  1. Hehe! This is NOT my simulator, but a friend of mine named Kjetil Mathisen. I`ve just tested it a bit and wanted to show you the fantastic work in Norway.
  2. Look at this fantastic Boeing 737 800 simulator in Norway. This is built private and the construction time was aprox 3 years. I have flown this and this is amazing. Under construction: Under construction, shell complete: Complete with 240 degrees screen: Me in right seat explain the air system of 737: Me in the left seat and a real 737 pilot in the right seat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYPbVEs8ul0 See also my other aviation vids at youtube!
  3. But, why do you not assign a short cut to TOGA function?I have following short keys for autoflight:CTR+T = TO/GACTR+§ = F/DCTR+1 = FD 1 ON / OFFCTR+2 = FD 2 ON / OFFCTR A = CMD A ON / OFFCTR B = CMD B ON / OFFCTR C = CWS A ON / OFFCTR D = CWS B ON / OFFCTR S = LVL CHGCTR V = VNAVCTR L = LNAVCTR Y = APPCTR U = LOCCTR I = SPD INTERVENTIONHelps a lot when airborn and you do not have time to fiddle with the mouse when you should control the airplane (when AP OFF)
  4. I use Logitech Extreme 3D Pro stick. Quite okay, but not the same feel as the 737 yoke, for no big surprise. I also use the Apple Ipad 2 for charts, planning, metar etc, so I use it like a EFB like in real, with manuals, documents, diagrams and wx charts on it. Has bumped the realism quite many step upwards!
  5. I have also a good tip: Prior to reach your level, try to revert to V/S and gently adjust V/S to 1000, eventually less. The same problem comes up if you have 3500 fpm and the CMD starts to level off 1000 feet prior to level.
  6. As a 737 captain told me one time; "We fly an AIRPLANE, NOT, an elevator" when the ATC earlier had told them to reduce the speed and increase the rate of descent : )Very nice video! Would like more of them : )What I also would learn a bit about is planning and executing ILS, VOR and NDB approaches with real briefing : )
  7. Okay! So how I understand it; the EEC commands higher N1 (approach idle) when gear is selected down. How to get this in FSX is to make the thrust leavers physically glides forward. So therefor the NGX is correct modelled also here! You will have 30% N1 with gear up and almost 40% N1 with gear down (approach idle)?I will ask some pilots and do some more testing in NGX when flying around at my scheduled legs : )NB! This is not for trying find some bugs, this is just for interest and wondering if I do something wrong or the program is modelled slightly from the real behaviour of the 737. FSX limitations heard realistic to me : )
  8. This could also be connected to a setting: "OVERRIDE IN ARM MODE". I have this mode selected in the option meny (in CDU). Then it is most like the real plane for my opinion. Still, it is not clear if the real a/c does command the thrust leavers even if the A/T Is off or not! So it is in the PMDG and I try to find a answer on this. A pilot on ppRune told me that the A/T will NOT command any thrust leavers movement unless A/T is armed or in an active mode! THerefor, this CAN be a bug!
  9. As you (ajacied551) tell, so I thought it was! The post above was confusing me! PMDG NGX is actually adjusting the thrust leavers at approach if your speed is falling rapidly (in example if you are high and hot and try to reduce your speed by adding drag and setting idle thrust). I just checked it and I see the thrust leavers moves a tiny bit and adjusts the thrust from 30% N1 to aprox 40% I underline: The A/T is _OFF_! Any developers? Or pilots? Anyone who knows the correct answer? It is correct that the thrust is automaticly adjusted (with A/T OFF) or should it remain completely still? If so, the NGX has a little bug here! : )Otherwise: I love this product! Very good made with many of the real NG features on!!
  10. Ah! Does this mean that if we have selected A/T OFF and still seas the thrust leavers moves slightly forward to aprox 40% N1, even you are low level (maybe 2000 feet) this is A/T which overrides your descision of idle thrust at that situation? If YES; the PMDG is modelled in a fantastic way. I thought it was a bug, and I have moderate to good knowledge about the 737 NG : )
  11. 737 NG: I learnt somr trick from a 737 crew for some time ago: At final approach, VREF + 5 kts, at threshold VREF, and finally at touch down VREF - 5 kts. If you try to practice this, your landings will be like a pro! I have study many 737 NG films and often around as high as 20 feet AGL the thrust is set to idle, at 10 feet AGL the engines should be spooling down towards idle. At around 20 feet AGL I start to flare (adjust positive 3 degrees). The ground effect is pretty high at the 737 800 (it seems to) so dont be afraid of moderate flaring! : ) Give it a try and let me hear what you think : )
  12. I have an Alienware Aurora ALX with i7 920 and 12 GB mem, ATI 5900 3d card. Wonder how it will work. At a test-pc with 3 GB memory, Q6600 quadcore at 2.40 ghz and nVidia GF 8800 GT card it runs at 1900 resolution in VC with 8 fps at big airports and 12 fps at the best outside airports. Hope to see 25-30 fps at the Alienware. I think the CPU is the main-word here. Maybe the i7 920 also should be replaced.
  13. My thoughts from real world life experience (full motion simulator, 50 hours+ at jump seat in 737 800, many hours in Ralley Tobago TB10):1) Psychologically stress factors2) Searching for buttons3) Not used to read flows and checklists in air4) Different behaviour from the PMDG 737 to the real, especially the old PMDG, which where much more basic simulated than the new one)5) Different view angles, perspective makes it hard to sense and compare to the FS simming experience6) Overhelming sensory input (like me when I spent 10 minutes, doing nothing, just watching a hells amount of lights and systems)7) Weather and real world phys. factors. The sensory input from a cockpit perspective contra FS is much more graded/reduced. Runways are more hard to see, distance could be more difficult to consider in real. Lights are more bleech in real than in flightsim : )These seven factors are the main factors which works hardest against an experiences flightsimmer if she/he needs to land a real airplane. Many of them I hadn`t thinked about before I was trying some landings in a real 737 800 full sim. It worked in the full simulator, but I am still not convinced it would worked in real due to these seven factors.
  14. Hello friends! I am a trained 737 simmer, have simmed the old PMDG for years now, with checklists and procedures. For some years ago I was invited to a real 737 NG full motion simulator. I got half an hour in the sim, and the first 10 minutes was spent just to look around me where things were located. It was completely different than the 2D panels in PMDG and also the 3D panels. 2D panel to 3D panel makes a big difference. 3D panel to real cockpit makes same big difference. It is easy to overcompansate the movements on the collum. Actually to operate the plane (find the buttons) are not quite easy if you aren`t used to spend your time in a real cockpit. I forgot the before landing flows (like setting engine start switches cont, arm speedbrake and so on) but landed the a/c without any damage. To really know about fighting with REF speeds, manuvering speeds, limitations and basic landing tecniques is important if you even want to come down in one pcs! My 5 cents for increasing chances to land a real plane is to train in the virtual cockpit. Train at flows and read checklists, and you will have better chances : )
  15. This could be an minor error from the dev`s yes! I have not noticed it by my self but when you speak about it, I will be frustrated each start-up :( No, I`ll make it pass! Wonderfull a/c anyway. One more minor thing is that the EICAS (in every 800 I have flown / Observered) there should be three dashes --- for N1 values when the a/c on ground with enginges off. Some N1-variations when wind is blowing in the enginges had been cool. I noticed that one time. With wind aprox 20 knots, the fans are turning around and make some RPM, also registrated on the N1 scale : )))
  16. I also have the same problem. Strange for me is that first time I booted up system, I was requested to activate and inserted activation serial key. I flew four legs and everything was fine. Next day, I had problems activating CMD after take off. Then TCAS was INOP by no faults. TCAS OFF msg instead of TCAS FAIL flag in navigation display. Therafter more and more failures came, but not real 737 failures, more system failures. Screens froze, buttons disapered, SHIFT + 3 (FMC popup) became SELCAL something-blurry texture and so on. Something really strange happend. Therafter, whan I load the 737 800 or 900 with or w/o winglet, blank (black) screens and unclickable buttons is the only thing to see. Sound is working and engines are running. Sometimes 2D panel works, sometimes not.I have sent ticket to PMDG for this for 14 hours ago, hope to get in the air with this aircraft ASAP!
  17. See this! Do you know (or any of you) how to delete the license information? I think I know what lead to the fatal system error. Innstalation of ASX
  18. Now it is sent PMDG, fifth try : ) It was something wrong with server. Hope the problem is solved soon : ) My NG is on ground
  19. I think this has something with failed registration to do. My 737 NG is not flyable any more. I will try an fresh innstall of FSX, but not sure it helps
  20. PMDG Team:Wonderfull a/c I have had a lot of fun with, but after 10 flying hours suddently the freeze problem came to me also. I couldn`t send any ticket, the internet page is loading for 10 minutes and then "page could not be displayed". I have written a detailed report:A. Your ORIG/DEST and your flight plan.EFRO / ENGMB. What pages did you have open on both FMS screens at the time of the freeze?CDU1: RTECDU2: ROOT MENU FMC /C. What phase of flight where you in when this happened? On groundD. Let us know if you want to be included in any test dlls we offer to affected customers…Yes!!REMARK!!: First time this problem occured was after flying for 10 hours in the NGX. CMDB (was flying at FO side) was not willing to activate. Tried CMDA but it was not working either. No lights at the buttons, and no remark in FMA. Tried CWSB and CWSA and same lack of response.!!REMARK2!!: Flew to destination without CMD engaged, landed normally. No freeze. At the same time I saw that TCAS system were inop. I checked busses, online, battery ON, stdby swith auto (as in normal configuration). Yaw damper was ON. Generators ONLINE. No fault messages, no advisory or warnings. TCAS OFF flag in ND1 and ND2. Afterwards (next leg) not only CMDA, CMDB, CWSA and CWSB button "freezes" but every else also. This is only in VC. In 2D panel the buttons are working except CMD and CWS buttons.1) First the CMD/CWS buttons stop working2) Then every other buttons stop working in VC (but works in 2D).3) This happend in every leg from now and I am unable to fly.4) Will try to install at other computer and research afterwards. Please contact me at [email protected] for further information. After this time, the a/c is not working prob.Tried: Deleted FSX.cfg, reinstalled NGX software, deleted panel state and flights I had saved, Started new flights, reselecting aircraft in FSX.REMARK 3: Some odd textures are showing up a few minutes after CMD not willing to response.
  21. EFB is not simulated, but how could they? I mean it is most realistic if you use a standalone EFB hardware like iPad for watching plates and QRH on. They have provided QRH allready : )
  22. Great that we have videoes like this! Just go on and film more flight teqniques : ) I have flown the old PMDG for aprox five houndred hours and allready read the AOM for 737 300-900: Learnt that you have to slow down to manage the turns correct. The NGX is very much like the real a/c. You use a bit of time to reduce the speed. Difficult the descent and reduce the speed at the same time. Something to take into considerations when planning speed and height for initial approach. Try to use LVL CHG and 260-270 knots from FL250 and downwards to FL100 and reduce slightly to 250 knots before reaching FL100. Try to start LVL CHG descent a tad before T/D mark at the FMC. Some 737NG pilots told me that the NG is predicting very accurate, but if you have a tad more wind or steep approach than calculated, you will get "drag required" and not be able to descent without using speed brakes. My 5 cents : ) Happy landings and take offs :DI am observer and this instructor gave me really nice 737 NG knowledge under an interview in a documentary about 737 NG made by me. The NGXis becomming very close to the real thing after mine opinion.
  23. Hello! Thanks for response! Profile / vertical situation is activated by pressing CTR button (round) in the middle of the mode button. I love the NGX! I am really glad in flying IMC and after real procedures, weather, limitations and notams. The NGX is superior and lets me do that. The system, vc and sounds are stunning!

Number 2 has stabilized at 23% N1 and shows normal engine parameters. IRS1 and 2 are aligned, what takes about 10 minutes. Otherwise: FMC is set. Cockpit preps and pre start checklist is done. A/T er aktivert før take off. Climbing out, starting right turn. I fly manually and struggle to hold stable course. Most of consentration is adressed to remain at correct climb out speed aprox 170 knots for the first houndred feet. Therafter right turn. LNAV and CMD is activated after 1000 feet AGL. LCL CHG and N1 is pushed. New MCP speed is not automatically set in MCP (from current IAS). Is this correct, my error or program error? When you push N1 button, shouldn`t you get IAS into MCP speed automatically? I gave up CLB1 and deleted CLB1 for CLB! Got 5-6 % N1 more! Turbo-mode =) Forlater koselige FL370 for 140 og deretter 6000 og så 4000 som minimum ved siste WP. We are leaving FL370 for FL140. Therafter 6000 feet and 4000 feet at last WP. Gave up VNAV at last. It comes up with restrictions at different waypoints. Sometimes 260, then 306 then back to 260. Maybe some bug in the STAR, but it was annoying. I converted to LVL CHG mode. Some pilots also tell that the real NG can be unfriendly at some VNAV operations. Sometimes it lives its own life I hear. (DESCENT PATH NOT ACH or DRAG REQ..) Sjekker 19R kart for Gardermoen. Mulig det var 19L som var i bruk. Fulgte FS TWR og fikk right. Anyway. Manglet to punkter i min STAR. Checking approach plate 19R for ENGM GArdermoen. Maybe 19L was in use in real. I followed command from FSX TWR. Two points were missing in STAR. Intercepter manuelt med HDG SEL. 10 grader ofset Manually intercepting with HDG SEL and 10 degrees ofset. Makes the day Begynner å bli mange år siden det var en overaskelse når RW var in sight når man brøt gjennom skydekker, hehe : ) Her stemmer også verden med kart, selv i FS. Er egentlig alltid litt morsomt, synes jeg : ) It becomes many years since it came as a surprise when the runway lights showed up befront of mine under the clouds : ) Here the world and map agrees, even in FS. Fun every time! Satt reverse off tidlig og lar flyet bruke hele banen. Også bare for morro skyld : ) Idle reverse and autobrake 1. Let the a/c drift all the way down the runway. Just for fun Shut down checklist kjøres. IRSer skrus av, parking brake set. Logbok signes. Shut down checklist. IRSes turned of, parking brake set. Logbook filed. Hearing the sound of the CFM`s spooling down I think by my self: "This was an amazing flight". This addon I have been waiting for, for 5 years. It was really worth it! Sorry for bad english : ) Very happy with this a/c. A little bit heavvy feel, but maybe this is correct. Comments are welcome : )
