"the community" likes some irony from time to time, in light of the RTX 5090 (no extra value for VR users over a "lousy" RTX 4090) and leaks about the upcoming RTX 6090 😀

And how high is your monitor refresh rate again?

On my lousy 4090 with a 144Hz monitor I was able to run 3x and get around 100 fps with everything ultra and BATC traffic going. I did not notice anything abnormal except that the FPS moved around more than usual. I would say that eventually we are going to see an official update from NVIDIA making this available for 40 series cards (and below?).

my "really" lousy TV monitor does only 60 Hz, but that's besides the point since I fly usually only in VR anyway where FrameGen doesn't exist at all. the news is "250 fps is now possible at 1080p" thanks to a tiny 28 MB "version.dll" piece of software. seems Jensen Huang was as amused as we are when he read this thread. The point is those FPS can't be displayed on whatever device you are using unless the refresh rates is greater or equal to the frame rate. So on your TV no more than 60FPS are possible to be displayed and in a headset like the Rift S for example no more than 90FPS.

 

Not to mention that they are not real frames. This whole AI interpolation has so many drawbacks in quality, that it is really not comparable to real frames. In many cases it is good enough, but we all have learned to live with the artifactst that come with it.

just like videos that demonstrate Cyberpunk running at 500 fps on youtube (reduced by youtube down to 60 fps max).

it's not about MY monitor nor MY fps, I was discussing the new fascinating possibilities in general, and to assist users with lower, shall we say "somewhat lousy" GPUs so they can finally enjoy their monitors max refresh rates without paying an obscene price for an RTX 5090/4090.

But even if you just have 60Hz monitor, with 4x FG you can cut the actual frames down to 15. That should take a significant load off your GPU, or at least that is how I am thinking. 

To date, I have not needed any more frames in MSFS 2024. It is VRAM that I need. Is there a multi VRAM generation utility available?

at the current pace of development, I am sure there will soon be a utility that will compress and enlarge and multi-double your VRAM.  currently requires still hardware, but that's what Jensen Huang back then said about MultiFramegen too. 😀

If you are happy with your 270FPS, good on you!  I have a 60Hz Samsung Monitor and couldn't be more content with my setup. I have MSFS_AutoFPS pegged at 59 (to give me 1 FPS Headroom, that's right 1 FPS headroom 😉)! No complaints here.

It's still pancake 2D though....😝
