I was thinking of here in UK I know of airfields in the middle of nowhere where there is nothing atc-wise until you can perhaps contact a Flight Information Service. I was watching a video yesterday of a chap in Cornwall who just pulled his aeroplane out of a large shed and took off. No radio, nothing. Seems perfect. Rob Jones.

On the other as it's a discussion on ATC in flight sim, the problem is solved if you don't want to talk at all to anyone 😉 Yesterday, I flew from San Francisco Intl (KSFO) to Half Moon Bay (KHAF) which is CTAF/Unicom. With the competitor of BeyondATC ON, I heard a Challenger and a Citation passing their messages on CTAF. Ok, the whole true story is that they call everything for runway 12 but taxi and takeoff runway 30 😉 There's still room for improvement in this AI traffic's calls. But at least, they were activity on the field and on the frequency. Edited April 1Apr 1 by vbazillio Vincent B. April 1Apr 1 May be the pilot did'nt see very well the windsock at park, and moving on taxi he chooses the other ! happens in real live some times ...lol very well simutaded 😄 Edited April 1Apr 1 by supersym i9 14900KF 64 Gb DDR5 @ 6 Ghz CAS 32 Asus Apex Z790 W11 64 bits pro sur Kingston FURY Renegade 2 To, MSFS 2024 sur 2 ème Kingston FURY Renegade 2 To, RTX 5090 Alim Asus Thor 1600 W Gold Ecran Samsung G9 57 pouces 8K WC AIO ARTIC liquid freezer II 420 Boitier Gigabyte 3d mars https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEFAk464aSg22aGFZ2LxeFg/videos
April 1Apr 1 At "uncontrolled airports," the pilot uses the radio to broadcast his/her intentions. The Pilot is trained to listen and even ask what runway is in use based on winds or other factors. The pilot must also consider the traffic pattern and altitude and be able to effectively broadcast position. At some airports there are traffic patterns and wind indicators that include a windsock, wind T, or tetrahedron. If there's one thing hat the video shows is that most of the time IFR is much easier than VFR when it comes to being the PIC. MSFS

It's real bad luck (and I can't imagine SI creating this intentionally) that 2 planes announced taxi to runway 12 and finally takeoff runway 30 without noticing the CTAF. No way. It could happened in real life but it's 2 real huge pilots errors. Not to mention that this field has a AWOS. Edited April 1Apr 1 by vbazillio Vincent B. April 1Apr 1 I'm not sure if this is a typical simmer thing, but I've spent much of my sim time learning how to fly airliners under IFR, and now I'm working 'backwards' learning how to fly a GA aircraft under VFR. The great scenery and ground detail in 2024 and some excellent aircraft models from A2A and BS have increased the appeal of GA flying enormously, and hopefully BATC will add some convincing ATC to the mix. April 1Apr 1 once i started batc a while back and I've loved it since.
