  1. Awe...there is the P3D I remember...with its hundreds of $$$ in addon "make up" to get a guy looking its way. Too much trouble for too little in return. I still prefer the natural beauty of MSFS.
  2. When I fly in P3D / XP11...it "looks like" and "feels like" I am flying in a sim... When I fly in MSFS...it "looks like" and "feels like" I am flying in the real world... MSFS all day...no religion...but it is a feeling that I just can't shake...
  3. Exactly...I almost did not recognize the sim without its "make up" on.
  4. I have not found any solution to the snap back issue. I did not file a report as I found a workaround that suits me. You can save "custom" views in the VC (much like their instrument views), even the default view. I save the "static" custom view that i want to glance at in VC without head movement (like instruments), when selecting that view, I have Trackir "reset" and then immediate "disable" actions bound to the same button on my joystick...when I switch to that view, I hit the (reset, then disable) button that locks the "straight ahead" look for that view, eliminating any snap back a few seconds later. This only works for custom views where I want no head movement, this does not work for "disabling" Trackir on the fly.
  5. There is an issue with the non PhotoG areas with assigning the correct building heights... The skyline in Atlantic City also has low rise buildings that should be much taller, like the Borgata casino.
  6. To me, some people who struggle with success in their personal ventures have a hard time accepting / acknowledging / praising success in others. The common saying from critics is that MSFS “looks great” but lacks depth. If we consider that many people had depth in other sims prior to MSFS, how did Orbx, Rex, Active Sky, Carenado thrive? Because people wanted something that “looks great.” He writes... “The beautiful scenery and modeling will engage “simmers” only so long before they return to FSX or X-Plane and the many add-ons that make those simulations much more realistic and complete experiences of “flying.” Those "other" many addons had much to do with "great looks" that people won't have to get in MSFS. And how much better will MSFS get when it gets those aircraft addons with more depth that every other sim requires for those so called serious simmers? MSFS has "positioned" themselves to be the flight sim of the future…therefore it is not about the people going "back" to other sims, they have already been accounted for. It is about the new people coming into the genre...for basically $100 they get the next gen sim and visual that match current gen games without the need for all those addons (costing $hundreds more).
  7. That is what many folk overlook, the extra's that often result in conflicts and more performance issues. Vulkan still has issues....and there has been no major advances on the level of MSFS.
  8. XP12, when i that release date (not cycles of betas) and features list? Are you referring to the stock lighting that "lights" up in square / grids as you fly by??? Oh, wait...is there another addon for that now? Is that default aircraft or payware??? And what about the sky that aircraft files in...is that realistic in XP11??? LR did nothing for years but make money...with little improvements over time. Jumped over to the mobile market where they make the most money, diverting resources from the desktop app. Austin bragged about not spending any money in market research....MSFS obviously did spend money on research, creating the sim, and advertisement...for a $119 product that XP users will have to spend 10X or more $$$ in addons to still fall short of MSFS offers stock. "...doing something right"...you obviously can't see it when it is staring you the face...for $119. Ok, come back in 3 years when XP finally gets around to XP11.2, I mean XP12.
  9. XP is more like give a man a fishing "rod" only, and tell him he will have a great fishing experience. He then realizes that the rod isn't enough and has to go out to get the reel, the line, the bait and the hook from other vendors to actually have that great experience. MSFS is more like that fishing complete package for one price, and a beautiful looking sky and water to enjoy that experience.
  10. From what I have seen, you will need an outside source if flying steam gauge aircraft. For planes equipped with a GPS unit / MFD, you will need to use the unit to display the apt freq. I have only flown the Virus SW 121 equipped with the 530, I have to scroll to the WPT page (int he GPS unit, not the MFD), enter the airport ID, and the additional pages within that category contain the runway info / freq etc.
  11. Hi, Is there a way to pull up airport info in the MFD screen for the G3X (Virus SW 121 plane). GPS direct flight to KLOM, I thought that I could pull up airport freq / runway info in the MFD. This info is available during flight setup prior to starting the session.
  12. Hey, as far as helis go, I will continue to fly XP. And I don't need XP to improve (other than performance) to get more out of my 3,000 ft or below flight with Helis. That will all stop when MSFS get Helis. I think XP will remain on PCs for one reason or another, but the major DEV (if we can call it that over the years) will stop, the fan base will be too small, and folk can get so much more for less $$$ and less hassle (with addons for this and that). I really don't think XP with see a version 12 with any substantial advancements...too little too late.
  13. XP has survived in the midst of "stale" competition... LR posture over the last year shows that MSFS is a threat to their consumer base...the couch gathering video...the talk of new things on the horizon...Austin's seemingly new found enthusiasm to engage with the community. The mobile platform (that cost him an expensive legal battle) may not be able to subsidize the desktop application (with a shrinking fan base), and with 3P Devs leaving XP as well. I doubt that we will see an XP12 (that is 2 -3 years away) with any substantial improvements that would warrant someone paying more for basically the same thing, the need for addon life support etc...when they can get so much more in MSFS.
  14. While I agree that LM will not have any financial concerns with their flight sim line, we all know that LM has been selling P3D in the consumer space under the guise of their academic license for years, and have their updates have been in response to their de-facto consumer base. I think the MSFS will pull back that portion of the consumer market and further advances will cease... Hey i don't know Austins financial standing, but he admittedly lost over 500k fighting the patent trolls over his mobile app. I admire his decision to fight / make the documentary, and the legal changes that have limietd the impact these types of lawsuits. I agree that he has other lucrative ventures besides XP which is why I think he will drop XP in the long run as a desktop application...It does return much for the invested time / $$$ required to keep the fan base and addon creators involved. Time will tell if his passion outweighs his pockets, but I believe that XP will be the best mobile sim only product in the future.
  15. Do you have the latest drivers with the MSFS profile?
  16. Try TV @30hz....Vsync in MSFS....FPS Limit @60
  17. I have not been there for a while, but the MSFS community on Steam have some guides that may help you.
  18. For me turbulence is there until I engage autopilot....autopilot seem to fly on rails and then it remains that way even after disengaging.
  19. Hi...really, really informative...you saved me from downloading med quality. The issue with downloading high quality (at least for me) is that I have to zoom in really close before the high quality selector become active...leaving me with about 8 square blocks to select at a time....it takes forever to complete a whole city with that selection size. Have you figured out a way to select a large areas (lets say Miami) at the high detailed level?
  20. 30hz TV, and vsync @60fps worked for me and many others...
  21. True... However, there is an issue with setting the fps limit in MSFS to 30 when running 30hz (it introduces bad stutters no matter what you do), therefore you have to set the fps limit to 60. There are many people (including myself) who have confirmed that this works. Despite how things "should" work, the workaround is 30hz, 60 fps limit in MSFS to get smooth performance.
  22. Can you sticky this setting?? I use the same setting and have help others (about 4 or 5) get smooth performance with these settings. I think there is an issue when people try to set their fps limit to the hz level of their monitor. When I ran fps limiter at 30 (with 30hz), I got stutters no matter what I did...even the lowest settings, it wasn't until I set the fps to 60, that things became very smooth. There are so many people complaining about their performance...no matter what they do...and the solutions are getting lost in the mix of posts. We really need a sticky (locked) with these settings that you have, because they worked for me and many others. This may also help Asobo see what working and whats not...
  23. I think much of the performance issues are due to vsync / frame rate limiter combo I have a 1080 card running at 1080p...and can run high / ultra setting with fluid motion like the video.. However, my TV is set to 30hz, with vsync on, and MSFS fps limiter at 60 (not 30, 30 introduces bad stutters). Several folks have confirmed this setting works for them. I think that there is an issue when setting the internal fps limiter to the hz setting on the tv /monitor. This is why people get stutters "no matter what they" and regardless of their GPU.
  24. I really wanted a Heli when finding my home....a fly by was good, but I want to be able to hover...and take in all in...visually. It will take time for MSFS to get helicopters...but when they do....it will open up a whole new world of experiences in the sim. Until then, there is so much to explore with what we have already.
  25. HI, I want to make sure that I am understanding your questions...and not giving erroneous info. Sounds like you can set your TV to 30hz For 4k, you have to set 4k resolution in "both" the sim (under graphics option) and through the display properties in windows 10 (under settings > Display) For render scaling, this option is the sim, in the graphics setting, a few lines below the resolution setting. You will want to be under 100, to scale down for better performance without sacrificing the visuals too much.
