  1. Those times are past us. At least in the states. One can make a decent living...If they are single or married without any kids. Obviously, financial debt and responsibility are always variables. For me personally, it's always been a child dream of mine. I finally got the opportunity to do it and I wouldn't look back. The schedule at times is terrible and I wonder how long I'll live lol. However, we have to hold ourselves accountable when it comes to physical and mental health. Now as a captain, I don't stay up late during overnights, go out with crews all the time or eat terribly. I make it point to be as well rested as possible and nourished because I have the hardest job on the airplane. It's also about perspective and sacrifice. My wife has Wednesday and Thursdays off each week. If I can't big a line with those days off, I voluntarily put myself on reserve so I can assured of said days off. She's appreciates it and I always get to see her she I am home. It sucks having to be on reserve sometimes but that's where perspective comes in. I can be angry about it, or I can feel blessed thst I always get to be home with my wife. Besides, she's ATC and she understands my schedule because hers is just as rigorous. Long story short, I wouldn't trade it for the world....but it sure does grind my gears at times.
  2. You're comparing apples to oranges here. It's not like back then where they most likely couldn't physically make the entire world of scenery due to technological constraints. Trainsim world is completely different. They have the tools to make a route. They just only do a quarter or a half of it. What do you think is going to happen? They are going to go back and add to all the existing routes??? Give me a break. I'm spending my hard earned money and expect not to be ripped off. Excuse me for holding developers accountable in hopes that they can actually make progress in developing products. Countless times have I been mislead and even blatantly lied to by a companies advertising just to part with large amounts of cash. You obviously have a soft spot for crap from developers. Or maybe you just want to sound self riteous here on avsim to get some street cred. Whatever it is, it's honestly the biggest reason companies get a way with half baked products. There is absolutely no reason for not building an entire route. If there is a truly concrete reason as to why they can't, then tell me.
  3. So I guess we have to wait 35 years to get full routes? You're describing a leap in technology, not the ability to do something. If they wanted to make a full route they can. They have the ability to do it....They just choose not too. If they couldn't do it, then this thread wouldn't even exist because the game doesn't exist.
  4. That's a cop out...at best. Trainsim and flightsim are novelties. People clamour at the chance to do something that they couldn't do in real life...Especially like flying and driving trains. These companies know that, so they go half-donkey on add ons knowing full well that people will buy because they just have to see what it feels like. If the product is truly worth it, then people will buy it, word will get out and revenue will continue to stream in. If it isn't, revenue dies. Supply and demand.... Sadly, there will always be a demand for these things.
  5. Trains in world is a cool idea. However, I am pretty baffled as to why they only do 50 or so miles of track. When are we going to get full routes like in the older train sim 20xx? Who knows. Also, the scenarios are so scant.
  6. Good grief....press and hold the spacebar, move your mouse around then click the required buttons.....It's not that hard to do....
  7. At my company....It's pretty simple, don't pressurized hydraulics unless it's verified that a tug is hooked up to the airplane or it's chocked. I don't understand why companies go through the lengths they do to try to write safety measures that cover every scenario possible. It's assumed that the ramp environment comes with it's risks and dangerous hotspots. However, if both ramp personnel and pilots used common sense, accidents wouldn't happen. The odds of hydraulic fluid spitting oiut of the main landing gear is how much??? Probably super duper small.
  8. Thanks for all the comments guys! Very kind words indeed! I can't wait for those Delta liveries Steve!
  9. My fps usually stsy ptetty constant around 40 to 45. Only at heavy airport will it drop to mid to low 30s. It's not a stuttery mess by any means.
  10. Yessir! Its working really well. I had almost the exact same setup as you. When are you upgrading?
  11. Here are some recent captures from some Maddog and 717 flights! That's all. The pictures encompass a few flights. KMSP-KDEN (Maddog) KLAX-KSFO (Boeing 717) KSFO-KSLC (Maddog) KATL-KMDW (Maddog)
  12. Good to know. Thanks for the info.
  13. That's what I figured. I prefer it this way. More intuitive. Didn't know thst about the speed cards. Was wondering how I selected different speed cards.
  14. You aren't making any sense. Its economics......apparently, there is more of a market for Barcelona and not Madrid. I am sorry but that's just life.... what do politics have to do with any of this? Chicago is a hub for the biggest airline in the world and hub to another airline with the largest international presence. Not only that, all the big international players fly into there. Not only that, but its gone through a lot of changes since the last add-on.
  15. I habe also noticed thst the bugs match whatever speeds you pint into the CDU....at least for Vr and V1.
  16. That's economics... If there isn't a strong market for a product....then it's most likely not goiing to be produced. And no, just because you and a few others want that airport, it doesn't mean there's a market for it. And yes it's competition at it's best. It's obvious that no one wants to make that airport because they realized thst they woukd most likely have a larger profit margin if they made ORD. It's the same reason I haven't gotten a Houston hobby made for p3d yet. I can now choose what version of KORD I want and I will now be a how to spend my money on the BEST one in my opinion. I'm not strapped just to one version. I understand that variety is good and it helps to give everyone an opportunity be represented with what they want in their own fantasy flightsim land. That's awesome that we have so many developers, however, having a couple options to choose from when it comes to add ons is what this hobby needs... Imagine if there was still only one sim to use? No xplane, no AF2, no p3d....nothing but fsx....
  17. That's called competition.... Or you could only have one option....and thst option could seriously suck.
  18. NICE! Sometimes I'm too busy to make sure I don't blow through my TOD. Life duties....what can you do these days lol
  19. Any chance that a "pause at TOD" feature might be included in a later service pack? Thanks
  20. No issues with pfpx here. Honestly, the fuel planning has been quite good. I land with the planned landing fuel +-200 lbs. When planning the flight, I put in the number of passengers I want (not to exceed the limits set within the maddog planner.) Then, I add any amount of cargo I want....once again, making sure I stay within the limits of whatever the maddog planner has. What ever the fuel load thst pfpx says to use.... I put into the block fuel for the maddog planner and then pres the transfer quantity button.....that way i know how to distribute fuel in the sim during refueling. It all works quite well.
  21. You have to remember that this airplane was built a long time before rnav arrivals....a lot of the technology in the current maddogs are most likely retrofits. This comes with some cool things that help to reduce workloads but at the same time, can make an autopilot struggle. Just use vertical speed mode and watch the descent.
  22. I have been having my posts get deleted in the maddog support forum for reasons unknown.... One particular one was my opinion that wasn't a glowing review...however, I did recommend buying the airplane. Who's knows.... It's not just happening to you. It's avsim in general.
  23. Are people only getting mid to low 20s in the fps category and calling it great performance? I didn't know our standards dropped that much. Good grief...
  24. The same thing happened to me at flightbeams kden runway 17L
