  1. I am feeling unprepar3d... My rig upgrade has been put on hold....RTX 2080 TI cards are scarce unless you want to pay extreme prices. I wanted to run MSFS maxed out to enjoy the graphics, but I will have to see how far the GTX 1080 gets me.
  2. That’s a good point…financing development. I was so sure that MSFS2020 would charge a subscription for the data streaming and further development. I was willing to pay it. I also thought they would only allow DLC to be sold in their store for a cut of the price (similar to Google / Apple apps). So it is a mystery to me how MS will make much money with their current pricing model, but I imagine that they know how to pay their bills and satisfy the stockholders better than I do. Although I am determined not to get addons outside of planes, the money monster still eats in the end. The rig I am trying to build will now have the upcoming 3000 series card given that I can’t find any RTX 2080 TIs these days. I am determined run MSFS2020…all sliders to the right…at 1080p.
  3. For me…my “buck” stops with MSFS….the party is over…even for third party developers. I never liked Orbx selling a piece of the world at a time. I would not buy any additional airports / scenery. I am not looking for perfection….just immersion that is “good” enough. MSFS2020 stock is good enough, clouds….good enough, default airports...good enough. For me, MSFS brings the balance that I was looking for all along. Gone are the days of installing payware / freeware to improve the sim. If I spend any additional money, it will be for planes / helos that add to the sim, not replace anything.
  4. XP11+ still doesn't compare to what MSFS202 has stock. Not to mention the "tons" of addons required to get XP11 up to half-speed. So a comparison to MSFS2020 stock to XP11 "loaded" shows just how far MSFS2020 has come. I certainly don't want to have to "chase" after a good time...loading in addons, downloading freeware from the org (this requires that you also have that)...FlywithLuey....payware from the flight sim stores....dropping something in this folder....edit this file...oh wait, this really impacts performance...etc. The "Frankenstein" sim setups are no longer relevant thanks to MSFS2020. There is something to be said for firing up a sim, and getting the latest tech / best visuals stock. And I don't see any advantage over "not" having to stream scenery...considering that I am streaming 4k movies / shows on a daily basis...data streaming is more of a norm these days.
  5. But it sounds like a lot work to get you there on XP. MSFS2020 customers will just have to pay $100+, and get it stock. So yeah, I think the comparison is relevant.
  6. I was never interested in PMDG, and I certainly don't think that their product presence is necessary in a flight sim for that sim to survive in the market. Being a GA flyer, i am not trying to fly the type of planes that they make...with that level of complexity. And I certainly would not pay a high amount for a GA plane given what's offered in the sim stock. With all of that said, I am passionate about some hobbies to a point where price isn't a issue (ever heard of DJI drones?). And well, there must be something to PMDGs level of detail that gets people to pay those prices for what they are getting to satisfy that passion / need. So hey, if it costs over $100 and gets you the experience that you are looking for...got for it. To me, once I am enjoying the product, the price paid to get me the experience becomes irrelevant.
  7. MSFS2020 will have different issues for years to come. I mean modelling the world is a huge task. So I don't mind issues list considering what they are offering at the start... How many "years" has LR done nothing about their weather system / clouds that tank performance and don't extend to the horizon? How many "years" has LR done nothing about their AA and jaggad shadow lines? How many "years" has LR done nothing about their "awesome" lights that turn on in a grid pattern as you fly...killing the immersion? So, yes MSFS2020 will hit the store with issues, but they are surely listening, getting feedback, and acknowledging / addressing things at a much faster pace LR. And they won't sit back, and let payware / reeware devs try to fill in the gaps for "basic" features. MSFS2020 will "partner" with those who do it better, and combine that tech into their sim. This is why the crowd is more tolerant when it comes to issues with MSFS2020...they have shown that they are listening...they aren't making arrogant statements about not spending money on market research....they aren't making arrogant statements about not caring about what people want to hear. When I saw this vid in 2017, I knew that XP was not going to go much further...and it hasn't. Thankfully someone was listening and doing market research....and MSFS2020 is the result of that effort See 8:20 mark...
  8. MSFS2020 has been on top since their initial trailer.
  9. yeah...because you definitely can't beat em...
  10. Be sure to take cover on Aug 18th....I hear there is a storm coming....
  11. So many stuck on what it is not...as opposed to what it is... MSFS "is" the best thing that ever happened to flight simulation....it is the best you are going to get for the next 10 years. MSFS is bringing you the world...the world is not perfect...so don't expect MSFS to be either...get a grip people.
  12. Exactly... I like sims...with car sims I had a ton of them (Assetto Corsa, PCars, Game Stock Car, Codemasters...Grid....F1....Rally etc.), which divided my time. Although some did things better than others, I had to just settle on one to focus on / master that gave me the best overall experience...PCars. Flight sims (especially with tweaking, addons, updates & compatibility etc), trying to mange both P3D and XP became more of a hassle....I really just need one sim to give me the best overall experience. MSFS is just that sim for civil flight, and DCS World for combat flight. For me, I will never look back to the days of multiple addons to get half the experience that MSFS provides stock. P3D and XP are so outdated and behind, I can't imagine looking their way over the next versions, if they get that far along.
  13. It looks like the vehicle traffic is a work in progress....I definitely hope it gets better, but I realize that the sim won't be perfect at start. I like XPs vehicle traffic (lighting the road at night etc). I hope that MSFS gets to that point. But considering what we have thus far...I can wait for the vehicle traffic to get the level of attention as everything else in the sim.
  14. Given that he was originally skeptical of MSFS, and he is now talking about reviving his channel with new MSFS content, i think that is a good sign that most will be pleased with the release version. MSFS public relations / marketing team really nailed the communication (trailers, discovery series, Alpha testers,YT reviewer early access) to counter any long term negative press / rumors that would affect sales. That playbook was flawless....
  15. So how does this work??? The user can decide how much they want streamed, and this affects the pop in scenery. In other words, if I max the data stream, I can increase the view distance around my plane?
  16. Naw...it helps others identify trolls on the forum. I think you have found your archenemy in MSFS, and you know XP11 though XP100 won't compare to MSFS....and that's why the MSFS forums (that you scroll and troll) irk you so much.
  17. Maybe if there was anything interesting (or new) to discuss in the XP forum, you wouldn't find yourself here "baiting" for attention. The only recent thread over there on the XP forum with the "most" amount of replies was about MSFS (and its been locked for a week).
  18. Does this mean presets with customs views (key binding)? I don't really remember X-Plane's system as I always used the X-Camera Addon that allowed for views. offsets, and key binding. The system also had views that would disable Trackir while in that view. There was a profile for each plane.
  19. Stop making excuses for LR....small companies can "grow" to meet demands. Austin had other projects going on (mobile apps etc.) that took away from from the development of X-Plane...and I am not faulting him for that...he is much bigger than X-Plane. However, he did not see X-Plane as a priority and it shows. The sim got stagnant, he ignored basic things like clouds etc. As "he" said, he spends no money on market research...etc. As the flight sim genre grew, the demands grew, and now requires a more robust development platform. Austin has been at this for 2 decades....and did not change "his" company / philosophy (nor did he partner with other companies) to meet that demand.
  20. You know you will get MSFS as well, so don't be so hard on yourself.
  21. Like I said...too little too late. Come Aug 18, those claims won't even matter. XP users will be migrating over to MSFS like a herd of cattle.
  22. Really, write down that list...and vice versa... Start with clouds and weather....
  23. Well hey "you" said "wish"...and then committed to a post projecting "your" inner character / feelings.
