  1. I wonder if this is the bug with having threaded optimization turned on or auto in Nvida control panel. Have you tried turning it to off yet?
  2. I don't really care for it on planes that would't have it. If it's a multi-million dollar business jet I wouldn't expect to see it all beat to hell like a like a military jet or a worn passenger plane. I think some companies over do the beat up look a bit over the top. If my eyes are constantly drawn to how crummy it looks then it's too much. For instance wear and tear around every single gauge bezel etc. stuff that doesn't really get touched.
  3. Go into your settings page and see what the amount of VRAM is used at the bottom of the page. Remember SLI video memory is not additive so if you have 2- 2GB cards you still only have 2GB available not 4GB. Iv'e seen XPX gobble up all 6 GB on my Titan so the post above is probably what your running into. Try turning on texture compression and lowering your AA to 2x or so if your using HDR.
  4. https://www.dropbox.com/s/aex0h0nupmjv8ib/Cpmdg.JPG?dl=0 In your start menu in the PMDG folder
  5. Improper overclocks and processor power management cause issues if you use ONLY HPET - on the other hand certain programs and applications do not work the best ONLY with Time Stamp Counter. Therefore I stand by the original info I posted leave it on in the BIOS and don't force HPET in windows. Windows can still access HPET as long as you haven't disabled it but it will not be the primary timer. I'd venture a guess that 90% of the people that are seeing a difference either have an bad overclock or improper BIOS settings to begin with.
  6. Here's a repost from ORBX forum burried in there and it fixed SABA for me because it wasn't showing up either: "For those having elevation issues with Vector 1.15 and on and if the airport you're having issues with isn't in the list for manually dissabling it; Go to your FSX folder and then to the ORBX folder and then to the VECTOR folder; go to the folder VECTOR_APT and open the "scenery" folder, you will see a list of all airports in FSX, go to the airport wich you want to change and copy that file ( for example; ABP_LSZH.bgl ), then go to the folder VECTOR_AEC and open the "scenery" folder and paste the ABP_ file there, now change the name from ABP_ into AEC_ and close everything. Go to your FTX config tool and open AEC tool, now your airport will be in the list where you can manually disable it and it works. Herman"
  7. This applies to display port monitors as well
  8. After a bunch of research: HPET is a multimedia timer built into your southbridge chip Intel started using them circa 2005 There is a newer timer called TSC Windows 7 it could be on or off depending on your hardware but for most Windows will use TSC, Windows 8 uses TSC by default. TSC uses much less overhead than HPET but TSC isn't ideal in all situations so the HPET timer is used as a fallback. Should HPET be disabled it will fall back even farther to yet an older standard( can't recall what it is) Intel chips of Nelahem or newer support the newer invariant Time Stamp Counter(TSC for short) Bottom line for most of us is to leave the HPET enabled in BIOS and have it off in Windows. Windows will use the TSC counter but still have the fallback capability of HPET as need arises. I did a bunch of FPS tests and checked for stutters with a DPC latency monitor running. There was hardly any difference.
  9. In my case it was on in bios and off in W7 , running some tests now.
  10. if it's an analogue connection then you could use a cable splitter on the FSX sounds output. A friend of mine had to do that because he didn't want teamspeak voices making the buttkicker going off on peoples voices.
  11. Not sure if it's a problem with the install on my P3D but the "manilla express" cargo ship is always just sitting idle at norfolk VA ( default area for P3D) all the other ships are moving along nicely.
  12. I didn't mean it to be misleading, just trying to simplify for a new user of P3D is all. But yes, as you and I know it goes way deeper than that as Iv'e seen you post in several of these topics as well. Baby steps before throwing in .cfg edits and tweaks. Yes the main thread spawns the loading processes on the other cores to load scenery in the the background to keep the main thread from bogging down/ causing stutters. Consider that P3D has to encompass a whole world whereas GTA is a small area. Once you cross into a new area not already cached in your computers memory will cause the new scenery to start loading. This is where the load on the other cores starts to happen. The other cores will also be used by several other addons but since your new I was assuming you don't own any of those yet?
  13. Yeah I have the same issue. Maybe we can get our friend Rob here to suggest to LM to give us a checkbox to disable AA on clouds - It's a huge performance hit. If Steve could figure out a way to do that in the DX10 fixer without access to the codebase , then I'm sure LM could give us the option. Maybe they hadn't considered it or tried it.
  14. The OP said the water didn't move, I never saw anyone mention how it looks over 1k feet? I was only posting a suggestion to check if he was getting water movement/3D waves etc...Ultra must be on to see the swells
  15. Even if you get proper SLI the cpu is still a liming factor. In other words if your cpu is already maxed out from the sim you're not going to notice much except being able to run higher settings that rely mainly on the gpu and or higher resolutions
  16. Looks like they removed the option in desktop color settings to switch between full range RGB instead of limited range RGB I wonder if they now just force full range. In previous driver releases the default was limited range RGB and to me it looked terrible, I always changed this setting to full range RGB immediately , the difference is very noticeable, This was a tweak I was going to post a while ago but I figured most people knew about it. Now it appears that the option is removed from our control. Im wondering now what the setting is since we can't control it.... EDIT: Nevermind the setting is still there , they just moved it to the resolution page - indeed they did change the default to full dynamic range. Still if you are using an older driver you can switch to full RGB to get the same nice full range color as this driver.
  17. P3D doesn't really compare to GTA - Mostly P3D is still only a single threaded app so the only thing the other cores are getting used for is scenery loading and a few other things. Bottom line is that you will see 1 core getting 100% used and the others only coming to life for scenery loading etc. Don't try to use the windows task manager CPU usage as a performance indicator as it averages all cores together which in the case of P3D is useless.. You are getting unstable framerates because you are using unlimited FPS. Try setting a limit of 35 or so. Yes you will get a slightly lower FPS but it will not stutter and should run smooth. I recommend to stay away from .cfg tweaks as most don't amount to a hill of beans and you will be back next week looking for another tweak to fix the problems the first one caused.
  18. If you want to see good waves you need to turn the water up to ultra and turn on bathemetry(supposedly wave heights effected by the underlying terrain) edit: if you REALLY want to see them , choose custom weather and crank up the wind speed to 36. You'll be blown away
  19. You need the file fix_ship_wakes_p3dv25_version2.zip I forgot where I found out about it but it's part of the ships packages but for some reason not linked in the first post. You can search that file in avsim library.
  20. Interesting, I'd forward your post to Aerosoft , maybe they can fix that.
  21. The waterconstants.xml is no longer in the Prepar3D directory but it gets generated in your C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 I wouldn't use that old one for FSX since this is DX11 it's probably a lot different
  22. Majestic proved how good it can work when the FM is uncoupled
  23. This is a great addon(s), really nice to see large ships. Thank you AI ship traffic team.
  24. Iran was using XP for their nuclear reactors which the US hackers quickly compromised and shut down....just saying. XP was so insecure, I once had a fresh non SP install on a clean HD getting popups and virus the second it was connected to the internet - good riddance. I don't miss the days of helping bail out every friend or family with XP...
  25. I fly em all FSX, P3D, XPX, DCS etc. Seriously guys this isn't a club or a mutually exclusive dating relationship fly whatever the hell floats your boat at the moment and enjoy it. The only limiting factors are money, HD space and time...
