  1. The monkey says "thanks for the e-mail address!"Sorry, but I won't register with any company forum just to enter a contest. :(
  2. I'll second that! :( While it may have it's 'issues' it is still a good source of information, and if you are serious about modeling you really need to get into it.
  3. http://www.lionheartcreations.com/LHC_Support.htmlTook all of 1 minute to find. :(
  4. Why not try the free one? You have nothing to lose but a little time :(
  5. The way I did the wing for my Pietenpol was pretty easy. It works great on a constant-chord wing, but I'm sure you can adapt for the areas toward the wingtip. I started off by just modeling 1 wingbay (the area between 2 ribs). I then sliced that section so that it is in thirds. Then I grabbed the vertices in that middle area & scaled them on the z axis to pinch them in a bit. Note that you don't grab vertices toward the leading & trailing edges. Now you have a module that you can clone as needed, and you just start adding them together! There are some finer points to how I did my wing, but that is the basic process. I hope it helps!Good Luck,Robert
  6. I have modeled the effect you seek. My wing had a constant chord, and my 'system' works well for such a design. What are you working on?
  7. This is an interesting topic. Having spent many hours flying I agree that in real life you really do not see the prop...you see a slightly darkened area where the prop disc is. Many people don't have a first person perspective to go by, and they go by what I call the 'movie' effect. For prop textures normally the alpha layer controls the transparency. You might try darkening that layer...
  8. The bigger concern here is the fact that the individual in question was going to do a freeware version and a payware version.
  9. BRAVO! :( Impressive sound! I grew with an organ and taught myself to play a number of songs by ear. I love classical organ...the effort required to play one is fantastic, and something I have always admired. Thanks for sharing this!
  10. First off, I wish to say that this is a very well done model. That said, there is something here that bugs me. He has stated that there will be a payware version...and that causes me to feel that there is a lot of advertising going on here, which is a big Avsim no-no.
  11. The textures used for the dimming are titled 'g_nite_***', located in the root texture folder. A quick look at them should explain everything...be sure to save a copy of the originals someplace safe first! :(
  12. The update has new models, improved VC, and corrected some avionics problems. I would be willing to bet that the installer is unchanged, and frankly I have no idea if the OS is an issue, but I will find out. There have been a few promising exchanges here trying to resolve the OP's problem. I have no personal knowledge of the correspondence that occurred with him in the past. I am waiting to see if some of the replies given here earlier bear fruit before I try to do anything else. Like I said...I wrestle Gmax, and have nothing to do with the installer :(
  13. Nothing I think...but it has everything to do with the OP getting the most current version of the plane, and it was a question that was asked. I model for FSD. I have nothing to do with the installer part of the show, but when I state that I a team member in my sig that means that I will try to do what I can when I see someone having a problem with our products. You never did explain your comment...
  14. I have no idea what you are trying to say with that... :( On the .dll issue...If you are trying to install with FSX running that will generate an error in the installer. That happened to me! :( Also, if you made your purchase in March then you have the older version. The update came out April 11.
  15. Lmaire,Did you get the upgraded release? On the screenshots... I have an FSD section in the Avsim gallery where I have been posting pics of the things I have been working on. I will work on getting some new shots of the Commander, JetStar & MU-2 into it.
  16. Hi Brian,It is not really possible to modify the .mdl file...you would need the actual files used in the design program itself. Unfortunately those are not usually made available.
  17. Paul by chance does your plane have a short wingspan? I am working on a small (21' span) plane, and I have had that issue for a long time. There is apparently a bug that does that if the lights are too close to the eyepoint. You will find that if you shift your eyepoint away from the lights they will appear! I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't.
  18. So I did some experimentation with my settings, and lo & behold going to just 2x AF & AA cleaned it up nicely! :( But...here is the thing. How many potential customers actually know this? How many of them are able (or willing) to fool around with video card settings? If I don't use mips I know it will look good for any user.An interesting quandry...
  19. Thanks Mike. Because it is important to me to get it right I will continue here. I am thinking that I could learn something. :( Here is what I have done. I took the texture used on my fuselage & processed it with mip maps. I then slewed it next to a stock AI plane. To my eye it would seem that I am indeed having an issue...the Mooney doesn't look too good either! :( I have an ATI HD2600 Pro video card, w/512 MB of ram. According to the CCC I have mips set to high quality. I have AA & AF set to 'program controlled'. I guess I know a lot more about Gmax than I do about FSX :(
  20. It is a common practice among all developers...hence the original question! I was fully expecting that this would get thrown up as an FSD 'flaw'. Thanks for not letting me down! Based on this comment I am wasting my time trying to get anything out of this thread, and I will not be posting anything further here.
  21. I have seen the same thing over the course of at least three or four different video cards (and may drivers) over the years, and it has been discussed in designer forums many many times...
