  1. Even on air I doubt you tanked it at 3.0. My old i7 920 board will not post if the memory isn't right, try what Jim said.
  2. Not everyone has the problem with mipmaps , so if it wasn't broken for you enabling it may not show the problem for you. But turning it off does indeed fix it on some peoples systems. On the milviz 737 for example if it turn on mipmap vc the wx radar screen dissapears and you can see wires etc in there lol.
  3. +2 Been thinking this for years. By stripped down we don't mean like Windows basic that limits memory and CPU cores...just remove all the garbage, shovelware and unneeded services.
  4. If you are familiar with their previous releases of Virtual CDU for iFly 737, PMDG 737/777 and Aerosoft airbus there is now a new program to the new iFly 747 v2 What it does: Lets you use your tablet or iPad for a touchscreen CDU. It is very responsive and does the same thing as a $500+ hardware CDU. It will also work on the upcoming P3Dv2 version as well https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.virtualavionics.vcdu747 Can't say enough good things about their apps - best $20.00 addon you can get for these aircraft.
  5. On one hand I could see why it would be free - so they can have as many users on their new platform as possible and kill off their older OS versions very quickly, getting rid of the need to support these anymore and putting them up to task to take on Google etc. They want to be the dominant force for tablets and smartphones etc. On the other hand, "just because it's free doesn't mean there's not a price to pay". What is that price? Every new release of Windows nets them probably a few billion in sales? I know they have a lot of money, but leaving this much on the table seems so unlike MS. Will I find out too late I made the wrong choice going with a freebie OS? Are we going to get advertisements on our desktop to fund this or.....
  6. My personal opinion is that if you fly with high quality payware aircraft and scenery you will be disappointed in the performance. The 30hz thing really bothers me too...seems like it will cause eyestrain and noticeable lagging/ghosting. I've got a Titan and overclocked CPU driving a surround setup that is less resolution than 4K and at times the framerate is less than acceptable on P3Dv2 or FSX. I imagine the performance hit will be quite a bit more on 4K. 5760x1080 = 6.22 million pixels 3840x2160 = 8.29 million pixels You need one helluva GPU + the fastest overclocked single threaded performance CPU you can afford. FSX and P3D get little if any benefit from SLI or crossfire. I'd venture a guess should you fly and NGX out of KLAX or KJFK you will get a whopping 7-10 FPS at best. If you have to reduce your display settings a lot just to get decent performance then the benefit of 4K seems lost to me. I will not even go into the implication this will have on VAS and OOM problems as that is self explanatory. Again just my opinion.
  7. If you use FSDT airports you don't ever need to disable those, seems like I read a post from Virtuali that the way their airports work if you overfly it it's not going to load everything into your memory anyways...
  8. Very true , point taken. Thanks for the reply. Anxiously awaiting the P3D versions -
  9. It doesn't happen all the time. Exactly when/where/why/how to me is unclear but now the problem never happens since I put in that typo fix.
  10. More excited about the rumored tesselation feature...whichever version that will land in.
  11. You can do long hops, the time acceleration feature is your friend. Even though the same basic VC it just plain feels heavier and beefier, I hardly fly the smaller one anymore except the cargo.
  12. I saw this typo error fix somewhere else too and put it in my config some time ago , hopefully they make a patch for the FSX v2 version and get rid of the typo in the P3D version thats coming as well. I'm surprised that they didn't jump on this and offer a patch. Does everyone that flys a realair just takeoff and fly around and never land it lol? I really like the B60 and they always seem to be on top of things but this has gone unacknowledged for like a year. While I agree hitting invisible buildings is still a problem rarely at some airports one shouldn't have to turn off crash detection for a typo in an aircraft.cfg, It's an easy fix. Edit: Just to clarify I also tested it with the fix with crash detection on and it works good, no stuck gear and does belly landing fine without any gear. This thread should be moved to the the Realair section so they notice it...
  13. Flight sims are just that, flight sim. It would be a monster undertaking to implement proper ATC for little return. Not only that people will want proper AI to work with the ATC. What good is the ATC if there is no traffic around you that is also being controlled by ATC? Yeah i know there is Ai traffic that followsa flight plan. even with FSX you will need an external addon from another payware developer. You can always go on vatsim after all.
  14. Autogen and traffic settings are really CPU dependent. With your setup you shouldn't go over 20% or think about the freeware traffic manager if you must have that high of settings. I'd also consider the freeware traffic manager program. It'll let you see lots of traffic around you and cull out the junk you can't see. Even with an OC I7 the best you can hope for at a heavy airport is 22-25 FPS at higher settings. So you really need to decide if it's worth it DX10 can help you free up a bit more of the 4 GB VAS limit as it is not directly tied to the 4GB limit as DX9 is but you will need the DX10 fixer to have a good experience with it. I'm sure you get OOM's as a result of your traffic settings... The bottom line is that the CPU must be able to feed the GPU fast enough , if it can't you get what you have, That is seemingly low GPU usage as the main program thread is already maxed at 100% and can't push instructions to the GPU any faster. Anything beyond 4 physical cores you need to go for highest single threaded CPU performance you can afford.
  15. Got the 407 P3DV2 version on a Christmas sale for like $20 great for exploring Orbx and fairly easy to fly. It also has a force trim which is very nice to see in an heli for P3D/FSX With the force trim you just move your stick to where you want it , click the button and it will hold the virtual stick in that position so you don't have to continually keep pressure on your real stick. Overall very happy with it.
  16. The product was never advertised with a WX radar and here we are 4 years later with people demanding it. Sorry Kyle you should have left this post alone lol. Seriously if your system can't handle the 777 why would you even want it? ASN has a gauge you can install to any AC and you can open their app and get your precious weather. IMO it's not that big of deal, Next thing people will want the WX radar for the MD 11 BAE4100 and old 747. WX wasn't even going to be an option in the T7 until the last minute anyways you guys need to lighten up...you got what you paid for in 2011 Ask yourself is adding a WX radar going to generate anymore sales for a 4 year old product that anyone who wanted it probably already has it?? Doubtful. So who will fund this?
  17. Yep thats the one, you could install the other versions as well if you have an addons that were compiled against those versions too. They are all stand alone so you don't have to worry about if you installed an older version etc. I've never needed the older versions for anything TBH though so I wouldn't install the others unless you really need it.
  18. There is a simconnect redist for FSX:A in your P3D/redist folder folder should you need to re install it.
  19. So an obvious question: Did your himemfix line somehow get removed from your config? That would explain it as it frees up a few hundred megs more for the program to use closer to the 4GB mark Also for the T7 there is an option for lower sound files in the operation center that can reduce your memory footprint a little, maybe enough so that you can finish your flights.
  20. Wondering how this pertains to software licenses because in truth you don't own the software you are paying to be able to use it so what exactly are they taxing?
  21. Robert after pulling my hair out for 2 months on this problem I finally figured out the cause of the screen freezing issue on my system. Multiple reinstall/clean installs reformat OS etc nothing fixed it as in your case. Even though it sounds strange this issue only happens on P3Dv2 but it is not a LM problem as far as I can see. It is a driver issue with a Corsair keyboard - very repeatable now that I tracked it down. I uninstalled their software and the problem went away when using default windows keyboard driver. How I traced it down: I stumbled across a freeware program to detect application hangs http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/what_is_hang.html "WhatIsHang" I ran it and just left the window open while using Prepar3d and sure enough when P3D was "hanging" when clicking in different windows etc. I clicked on it and it showed that a USB device appeared to be the culprit. I Still couldnt figure it out since it only shows a VID(VendorID) and PID(productID) and I have many USB devices - found a webpage for USB VID's and did a search within that page to figure out exactly the device - http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids Turns out it was Corsair and my corsair gaming keyboard causing the issue. Anyways the "WhatIsHang" program may help you track down your problem if you haven't blown up your PC and started over. I suspect it is hardware related.
  22. So no radar, radio, acars, mfr engine data or any of other numerous sources of information...no concrete proof of anything. So many sources of information about what happened but nothing but talking heads from media...sounds familliar.
  23. I asked about this after the release of 2.0 about the value of 30 and why so low of a default setting. Didn't get a definite answer except that the setting may be depreciated for P3Dv2 and left in there for compatibility. Back then I tried 120 and saw zero impact on my system so reverted it back to the default of 30. At any rate the way I see it if your GPU is already maxed out you would probably see no benefit from this setting. If your GPU is being artificially held back due to this setting then you may get a benefit from it. As with any other tweak it will affect each persons individual system differently based on their hardware thats why we are seeing different results. Edit : My initial thought was that they kept it at a low number because of adding tesselation to the GPU so as to leave a bit of headroom for that to work...
  24. It's 2x the HD space. Best case the installer for your addons supports dual install and has entries for both in your add/remove programs in control panel or worst case it only lets you install for one so the last install is the only one you can /repair/reinstall/remove...
