  1. FS Captain works great in P3D and can do a lot of what FSPassangers did plus a lot more. It's still actively supported by the Developer. I use it all the time to send Pireps to my VA because it can use the FSPassangers export format (if you do that sort of thing). First they said it was a marketing delay do to a naming conflict which didn't make sense in terms of a developmental delay etc. but 3.5 years and counting has shaken my faith on this one. If REX is able to pull off what it's been hyping up and somehow is able to integrate the Lattitude scoring methodology into your SimAir pilots rating in a comprehensive yet flexible manner then I do believe they'll finally have a product worth talking about. Until then I do wish them luck while I await the arrival of Air Hauler II
  2. Used REX Latitude a lot but the novelty runs out pretty quickly. It's too bad too because the concept was great but the execution faltered and I don't think REX even cares much about it anymore. It's been a long time since any updates. Jeroen is spot on about the scoring system. It really sucks to get slammed for hand flying a difficult approach in foul weather. If REX could have implemented some sort of "Score modifier" that could take into account these sort of things it would help bring some enjoyment back into the program as it stands is just too rigid. SIMAIR....PPPPffffffftttttt!! Yeah right it's been forever since they said that was going to be released. Oh yeah but wait Reed Stough said it would be this year... :Talking Ear Off: http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27332-is-it-released-simair/ Guess we'll only have to wait a few more days to find out
  3. Nice Ray....Liked your shots. This entire thread got me to break out my Time-Life Epic of Flight book series "The Explorers" and re-read "The race to the top of the world".
  4. At 200+ knots i',m not so sure that there would be much left to remove that the wind hasn't already... Impressive just the same.
  5. Yes indeed looking forward to reading your reports! Agree Completely; Shackleton comes to mind although the wrong pole...LOL You might be surprised, the shot you provided previously was pretty damn cool (The 737) After all this banter you rockin the NP in the Concorde (especially this time of year) could end up on the EPIC scale!!!!
  6. If they are able to pull this off without a tremendous reduction in FPS or OOM then they certainly will have established themselves at the very top of FS Scenery developers; perhaps even the pinnacle of the lot.
  7. Read this thread with interest even though I wont be doing a polar flight anytime soon. To Ray Proudfoot I say... "Stop singing it and start bringing it!" Where's your adventurous spirit? You already have your flightplan, what are you waiting for someone else to fly it and tell you it's O.K.? Saddle up Big Man, light the reheat on your Concord and tell us it's safe to pass, maybe one of us will follow your lead? All this back an forth about is it possible...at Mach 1.5 you'd already know by now had you just launched. I know your real world time is precious and limited I'm puling for you...Document your adventure with screenshots and dialog and share with us n the screenshot forum. Best wishes and luck, Robert
  8. Yes, I have always understood why; never questioned their reasoning. II will not comment further in order to keep the thread on track.
  9. They actually might be able to single handily show enough progression to make even the most anti XP fanatic take notice. While not anti XP I don't think a day goes by that I wish that LM had bought out Austin instead of the source code for FSX. I have given XP10 a complete and honest try (over 3yrs and multiple big name releases) and it's the glacieral and often wandering pace of progression that drove me back to P3d. Wish the team at IXEG the best of luck and if the upper visibility limitation is addressed after release I will surly give this a go.
  10. It'll make a big difference for sure. I actually split my low frequency output from my soundcard with a simple RCA Y connector one end leads to my powered sub the other leads to a Dayton Audio 70 watt plate amp mounted in my center console. It in turn feeds a Aurora tactile transducer mounted under my seat. (essentially the same as a Buttkcker but with a bit more oomph) This combo adds an enormous amount of immersion for the amount of money invested.
  11. The other thing that is seldom mentioned about the Q400 is that since a large portion of it's FDE is modeled outside of FTX in order to produce the accuracy mentioned above many other third party programs will not be able to communicate with it. For example REX L attitude, Airhauler and a number of VA Acars devices get faulty readings when using this Aircraft. Hardware use is also a bit limited too until the Pro Versions are released Even tuning radios in busy Vatsim airspace can be a challenge since you must use the mouse which is a first for me for any aircraft. I am not trying to be critical of the aircraft as it is spectacular in what it achieves but I think its fair to understand what you can expect. I have temporarily shelved my Q400 until I am able to use more of my hardware with it. Food for thought...
  12. Indeed if immersive is to become synonymous with interactive then my vote would actually go to the A2A B3777 Stratocruiser COTS a spectacular, arguably the best, pre-jet commercial piston liner available.
  13. There's always the commercial option too if you really just desire plug and play? Something like VRInsight or Go Flight panels. The difference being the ability to select your own switch style and layout. Some cost savings as well but when you factor in supplies (unique switches can be expensive) and your time it's not as big as you would think. Cost savings is more apparent when comparing to a basic design like a Go Flight P8,T8 or RP48 board. I can build four similar units with one BBI/Buo386x and the cost of the switches, wire and, my time, that is a significant savings. Commercial Options... http://www.vrinsightshop.com/shop/step1.php?number=9 http://www.vrinsightshop.com/shop/step1.php?number=8&b_code=B20111116043722 http://www.goflightinc.com/collections/modules/products/gf-rp48-push-button-rotary http://www.goflightinc.com/collections/modules/products/gf-p8-push-button-module
  14. Don't worry about electrical skills you don't need any, zip, zero, zilch! You don't even have to solder if you buy blade connectors to fit your switches. I'll see if I can find some instructions for you but it's very easy even without. for example the BBI-32 with connectors... You buy the card and plug it into your computer with a usb cable windows will see it as a HID device just like a joystick. Buy some switches at Radio Shack or Mouser or even Autozone and some small gauge wire (I think I used 22 gauge solid core for most of my switches) Solid core isn't as flexible as stranded but makes pushing it into the cards connectors easier. Connect the wire to the switch and plug the other ends into the card...done. Just like a joystick you can test the connection in windows. Flip your new hardware switch and the corresponding slot in the card you plugged it into should illuminate on your windows device calibration screen. Then simply assign a command to it like you would any other joystick button using FSUIPC or the P3d/FSX controller menu. More later gotta go to work....
  15. Anybody give Imagine Sim Austin, TX. a try? Would like to hear your thoughts. While not a huge fan of IS some of what they offer isn't too bad and in many cases, like this, it's the only payware option for a particular location. I'd really like to know if there has been any improvement in their work especially since this is their first P3D release.
  16. +1 Very True Statement I'd also have to throw the Razbam Metroliner III into the mix, it's a very immersive VC For a true GA Aircraft the Aerosoft Katana 4x had an excellent pit for its day as does Ant's P92 Tecam; which is a honey of a light plane.
  17. IMO one of the easiest solutions is a Leo Bodnar Button Box Interface BBI-32 in conjunction with a registered copy of FSUIPC VERY easy to set up and use. His BUO836X card is also excellent if you want some additional axis controls etc. (Recommend the ones that have connectors so no soldering needed at the card) With a bit of wire and some switches you can create anything from basic switch boxes to complete panels. They are awesome for DIY panels I have three BUO836x cards and a BBI that work flawlessly. Great Service and very fast shipping too. http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/
  18. Google search your MB/cpu combo and chances you'll find a guide or two already written. Many of the MB will offer an overclocking genie or presets that will get you above 4ghz. I wouldn't say 4.5ghz is a snap but it's achievable for most without a ton of work so long as you understand that your system is only as good as it's weakest link.
  19. I'm not even running dual cards right now but you have my support; nice job vbazillio! Support Request Sent
  20. Unintentional/run away control input is usually caused by an unknown conflict. Are you sure that you don't accidentally have any other software being applied to the input axis? Saitek, CH, etc? The other thing you should check is to be sure your controllers aren't spiking if they are old/ heavily used and are calibrated correctly.
  21. Brad, If this is what you really want to do then go for it. I don't think you'll see much return on your investment though other than personal satisfaction. What your proposing will require ALOT of work just to create (work that we're trying to tell you has already been done) the other aspect which you may or may not have considered is the amount of effort required to maintain a project like this to keep it current? Good Luck and Best Wishes if you elect to pursue.
  22. Brad, Why would/do you want to recreate the wheel there are a lot of configuration guides already? Nick Needham (Nick N) has one of the best that he's updated over the years. Edit: Jim beat me to it!
  23. Man, I am sorry for that I've used Ccleaner for years and it's never removed anything windows needed. It should have also asked you if you wanted to back up your current registry files before it cleaned anything I'm assuming you didn't do that. Try a windows repair option before a full reinstall. I feel bad, I was trying to help you and you probably want to roundhouse kick me in the nads Sorry for your troubles
  24. I would assume so but I can assure you it works in the latest version 2.4 at least on my system.
