or two, it's not related to MSFS2024 but to Windows itself (I'm on Win10, by the way...)

Actually, it seems it's related to that login window taking the inputs from the plugged-in controller, and unplugging these controllers temporarily can solve the problem ?

I had that problem big time when setting up a second system recently. After much faffing around, Google AI revealed a whole bunch of stuff about this. In my case, it was the controller issue - apparently the Honeycomb stuff causes this most often. Disconnected all my usb stuff and all ok. Absolutely crazy stuff. I know systems are more complex under the covers than they may seem, but  .   .   .

I moved to Steam because of this several years ago - couldn't work out how to sign in for two days.

CPU Ryzen 7800X 3D  RAM 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz GPU GEFORCE RTX 4090
Monitor AOC AGON AG352UCG UltraWide G-Sync @ 3440x1440
Internal Storage 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD
External Storage Three 4Tb HDs

I can't login to the MSFS website. The cursor disappears in the sign in box, so I'm unable to enter anything.

I’ll have to try to unplug all the USB controllers next time and see, great tip Thank you!  But there is what looks like my PIN prompt window behind the XBOX login window.

I’ve reported to MS/Asobo official bug forum but I don’t hold much hope since this is such a LONG standing bug and IMHO a pretty significant bug since it doesn’t let one play the game they paid for.

I purchased thru Steam so the login shouldn’t be required at all … sure, maybe if I want to buy from the Market Place (which I never do since that entire UI is the most bizarre interface I’ve seen in a long time and obviously designed for XBOX and only XBOX).  If I ever do want to buy from Market Place then (and only then) prompt me for my MS account when and only when I want to buy something from the Market Place … NOT when I start the game/sim.  Same applies to multi-player, when and ONLY when I do a multi-player session prompt me for my account credentials.

Microsoft can do some good things, but sometimes they produce absolutely rubbish leaving me with offensive initials not allowed is this horse S … T!

Do you have a Honeycomb Alpha?  Disconnect and retry.

Intel i7 10700K (OC 5.0) / 64GB DDR4 3600MHz CL16 /4070 Ti Super / SSDs / 660watt PSU / LG27GL83A-B  1440P IPS G-Sync Compatible / Noctua NH-D15 CHROMAX / Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo

This Xbox App issues for PC users bother me.

Being on Xbox for the last 5+ years, I have never had any issues with my Xbox/MSFS login. Typically, I just enter a PIN on the Xbox Home Screen ("Who is playing?"), whenever I wish to start a new MSFS session (I think the PIN part can be also bypassed), and then I am on the MSFS home screen ready to go...

I do not recall ever needing to use my Microsoft password for MSFS, but I'm not exactly sure how all this works for PC users.

No, but I do have a bunch of Thrustmaster stuff (throttle, rudders, boeing yoke) and XBOX controller and several Stream Decks.

Use ALT+ENTER to put the sim into windowed mode. It will re enable the curser, and you'll be able to fill out the fields to sign in. Cheers.

EDIT: I know this works for MSFS 2020- Not sure about 2024.
