  1. Geez. I doubt that there is enough popcorn on the planet to keep me occupied while I read about all of the different ways you can read tea leaves here. But I'm working on it one Jiffy Pop at a time! :(
  2. The cost would depend on a number of things...there are many variables as these planes are amateur-built and as such have many differences between any given two. Things like instrumentation and engine hp can have a pretty big effect on the sale price. A quick look at Barnstormer's found 5 for sale with a price range of $20k-$38k USD.
  3. For those of you that have been members here for a while you may remember posts I made of this project as I worked on it over the years. The Thorp T-18 is a very popular home-built aircraft that first flew in 1963. My father built his first one in the late 1960's, and I was his faithful co-pilot. Over time he has built 3. This model is of the current Thorp we fly today, and is a very detailed rendition of the real plane. It features 3-d gauges, a high-definition VC, many custom animations, and the landing light effect is modeled so that it will illuminate objects on the ground. It is available in the Avsim file library here.
  4. Is it possible that you are misinterpreting the wind direction? Remember the direction given is the direction the wind is coming from, not blowing to.
  5. Did you add the needed entries to the aircraft.cfg file?
  6. You funny guy!Yes, I am glad that the B.S. posts got yanked. They had no place here. A mod obviously agreed! :(
  7. In the time since I posted this it would appear that many of the threads it was aimed at have been removed. Thanks!
  8. Considering the number of threads in this forum that end up like this maybe the name should be changed from "Flight" to "Economics/Political Science". :(
  9. I am unaware of any detailed GA airports for San Diego. I live close to Gillespie Field. We have a hangar there, and I did start working on it back in my FS9 days. I still have the gmax models, and I was able to get an airport layout plan from the county that is very detailed. Perhaps after I get past the current projects I'm working on I'll get back into working on KSEE.
  10. There's a reason you are not getting many response here. There are not a lot of FSX modelers to begin with, and most of them are already busy. The ones doing payware are pretty much all working for known groups or themselves, and the ones doing freeware are not going to be interested. Even if you did find someone I wonder if you have any idea what a payware quality model will cost you to have done (probably more than you think). At any rate, good luck with your project.
  11. GUESS is the key word in this thread. I honestly cannot fathom why this will continue, but I know it will! :(
  12. The thing that brings me so much amusement is the fact that people are hot to make statements like this based on very preliminary peeks of something that is still a very long way away. Frankly, that also applies to most of what I have seen in many other threads here. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen this show before :(
  13. The model only has a CHT gauge. To lean the mixture pull the knob until the engine just starts to sputter, then push it in enough to clear the sputter. I'm glad you enjoy the plane...I was the one that did the FSX conversion for Lionheart :(
  14. Owen, thanks for the insight. What you have said pretty much lines up with what I have been hearing, and to me means two things...1. I won't be getting it. FSX currently gives me a good enough "experience". I can already build whatever I want in FSX, and I'm not going through another learning curve requiring me to use cryptic SDKs that ultimately require many hours in the design forums working with others to figure out how things really work. 2. Freeware most likely won't exist as FSX already weeded out a lot of authors. Making the job harder won't fix that, and unless there is some provision for them that eliminates the "QC" check and any possible fees to host freeware ultimately the sim as we know it is doomed. This would also include a situation where MS allows a feeless upload but then still charges a fee for the end-user to aquire said freeware. Frankly freeware types got this hobby to where it is, and while I really hope I am wrong I see this as the direction FS is going.Think about it...without the grass roots freeware folks working together to build up the hobby over the years you would not have very many Payware houses around, not to mention new versions of the sim. How do you think those Payware guys got started? To give some idea of where I am coming from...I've been flying the sim from the original version that played on an Apple II computer, and I've been modeling since the original Flight Shop came out in the mid '90s.
  15. Or even better...let's wait until it's well into beta and close to actually being released. Until then all of this is pretty much pointless.
  16. To clarify my question about freeware...I am asking you what is it's future with Flight? In the system you steadfastly claim is how it will be I'd be willing to guess that the writing is on the wall for truly free additions to Flight.
  17. Uhh...you know - freeware? All of the great stuff you can get from the file libraries here and at other FS sites? Have you never looked at the free stuff in the hobby? "Pay to play" is going to seriously limit the content you will get to choose from.
  18. So what does your crystal ball tell you about the freeware side of the house?
  19. Let's think about this in terms of the big picture. If I were working on a product to sell to the broadest possible market would they actually know there was such a thing as sloped runways, and more importantly...would they care?
  20. You can bet that there are marketing types involved with those vids. Let's not forget what they did with that DX10 preview shot for FSX...remember? The one that turned out to be an artist's rendition and not from the game at all! They would never try that again! :(
  21. While I am currently keeping my opinions regarding Flight to myself I must say that I do find it somewhat bothersome that you seem to feel that you can tell others what is acceptable to post here. I'm sorry, but fair dialogue should allow for opinions both pro & con.
  22. Could you explain what you are wanting a little clearer? I have no idea what you mean by "system changes".
  23. What you are looking at is the vent for the air conditioning unit, and it would only be found on one side. :(http://www.keithproducts.com/STC%20Systems.../BeechBaron.gif
  24. I am incredibly lucky in that I live and fly in the area covered by the SoCal scenery. It's good enough that I can pick out every house I have lived in here! :(
  25. Is it still in your recycle bin? If so all you have to do is restore it.
