Getting rid of Red info lines in FSX
I have just gone through a rebuild of FSX (and my computer) and cannot remember how to get rid of the Red info pop-ups in the top right hand corner of the screen. Can someone give me the good oil on this, please? John G

Does fsx chatter work? Or just use live atc?
I used FSX Chatter once or twice (I think!) or was it files that came with something else? Anyway the last time I tried to get FSX chatter working I couldn't. I haven't gone back to it. As for Live ATC I don't use the chatter option (did when I used it several years ago) but it was too much stuffing around for me. What I do is make videos of my flights and I use the FSLive Archive files by downloading, saving and then inserting them into my timeline (I use Corel Video Studio). You can get chatter files on Radar Contact but lately I've given up on this program for awhile (my system keeps throwing the Radar Contact program into its waste bin - good program, though, and I've enjoyed it for years). Sorry this isn't any help. But I would like to see something that can incorporate live chatter as part of the flight sim program (out of the box) at some time in the future: perhaps a direct link from the flight sim interface that would set up a live chatter frequency (real time live chatter) before you start your flight. One day ...! John G

Titanic Honor and Glory, the most amazing game I have ever seen.
Creepy! If it wasn't for my great grandmother pleading with her son not to sail on her I wouldn't be writing this (his father had just died and the son. my grandfather, was on his way to the new world - he caught the next ship to America and found his way to the Canadian Rockies where he worked as a logger and what-not, before making his way slowly to Australia. These videos are amazingly real! As I said it gave me the creeps, but has got me interested. Thanks for showing us. John G

ASN Railroading TrackIR
Chandy replied to aerostar's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumI have trouble with TrackIR and ASN. The two don't seem to want to work together on my rig. I don't use OPUS anymore however there was a check box in the OPUS interface to allow TrackIR with it. On my very last use of OPUS that checkbox didn't seem to allow TrackIR. Now I just use ASN without TrackIR, or TrackIR with the FSX weather option. John G

Can't turn knobs on G1000 panel
Rob and Bert, I tried this in my Carenado Baron but now I can only drag the needle around the dial by holding down the left mouse button. No scrolling and no left or right clicking (I had left and right clicking until I tried this fix with FSCUIP - now that's gone and I still can't scroll). Clicking works on drop-down menus and scrolling and clicking works in the browser and other programs. I have experienced the same problem in the Carenado Beech 1900D, but only since installing the Carenado TBM850. I had uninstalled the TBM850 before trying the FSUICP fix so whatever it is remains there; perhaps the TBM850 placed something on the hard drive that wasn't removed when I uninstalled it, or it has changed something for all other aircraft somewhere in FSX. I have yet to re-install the Carenado TBM850 but at the moment there doesn't seem to be any point in doing that if I can't use the mouse in any other aircraft, other than going through this ridiculous drag thing. Using the mouse to drag a knob around is difficult because I find my pointer all over the screen, having to move my hand way too far. Thanks for all the suggestions, guys but I think there is something more to this. I hope someone can come up with the answer on these forums because I'm at rock bottom with my bag of tricks. Regards, John G

Can't turn knobs on G1000 panel
I have this problem in FSX. I didn't have a mouse problem until I installed the TMB850 recently. Now I have a problem across all aircraft - the mouse wheel will not operate any knobs in any aircraft, even the MS Default planes. Left and right clicking in the TBM won't move the knobs either but will in other aircraft. I have a registered version of FSUICP but wouldn't know what to do with it to fix this problem - if that is what it can do. I have reinstalled the TBM850 but nothing has been rectified by that action. I changed my mouse (twice) and still the problem persists. My mouse drivers are up to date. I do not, as far as I can see, have the mouse assigned to anything else. Unfortunately this bug renders the entire aircraft useless. For other people to have this problem it has got to be something stemming from the TBM850, in that in my rig it has altered mouse functionality across the board, affecting other aircraft. If someone doesn't have a solution it will be goodbye to this aircraft. I have not yet asked Carenado for support, and judging by another response in the forums it appears they don't have a solution to offer. If anyone in the forums has the good oil on this problem, I will be very grateful for your help. Regards, John G

Installer to FSX runs then terminates
Thanks, Keven. The problem has now been fixed - it was the user\username\appdata\local\apps\2.0. Once removed all worked fine. Thank you for your quick response. John G

Installer to FSX runs then terminates
Hi guys, I need some help on this one. I purchased the PrecipFX program from SimMarket, downloaded it from Old Prop Solutions (all fine so far) as per the directions; unpacked the files and ran it from the .exe file. I then got a pop-up telling me the Application couldn't be installed and to contact the vendor. I have tried the install process several times, including a second download but I have the same fail problem. I have all FSX service packs and Acceleration. How can I get around this? I contacted the developer at Zinertek but they say they haven't heard of Old Prop Solutions. There is a large Notepad-format "Details" list but that makes no sense to me as I'm not that tech-savvy. I am afraid I'm bamboozled and would be grateful for whatever assistance can be provided. Thanks in advance, John G

cabin won't pressurize
I have just experienced this problem for the first time today - it hasn't happened before. I was flying at FL195 and the Cabin DIFF HI light illuminated as I passed through 10,000 feet on the climb and extinguished when I descended through 10,000 feet. The Adjustment scales seemed to do nothing and the knob on the bottom left of those circular scales turns but doesn't seem to do anything either. I couldn't find anything in any of the manuals. Best Dash 8-300 and Dash 8-200 for FSX? Payware or freeware
What I would like to see is a '100' - I've flown on them in real life and they fly in my part of the world. However I would like also to see Majestic or some other developer offer a 'light' model (or one a bit less complex than the current Majestic Q400 - just for those times when you want a break from complexity. I have complex aircraft but at times I'm just not up to it. It's nice to just kick the tyres and go, sometimes . Yes, I know we can do that with a whole lot of other planes, but the de Havilland Dash-8's do look attractive to me, and probably to a lot of others. John G.

FPS Locked VS FPS Unlimited
I always suffered from various levels of stutters but I read on a forum that if you matched your monitor screen refresh rate with your frames per second slider they would go away. I did that and now I fly without stutters (60 and 60) for my set-up. Hope this helps. John G

VOX not intializing
Vox initialises then disappears on my rig. Nothing happens after that. I can't work this out either. I used to use Vox regularly for years but since getting this new version ages ago I lost patience with it. Now it seems to have lost patience with me (spite, perhaps!). John G

Chatter Files and Adding Chatter Files......
I have just purchased the ATC Ambience program from SimMarket but there are no chatter files already installed in it as was alluded to - or at least if there is I can't activate them. Also in the ReadMe that comes with the program it is mentioned that AVSIM has plenty of chatter files (there is also a link to www.flightsimsoftware.uk that leads to a blank "under construction" webpage and nothing else - it is supposed to hold additional wav. files for the ATC Ambience program). So if AVSIM have files for the ATC Ambience program could someone point me to their location please. I have spent an hour searching this morning but can't find anything. Thanks in advance, John Gibson

Wheel sizes
Thanks for the info, Ken. I didn't know about the tyre sizes but suspected that this would be the case. As for the loading and centre of gravity, I knew the answer to that (perhaps) but had to ask it. Your valued reply should spell the end of any further conjecture about all of this. Regards, John G

Wheel sizes
I have noticed one post from someone who says he has been around B1900s all his life and said that the wheel sizes are wrong; that the nose wheel should be smaller than the mains, and that the mains should be chunkier (he refers to a likeness in the B1990D to the King Air 350 - which it shouldn't represent). He also mentions that the rear fuselage shouldn't be as low to the ground like it is. Does anyone have a comment on these features in the Carenado model? I have watched some videos of real life B1900D's and I agree with him on the wheels issue, however are some B1900D aircraft in real life fitted with smaller wheels, or this something Carenado really has to attend to? Regards, John G

Wilco CRJ next gen sale worth it?
Yeah. I was disappointed, too. I thought there were enough bugs that would prevent me buying one of their planes again. A real pity. John G

Ideal Flight Program Fuel Loading
Hi, I am using Ideal Flight 10 but don't understand why the program only allows sufficient fuel to fly to the destination, without any reserves for alternate airport diversions, holds, weather avoidance or go-arounds. I land with just the smell of fumes from practically empty tanks - or run dry on approach if I run into headwinds or don't practice micro-fuel management. There is some sort of garbled info in the Help menu which doesn't make sense and doesn't work (something about extending the range of the aircraft in the Aircraft/Parameters screen). I don't know of any forum that caters for Ideal Flight so I thought I would throw it up here. Can anyone give me the good oil (or should I say fuel) about how to overcome this? Note: I am flying under a career mode, if that helps. Regards, John Gibson

Black Mouse Cursor
After a re-install of FSX I have a black cursor. I couldn't install a downloaded SP1 file for some unknown reason. Then when I tried to re-install Acceleration and SP2 (with SP1) I got a pop-up saying I needed the English version of the orginal FSX disc (which I have had since it first came out). So I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded SP2 and installed it into the sim. I still have the black cursor. Does anyone know how to get the cursor back to white? Regards, John G

RC sound levels
G'day,I am currently using the MeatWater packs in RC and I find they are just about blowing out my ear drums (well not quite but the voices are far too loud). Now I would say this would also apply to the original files except that they are not as intrusive as the MW voices because the static is absent.I know I can reload the original files but my question really applies to both. How can I turn down the volume without adjusting my speakers (at the speaker) or turning down the volume using the FSX Sound Control Panel? Is there somewhere in the RC cfg or smething that I could adjust? If anyone can throw some light on this (not your voice) I would be grateful and happy.Regards,John G

Meatwater Vocpack, missing folder ?
Thanks for that, Norman. I am using the latest version. I won't fret now.Regards,John G

Meatwater Vocpack, missing folder ?
Thanks for the quick reply, Norman. But your reply did not answer my question. I know that Meatwater packs are missing file 63 but the Meatwater packs do not appear cover all of the other files on a one-for-one basis, at face vaule (see my origina post). Do the Meatwater packs completey replace all the winwood files I backed up as instructed - except file 63?Do I recall file 63 from the back-up winwood file I created in accordance with the Installation Instructions?Regards,John G

Meatwater Vocpack, missing folder ?
I have downloaded files 1-10 and after extracting them I found I am missing folders 32-49 and 63-83 inclusive. I went back through each of the ten folders and checked. That's confirmed that the missing folders are not in any of the MeatWater Voc packs 1-10. What do I do now? Go to my back-up winwood folders and use them to fill in the blanks? Has any else got this problem?John G
