  1. In the real world you get your clearance, then you contact ground/departure. I have never gotten current conditions from clearance delivery. Before you contact ground/ departure/ approach you tune into ATIS. You then report that you have information 'yankee'. Only in years past would ATC always give you wind direction and speed before takeoff. ATIS was designed to reduce ATC workload. So in short FSX ATC is actually correct.
  2. Greatest platform ever. Developers now have a platform to improve for the next 5-10 years! Now just need a decent VR setup.
  3. There's a force feedback yoke in the works: http://www.irisdynamics.com/index.php/force-feedback-yoke-pre-order
  4. Yeah that's DX9 water. Although I love YouTube videos for FSX, they are usually not indicative of real world performance due to post editing techniques. But that looks like DX9 to me...
  5. I am a new convert to DX10. I was unable to complete long haul flights in the NGX from FSDT CYVR to T2G MMMX in DX9 due to OOM. Since switching I have no More OOMs. I am not technical enough to explain why, I can just say getting and installing the DX10 fixer properly worked for me and I am seeing several benefits related to smoothness, water, FPS stability, and cockpit shadows in GA aircraft.
  6. I am still confused. How does one fix (maybe I'm slow-need to get tested)?
  7. I have the same issue. Looking for a fix as well.
  8. Yeah, I would highly recommend it. IFR for me was not easy at first. I think if you get the basics of navigation and approaches down you will howl with glee when you do it in the NGX.
  9. Wow. Made me look. Sigh, so depressing. I wish someone would do a 757/767 package. I'd pay through the nose for it.
  10. A lot of folks would say learn IFR in a trainer aircraft. I'm one of them... However if you're stubborn and like to get in over your head fly the NGX. Fastest way is to go to YouTube. I would learn: FMC programming. Basics of IFR flight High altitude aerodynamics Systems. How to start NGX. Use a flight planner like simbrief.com to understand all of the above. And start with short hops. And in your spare time I would watch ALL of the University of North Dakota (UND) training videos. Flying the NGX is a steep learning curve if you don't have the basics. It will ignite a passion to learn and that's all it takes to fly any aircraft.
  11. TJSJ To TNCM. It's 45 min by 737, and allows you to use Twin Otter, NGX, and any GA turbine/piston aircraft for pilotage when flying over Caribbean islands. Plenty of alternates if you get bored.
  12. Not that I'm aware of. As stated earlier there is a tool to fix the very few areas that need it. I've been running since 2010 with GEX UTX, orbx etc. with excellent accuracy. FS Global is set and forget.
  13. So why can't the processes in FSX be offloaded to another program and that program handle processing to get around this vas limit? Do we need an emulator for FSX?
  14. I have had the same problems. I thought it was just me! Wish list for 2014: addon airports with REAL dimensions on taxiways and gates...
  15. Is anyone experiencing ctd/ high vas usage to this airport on flights of 3 hours or more with the NGX? I have made 3 flights from cyvr and a rock stable install with multiple addons and so far I'm 3/3. This is after the update...
  16. So this sounds like Wilco's typical wares. Sad really, as I had hoped they took the negative from the past and decided to move forward.
  17. I'm hoping WILCO has changed... Looking forward to this one.
  18. My question remains unanswered. So I will ask again If you have crash detection turned on, will you crash into invisible objects? This developer has previous issues with invisible objects at MMMX.
  19. I'm not sure i understand your response. I'm not sure I understand your response.
