  1. I work in local government as a Network Administrator. I'm a Cisco nerd.
  2. Okay, no problem. Thanks for your help. Robert Cahill
  3. Hello, I've been looking around and can't seem to find any information on where I could purchase the printed version of the manuals. Is this still an option for the 737 NGX or is it now PDF only with the aircraft download? Thanks, Robert Cahill
  4. I was wondering if anyone here knew how to remove the altitude alert warning sound in this plane. I've already tried replacing the particular gauge with the default King Air gauge, but still here the sound. If not remove, what about turning the volume down. I'd rather not adjust the sound settings in the sim, itself due to other aircraft.I've also looked in all the different gauge and sound folders but cannot locate the file responsible. Thanks for any help.Robert
  5. I had this same issue with Free Flow. I'm not absolutely positive, but I think there was a utility included with the FreeFlow package that you could run to put everything back the way it was. If not, you could re-install the default scenery files off the simulator install disk.Robert
  6. If you are performing an approach in IMC you should not be looking out the window at all until you get to DA. The whole purpose of an instrument approach is to allow you access to a runway in lower weather conditions, this could be solid IMC, you could be in and out of clouds, but what it comes down to is do not look out the window and trust your instruments. In the real world, what you see out your window can be VERY distracting and confuse you.You must learn to fly your particular aircraft and configure it appropriately for the given circumstances, and each aircraft is different. Develop your scan and learn what each instrument is telling you. You'll face various weather conditions which all play a role in your power settings, speeds, configurations. The above advice is what you should follow - an ILS will get more sensitive as you approach the runway so try to avoid chasing the needles. If you are flying a VOR approach the same will apply depending on your relation to the station...is the station located on the field, or are you tracking outbound on a radial taking you to the runway? GPS/RNAV approaches, you don't have to worry about needle sensitivity. You'll have various minimums prescribed depending on the approach you choose. Precision approaches (ILS) have the lowest minimums (will get you lower and closer to the runway) and non-precision (VOR, NDB, etc.) have higher due to lower accuracy of the equipment. Nowadays, WAAS is becoming more dominant which takes a GPS approach and creates a "pseudo" glideslope similar to an ILS with lower minimums. Here's the catch in all of this....unfortunately, Microsoft Flight Simulator does not give you the feel of a real airplane, nor does it simulate weather, or aircraft dynamics accurately. There are a few companies that create add-ons which come close. You'll have to learn all of this within the limits of the simulator. But you CAN learn procedures and how things work. Especially, if you have certain add-ons.Carenado aircraft are very good and the Reality XP gauges are fantastic. The RXP stuff performs true to real-life with fluid, smooth movement which makes flying instruments realistic. It's expensive, but very well worth it if you want to get as close to real as you can (currently) get.But at the end of the day, I still find myself getting frustrated with the simulator itself for it's lack of everything else, and with the unrealistic control inputs and joystick sensitivities that have to be adjusted for every single different airplane. It's very nice having all the fancy add-on planes and equipment, but at the end of the day, you're still flying in that same base program. You gotta learn to work with it.Robert
  7. I've been having an issue lately with the sound in the Aeroworx King Air cutting out. The aircraft will start out fine, but after adjusting power, or switching views, the sound will go out completely with no way to get it back. This is happening with the default sound with nothing changed. I've tried different sound drivers with no luck. Any ideas on what could cause this to happen?Robert
  8. I have an interesting problem. I recently replaced the original sound files in the Aeroworx King Air with a new one downloaded from avsim. Everything sounds great except for one thing. If I manually start the engines as per the normal procedures, I'll get as far as moving the right condition lever to low idle, it will stabilize for a couple of seconds, then blue screen on me. Always at the same, exact time.If I use autostart (CTRL E), everything works just fine, no blue screen. I know it's a compatibility issue or conflict with the config file. I need to know where to start looking since there are tons of files in the folder. It has something to do with a sound file that begins immediately after adding fuel for start and at the point of switching over to a "running engine" sound. Anyone know what file this might be related to? A start sound file, combustion file, turbine or prop file?If it helps the file I downloaded is lm_kasndenhpck_v31.zipThanks for any help.Robert Williams
  9. Yep, just throw everything into one "scenery" and one "texture" folder. I arrange mine in little areas with the big airport as the name for a given area so I can remember easily which is which.Robert
  10. I never found it to be too problematic. I always install a given area into one folder instead of the many that comes in the downloads, so when I want to deactivate it, I just have to click off one scenery in the list.Robert
  11. I agree with the above post regarding the VC textures and nighttime..I had a total mess using the PMDG MD-11 at night with textures getting all scrambled up. Top-down view gave me some issues as well. I have since received a refund.RobertPS - I am using FS9
  12. I just wanted to say here that I too have decided to stay clear of this business - for a number of reasons. The main one being the terrible attitudes which most know about. Here's what really gets me...For one, this manual thing. I posted over there in past about the lack of documentation after I had been having some trouble grasping the procedures. "Sorry, no...."I have no intentions"..."don't have the time". You'll never see these posts of mine over there since they were promptly deleted. You guys state how "real" it FMS is and how much detail and accuracy the aircraft has. But you are leaving out a critical element - the completed manual. If you don't want to create a more in-depth manual, what about just focusing in detail on these elements that everyone has the most issues with. You guys are certainly charging premium prices for your aircraft on par with other companies who create MASSIVE, detailed manuals to go along with their products. What about the fact that some folks never even get a reply from your forums, like me, who posted an issue about excessive memory usage about 6 months ago. "WarpD" was looking into it - guess he figured I could shove it. It's pretty safe to assume that given all his other replies to my posts in the past. I'm not saying the Citation is a bad plane. It's definitely lacking if you're charging what you are for it. No failure modes, small manual, terrible customer service. You guys cannot delete my posts over here - and I WILL be spreading the word in other forums when posts like this pop up.If you guys want to state that it's as real as it gets and just like the real deal, then, by all means, why don't you go all the way with it? You can't just create the thing, throw it out there and tell everyone to just figure it out, then rip them a new A-hole when they come to you for help. Are we all supposed to be experts with the aircraft we purchase? Can't we buy something to learn something new?You may have found others to "butter your bread" over there, but I've learned my lesson. No matter what the situation with the airplane, I won't support anyone with an attitude like yours.RobertRobert
  13. Just turn on failures for the time you are sitting there, and then turn them off when you leave, then back on when you return. Someone else here suggested flipping a coin to decide if he wanted to activate the failures on a given flight. I really like that idea. Maybe leaving on the failures would make it interesting to actually sit for the flight. This will give you something (real-world) to do like checking times, burns, cross-checking instruments, possible diversion alternates, drift-downs, NATS and PACOTS position reports, time estimates, SLOP procedures, etc.Although, I do all of this stuff even without any failures turn on. Just in case.Robert Williams
  14. Hey, thanks for the link! I've been looking for something like this for a while.Robert
  15. Check this out:http://blueskyscenery.com/download.htmlScroll down to the Nevada sceneries. Robert
  16. If it means anything, I've experienced this issue before with Carenado aircraft after slewing my plane to a different location on an airport. Robert
  17. I just loaded the program now, and it seems to be okay. Yes, I did have FS using system time. The program was downloading from Server 1 but failed on Server 2. Also, if I tried to pull a METAR string from an airport, it would still come back with a date of 071953.But, all seems well again at this point. I guess it just gets quirky sometimes. Thanks for your reply.Robert
  18. Hello again. I've been having issues downloading real-time weather with Activesky 6.5 for FS9. I'm getting data that's up to 11 days old. Here's what the top is saying right now:Local Date/Time: 8/18/2010 13:10System Zulu Date/Time: 8/18/2010 17:10ZActive wx: 071953ZAll of my system information is set correctly; I'm in online mode; I've switching between both servers (secondary is not working at all); use system time and automatic timezone detection is checked. Thanks for any help.Robert
  19. I had a similar issue when I installed Tileproxy....I have a 64 bit system too but using FS9 and Windows XP Pro. On my hard drive, I have two "Program Files" folders - one says just that and the other says "Program Files (x86). My scenery cache folder was being directed to the first one, not the one which has (x86) after it. Go into your ProxyUser. ini - under your selected service and see where your cache folder is being directed. If you have the same kind of set up as mine, it needs to be sent to the other Program Files (x86) folder. I had to manually create my folder under the main FS9 directory, too, if I remember correctly.Hope this helps you.Robert
  20. Those are some good looking paints. I especially like the 206. I was just looking at this month's "Flying" magazine and there is an article on the new 206 and has some pictures of those paints. I'll be sure to grab those. Thanks for your work.Out of curiosity, would you consider doing a request for the 206? I'm looking for a FedEx feeder repaint - like the C208's for Mountain Air Cargo and Wiggins Airways. Thanks again.Robert
  21. If you don't mind me asking, is there plans for an FS9 version?I'm very excited about this one - would love to have a FedEx (Wiggins, Mountain Air) variant. Looks great so far!Robert
  22. I'm another one for the 206. I have the 182Q, 182RG, Archer, Mooney, and the 206. With floats and a cargo variant, it's a very useful aircraft. I've got mine fitted with the Reality XP 430 WAAS and Flightline T gauges and it's a blast. I fly in Alaska a lot with the float variant.Great sounds, accurate flight dynamics and handling.Robert
  23. Thanks you so much for your help. I forgot about the other set of fuse textures.Much appreciated!Robert Williams
  24. I've recently repainted an aircraft and converted a passenger paint I had, into a cargo variant. Everything worked out great except when turning on the interior lights at night, I still see the entire row of PAX cabin lights instead of the few cargo lights. Is this a file I can just overwrite, or is this part of the texture itself? Something to do with an alpha channel? Could it even be modified? Thanks for any help.PS - I'm very new at repainting, and I'm using DXTbmp and Paint.netRobert Williams
