  1. I think you could get the 970 and spend the difference in addons. $200+ dollars for really an insignificant performance difference unless you're running 4k or multi monitors. I love spending money but for this generation the price difference to performance ratio is quite small. Plus you can oc the 970 to 980 stock levels if you think you are missing the performance difference.
  2. Thanks for taking the time for the review. I'm sticking with FSX until a 64 bit alternative is available. The only reason to jump to SE is if you want to solve OOM issues without purchasing the dx10 fixer. I have it, and haven't had an OOM since switching.
  3. Thanks for the help. Purchased the MSI Gaming 970 GTX. I'll provide a report when I get it installed and running. I hope I get 10 FPS more in heavy weather.
  4. What's the better GPU for an oc 2700k? I'm running 4.5 now, and thinking about upgrading from a 480 gtx?
  5. 737 NGX. Great depth of systems, and the performance is balanced for a wide range of systems.
  6. Well this year I am asking Santa for something simple: NGX with a working weather radar.
  7. So much that I would be embarrassed to mention it to someone not involved in the hobby.
  8. Yeah, but you would need a type rating first. And a bunch of other docs. So no.
  9. It will run, but very basically with low level settings. If I were you, I would look up the AVSIM guide. It'll provide instructions on hardware and tuning-specifically tailored for FSX.
  10. The only developer that beats T2G in outstanding payware is Flightbeam. However, T2G surpasses all quality developers in total airports delivered per year. All of their recent stuff is outstanding.
  11. I had never heard of FS Traffic Live, so I went to their website. Amazing idea. Looked at the pricing. Gulp! That's expensive. $50 every three months!
  12. Yes, that's correct. Although simbrief does have a feature that captures historical flight plans from airport to airport. Does PFPX provide real world routing? Or is it auto generated?
  13. You can use flightaware for the the actual in use DPs and STARs. I don't need to pay for that when it's freely found on the web. Absolutely top notch service from simbrief.
  14. You can clone your drive, and likely will not have any issues. I cloned my drive and it worked like a charm with no need to fix registries.
  15. What about a coupon code? Basically set up a group order to be built after 90 days ex. December 18, 2014. Or, to make it easy Jan. 1, 2015. All orders would put down a deposit, enter coupon code, and then wait for the orders to come in. The total number of orders will dictate the price. Of course someone would have to let us know the totals so we could drum up additional orders. On the expected date all funds are due and cards are charged. Then the yokes will be ordered and assembled. This assumes that Iris can make a bigger announcement in the Avsim forums. Not sure if this section gets many views. And that Iris' website could take an order with a coupon code. Thoughts?
  16. Thanks Chad! Maybe we set up a thread in here with 25, 50, 75, etc. and then have an execute date of 30-90 days to get people to sign on. If a thread doesn't have enough posts by a certain date it collapses to the next lower order. I will personally post in the 100 if that's the way we go.
  17. FWIW, perhaps put the offer in the Bargain Hunters or classifieds here on avsim. Your explanation makes perfect sense, and I think there are enough customers on avsim that would put deposits down immediately. Especially if you factor the time it will take 99 other simmers to find the post, sourcing, production, etc.
  18. I would be the first the first to sign up. Maybe have everyone pre-pay or a deposit so you could have some working capital. Hopefully others will see your post and comment. Thanks!
  19. Any chance you would do a discount if we did an AVSIM group purchase. Maybe 100 units get x discount? I like the product at $800. At $1500 it's not an option. $1000 would be closer to reality for most enthusiasts...
  20. Thanks. That's what I thought. I was thinking about purchasing a force feed back yoke. But then started thinking well I need a decent throttle. And when I started looking I was turned off by the prices out there. Spending thousands of dollars on hardware doesn't seem to be in my future. But I will keep the warthog in mind.
