  1. I upgraded this morning and no problems at all. Currently on a hop from kiah to tjsj. It's stopped the weird stutters that I had after I installed sp1. So far I'm liking the update! Is there a way to get turbulence back to sp1 intensity? I kinda liked it.
  2. Thanks. If there's no performance hit I'm in!
  3. RPLL Manila by Pacific Simulations has the entire city and airport done. It's very extensive and well done. Oops. Saw the above note. Also there is a Rio and Sau Paulo scenery that is extensive and well reviewed on simmarket.
  4. I've been watching this team since the beginning. I'm sorry that the team is closing, but the communication at all stages was very vague regarding deadlines which scared me off. I can't tell you how many times I was about to submit an order and always felt like I needed to wait it out. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt this way. I hope this tech is licensed to a different group soon.
  5. This reads like it's doing what it's supposed to do, replicating a 737 yoke...
  6. I know this was meant to be helpful, and agree with most of what you have written. But given your processor, and previous gpu I am extremely skeptical of a 40% increase in FPS. I have a similar processor and I came from a 480 gtx to a 970 gtx. A new GPU will generally only provide higher levels of AA and smoother frames (and the use of BP=0, if you are really behind the times). It does not give you a 40% increase in frames even in DX 10.
  7. You have contributed something that means a lot to so many people. Thank you, and take care!
  8. So maybe I'll pull the trigger if one has a decent hat switch. That way I can wait on the next technology for motion capture. Does one have a decent hat switch. It looks like goflight has one but it's too small...
  9. You would just establish 2 way communication and state your intent to transit. However since 2 way has to be established before entry into class D, I have requested to transit to (direction) to be nice to ATC. But that's real life. In sim I'm unable to answer this one...
  10. Gulp. So spend $1500- $2000 on hardware plus 200 for track IR. Yep, I think you convinced me to keep my ms sidewinder with no rudder pedals. There's gotta be a better way! $2k is 15-18 hours in a trainer at the airport. What's needed is a full hardware package for less than $1000. And even writing that sounds like too much money.
  11. So I've googled the aforementioned yokes. There does not seem to be a definitive answer on the best one. Seems that reviews are at best far between. I was going to do the group buy on a force feedback in the fall, but the answers from the developers provided information that was not comforting. So is there any additional info on this topic?Seems like high end joysticks are in a murky hole with little information.
  12. And to the OP there is a good chance the third class medical will be abolished. Not sure if the bill has left committee but it will be a good thing for those with medical problems. I would say 25-50% is captured by the sim. Mostly procedures, flows, and some scans. The sim helped me to understand instrument flying especially holding procedures. The sim also helped me to understand power management for commercial maneuvers too (almost forgot- helped me immensely with lazy 8s!)
  13. Have you looked at the approach plate(s) for LIMC? It may give you a better plan...
  14. I've always wondered how folks had that much free time not just to fly but learn other aircraft and their various systems. I can honestly say that if I put the NGX down for more than 3 weeks it will kick my tail. I'm thinking about removing the MD11, the Queen, and the Twin Otter.
  15. Because it answers every question I have ever thought about asking re:FSX. And it's pretty well moderated.
  16. Unable to get weather radar working. Downloaded, installed. Ops center says I'm updated. FMC states sp1c. I tried it 2x
  17. So how much memory does my 970 use with BP=0? Does it approach 4gb?
  18. I think this is brilliant. But is the trike a better base line?
  19. My 970 GTX MSI Gaming 4G is silent under most conditions. Early releases were complaining about a high pitch coil whine, but my card is so far silent.
  20. So after a week with limited flying time ( I have a 3 year old at home) here are a few observations about the 970 gtx: 1. You can adjust higher AA in NV inspector with no apparent loss in FPS. 2. Coil whine is nonexistent in my MSI 970 gtx 4g gaming. 3. I get higher FPS in 2048 Rex clouds and ASN weather. 4. Detailed scenery and storms will still reduce FPS - sometimes in the teens. 5. The sim seems smoother even at lower FPS ranges. 6. Internal temps inside case have gone down. On average about 1-2 deg Fahrenheit. 7. Moving from the 480 to 970, I can see a reduction in jaggies, shimmering. 8. Higher settings have put me in OOM territory twice. Conclusion: For me it's still the same sim with some minor improvements. The GPU did not give me better FPS in all instances, but the sim appears to be crisper than it was with the 480 gtx.
  21. My decision to purchase a new gpu was based on the fact that in heavy weather (recently purchased a new weather engine) my FPS would drop to low teens and below. FSX is CPU dependent so purchasing a new GPU will not fix FPS issues in all situations. Be careful and do the research. It's extremely easy to overspend on hardware and not get the results that you had hoped to get.
