  1. Though no evidence of any fault with the plane has been developed, it's been a tough couple of years for the Triple 7. RIP to the passengers and crew.
  2. Sometimes on takeoff, when I engage the autopilot the plane starts descending instead of climbing. I disconnect the vnav and climb using the v/s. What's that about?
  3. The BA livery looks better the more I see it. I can't wait to fly this bird!
  4. I climb between 1600 and 1800fpm.
  5. That makes sense. Maybe I set my climb rate too high or my airspeed too low, but I get pretty nose high if I clean it up before I get past 250.
  6. I had no idea they retract the flaps so early. I always assumed they waited til around 10,000 feet.
  7. Before I commit to the full version, I wanna wait for the 77W release since I don't know I how much that expansion will be. The trial version looks pretty cool for the 2 flights I've done so far. A flight to and from a rainy ATL gave me a chance to see a nice transition into and out of the clouds. It did hit my frame rates pretty hard, but I don't think the Imaginesim KATL scenery helped much.
  8. Who knew the Triple 7 could get even better? Of course, it won't be in the air for a few years, but I hope PMDG puts it in the queue. Doesn't look like the 777 is fading anytime soon ^_^
  9. All of them, lol
  10. Yeah, I thought the $59.95 price probably the most reasonable for our hobby. I'm still not all that convinced that I'll leave FSX. I'm just a weekend pilot and I'm pretty happy with my setup, but Was curious to see if Prepar3d was really that much better. Pleasantly surprised by the objectivity.
  11. $199?!!! Is that the basic package price? If so, this debate is over, lol. I love simming, but I do other stuff with my life. I'll stick with FSX. Thanks everyone.
  12. I keep reading posts in the PMDG page about how great this Prepar3d is, like it's the second coming of the personal sim world. I've also looked at a few youtube clips and comparisons and I don't really get what the fuss is about. I generally can't stand photoreal scenery, and that's the only real difference I notice. And according to the website, it's not even intended for personal use. I know FSX has it's many flaws and aggravations, but I need more evidence on why I would want to pitch it, so I figured i'll mine this forum for info. I may get flamed, but if there's any valuable information in said flaming i'll take it into account. Please help.
  13. Crossing the pond from London to ATL. I started from ATL to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to London, and now I'm on the final leg back to Atlanta. That's pretty much my weekend. Still waiting for the 77W though.
  14. I love the 77W! If all models were released at once, it would be my choice hands down. She's so graceful and looks great in almost any livery.
  15. Cathay, British, ANZ All Black, Emirates. I feel like this has been asked before.
  16. Wow! Was that Chicago, lol?
  17. I like flying real time with any of my planes. And with the 77L, I'll either start a long one before going to bed, or before going to work. It's not that great to admit that I basically take off and land, but that's really all the action you're gonna get flying commercial. And for the others who go long haul, how do you keep your "pilot response" message from coming on? It lights up about every hour until I clear the FMC.
  18. An hour out of Seoul headed for Atlanta. Fictional Delta flight, but I'll wait for the 77W to do the real KAL flight.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJCuo9hlU9w 77W is sooo good! I can't wait for the release
  20. So after spending a little more time reading and pushing buttons, this plane is finally starting to grow on me. It has some annoying kinks, like a delay in the speed and altitude displays, but she's nice to watch once you develop the patience to set up the FMC. My first full flight happened to be Singapore to Atlanta overnight. If you're gonna fly an ultra long hauler, I say fly it ultra long haul ^_^
  21. Agreed. A little too much.
  22. I wish I could love this plane, but I have yet to complete one flight. Some problems I've encountered are: the plane loads cold and dark, and does nothing when I start the APU. The AP buttons take forever to respond when I click on them, and VNAV never works. The closest I got was this past weekend, when on a flight from ATL to HNL the sim crashed. It took me weeks after the release to bite the bullet and buy this add-on, and I can't say i'm overly thrilled. I really only have time to fly on the weekend, but i'm just as inclined to fly my QW757 at this point.

So if you have to pay extra for the expansions, how much would you pay if you waited and just bought them all at once?
  24. aerhead1 replied to aerhead1's topic in PMDG 777
Well, that's a lot of good feedback. VLJ510, I failed to mention that I love airliners and the only plane I fly now is my QW757. I do a couple of trancons each weekend. I only got into simming because I love airliners so much, and the 757 is my favorite plane of all. If PMDG came out with one, there would be no reluctance to buy it. But I do like the 777 for long haul and had a few Opensky 777s in my fleet back in the day. Gear Up, I know the 77W isn't released yet. I'm just pointing out that I like them, and would only get the LR to familiarize myself until the ER comes out.

I know this forum will be about as objective as the cows on the Chik Fil A commercials, but I'm sitting on $90 trying to justify buying this add-on. It's not as much about the cost as it is I don't know that it's the greatest thing since sliced bread that everyone says it is. I've watched YouTube video after YouTube video, and read all of the accolades on the PMDG Facebook page. I went ga-ga over the NGX last year for the same basis, and $70 later I flew the plane like 5 times. I was never a big 737 fan to be honest, but I do like the 777 and "love" the 77w, so I want to give it a shot. But i'm also not a "one hour preflight setup, flip every switch" type of simmer, so the realism of the flight deck is not the strongest selling point for me. I have 2 monitors, 1 for flight deck and one for external views and like to watch my flights from outside mostly. I just don't want to feel like I tossed away $90 that I could have used on something more practical(which most people would say is just about anything).
