  1. I'd say growing, for two reasons. Reason 1: Five years ago, FSX was the only sim anybody would talk about (for the most part). Now we have X-Plane 10, talks of X-Plane 11, DTG Flight Sim, P3D, Aerofly v1 and v2, new aircraft developers (like TFDi, A.T.S. in X-plane; even some of the more established developers like QualityWings are less than 10 years old), other sims I'm not remembering, etc etc. Reason 2: Some of these sims are available on Steam, and future sims (like XP11 and DTGFS) will be on steam too. That definitely brings in new users (even though some of those users may be the Xbox crowd, etc). Interesting question and interested to hear what others have to say, too.
  2. Thanks for the response. I've already gone back to Windows 7. I originally had Windows 7 so after I upgraded I used the 31 day "revert" feature of upgraded Win10. My question is if there are any Win10 files on my Win7 installation I can get rid of.
  3. Already exists in XP10! Can really get you on your toes if you're not expecting it
  4. Hi all, Yesterday I decided to try FSX on Win 10 did not like it. Win 10 is a good operating system (I use it on another computer for school) but I don't like it as an OS for flight sim. I reverted and everything seems to be back perfectly. My question: are there any Windows 10 OS files on my computer I'll never need that I can delete? If so, where are they stored? I'd imagine they are taking up a great deal of space on my hard drive, and I can't seem to find anything online about my specific question so I thought I'd ask here. Any help appreciated! Thanks,
  5. I don't think it'd be worth it. I'm still on FSX boxed because FSX SE just doesn't seem different/new enough for me. I'd try X-Plane if you want something new. Yes, your addons won't work, but it's a whole new experience (and that's the point of getting a new sim, right?). I'm holding out to see what Dovetail drops on us later this year, but till then I'm completely satisfied with FSX boxed and XPX. I'm also different in that I have no interest in P3D at all so that's why I haven't mentioned it.
  6. Do I have to remove v3 before installing 3.1 first? Or do I just run this installer over what I currently have? Thanks in advance,
  7. Level D just posted an update about the 757 on their forums!! Can't believe it! April Fools
  8. Pipe down, people. We're talking about flight sim here, not how to save the world. Jeez.
  9. Great shots! What sky colors are those?
  10. Very true actually. I just hope it's not too "arcade-y"
  11. I see where you're coming from, but I can tell you that a my Saitek stick is more realistic than a Xbox controller. I have 40 hours in a C172R as well and will be licensed next month. Anyway no offense taken and I'm all open for different opinions. If there wasn't any variety then life would be boring! And it's good that you seem satisfied. My personal preference is less-gamey though so I see XP as doing well in the future for the more serious people. Hahaha, yeah that's true, but many are still using it. So I guess I mean when a lot of people stop using it. I realize P3D is popular but I think FSX still has a larger user-base. Could be wrong though.
  12. In my opinion using an X-Box controller for FS is not exactly "realistic". Joysticks/Yokes make FS realistic. And how can you engage LNAV/VNAV, for example, on an X-Box controller?! It may be fun for some, but not for flight sim enthusiasts who want want their experience to be as realistic as possible. Most of us at Avsim want maximum realism, so I'm expecting a lot of disappointment. (I know I'm disappointed. I realize I'm saying this at a really early stage, too. I hope DTG proves me wrong). But for those who say that the future of FS is bleak, don't worry! X-Plane will remain the awesome desktop sim it always has been! Once FSX gets too old I see most of us going over to XP.
  13. Yeah I'm keeping Win 7 on the Flight Sim PC but going Windows 10 on my school laptop...that seems to be the best compromise. By 2020 my flightsim PC will be old anyways (by some people's standards it's already old) so we'll see what's popular then.
  14. How are you guys "not impressed" when all they've released is 10 pictures of the external model?!
  15. I'm assuming the 767 cockpit will be much better than the 757 cockpit, especially you look at how well done their A350 cockpit is. If it's better I hope they update the 757 cockpit in the future as well. I also just realized that this is the first high-fidelity 767 simulation for a flight sim since the Level-D 767! This is kind of big!!
  16. The FF767 Pro has been announced! (And it's got reflective textures!) External pictures over on FF's Facebook and on the .org forum: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Flight-Factor/466411353432633 Enjoy the pics!
  17. ##y AI is a re-branded version of ##e AI traffic, which, in case you didn't know, is pirated freeware. Don't download it!
  18. Aren't they both MD-80s?
  19. Hi all There's two new really good looking MD80s in the work for XPX right now. Everybody seems to know about the Rotatesim one but there's another one on the XP forums which is being built by a team led by forum user "parsec" too. Both have amazing texturing (pics on the XP forums, check it out). The Rotatesim one also has a high level of system depth (as evidenced by their website) but I have no idea what the system depth will be for parsec's group's md80. I've been following these for a while and was surprised that no one had posted about them so, well, here you go... Let the conversation begin!
  20. Actually just tried the 1.8 cockpit and I like it more than Pumper's. The textures seem "smoother" if that makes sense. Hard to describe - it just looks better so I'm sticking with it.
  21. We know the 757 is not happening for FSX, but they never said anything about XP. Also I don't think they ever agreed with LDS to not produce a 767 - I was under the assumption that was only for the 757. I'm assuming that the 7_7 is initially meant for XP since RSR mentions XPX right after mentioning the 7_7 in the PC Pilot article, so a 757/767 for XP isn't out of the question. 757/767 is without a doubt my favorite family of aircraft ever. That said, I'd love to do 20 minute island hops in Hawaii with a 717, just like Hawaiian Airlines does in real life... EDIT: only one person has said the 797 so far as well, so get hyped!!
  22. In my opinion, Pumper's cockpit is still better even though the new FF one uses some of his textures. The MCP in the new version is still 2D, while Pumer's MCP has 3D buttons, for example. That said, i'm judging by the pictures and haven't really tried it out yet, so I can't judge too much.
  23. Yeah I'm holding off on all texture replacements for the FF757 until the Russian guy releases his textures. Once those are out this airplane will be so much better, and I'll have no hesitation at all recommending the 757 to anyone.
