  1. Go get the expansion pack for another $12 while your at it. Worth it.
  2. TACAN has VOR/DME but for military aircraft only - you need a military radio that operates in the 960-1215 Mhz range. It might be colocated with a VORTAC that they let civillians use for navigation, you'll have to check your charts. I'm not so sure that they even have the TACAN modeled in XPX but I could be wrong as I don't own any military jets. Most US planes use channels too so you don't actually see the frequencies.
  3. Are you using ASN by chance? There is a setting "Disable ASN texture change fix" under the rain settings in the fixer give that a try if you are.
  4. Not saying everyone is a crook but one only need to look at the "FS Genius" debacle to realize you need someone trustworthy. @arnava1304 if you really need help getting your P3D up and running, the LM forums and AVSIM are wonderful resources. If you run into problems I could help you if you'd like via teamviewer, or you could join the teamspeak of the group I fly with, but I would never take a penny of your money.
  5. I wish they wouldn't double charge you for the same software just to run in P3D and handle it more like A2A does (you can purchase both versions in the same order for a discounted rate). I'm not implying that they give a free update for P3D, I just want to get a fair price and paying double isn't what I'd consider fair.
  6. I wouldn't trust anyone around my software keys. It's relatively painless to install, just don't let it install to program files x86 so you aren't affected by the usual windows problems. You really don't need to tweak the config like FSX.
  7. go into the operation center and try to pick one of the sound packs in there
  8. My bad you are correct 64 bit is faster. I meant to say that 32 bit was slower but somewhere between brain and hands I typed it wrong
  9. The only thing 64 bit is going to fix is OOM - 64 bit code for the most part runs a few % slower. If they can manage to offload more off the main CPU thread so that the program isn't just limited by single thread performance that would be nice. I've often wondered why if some devs like Majestic can make their flight model run external to the sim then why can't LM peel that part of their code out and make it run in a separate thread, same for traffic and for gauges /displays - Those are the biggest performance killers IMO.
  10. Here in my part of the world they made a special brew for you: http://foundersbrewing.com/our-beer/curmudgeon-old-ale/
  11. Those curved LG monitors are a good compromise between 3 screens with bezels and a 4k monitor, neither of which is really good for FSX or Prepar3D V2 at this time due to poor performance and/or OOM. 3440 x 1440 LG curved = 4.9 million pixels 5760 x 1080( no bezel correction) = 6.2 million pixels Typical 4K 3840 x 2160 = 8.2 million pixels SLI nets you exactly zero performance since it won't work properly in FSX and P3D and probably never will. So you can see with the LG you have a nice wide curved surface with a bit more height than a 3 screen setup yet you don't overload your GPU and have less of a chance for OOM's It's a win all around. I've done literally hundreds of FPS tests and that 3440 is a nice resolution , just on the border before your performance starts to go into the tank. 4K isn't ready for prime time on either sim until they got to 64 bit AND aren't hobbled by single thread CPU performance As for the TV's I'm, sorry a big TV isn't cutting it the pixels are just too big and the 120 and 240 refresh rates just don't work on a PC that well. 4k is a headache and don't fool yourself into thinking you have a fast enough system to make it work. It'll only lead to sadness. ( Mind you I'm only talking of FSX / P3D)
  12. iFly 747. Smells like a turkey day release to me (or very close to it)
  13. Please...if it were numbers of video games sold only then there would be no such thing as CUDA etc. How many CAD programs do you think are sold - even if it's for a several thousand dollar Tesla card, exactly how many of those cards do you think they really sell? Yet there is all kinds of driver support and SDK's . They probably make more on Titan sales than those...a flight simulator more falls into the category of those types of apps even though it uses nearly all gaming tech to achieve that end.
  14. This problem (for me) just started happening out of the blue. I've got to start undoing every change that's happened to my PC since a few days ago. I'll tell you right now it's none of the obvious suspects.
  15. Wondering how this "tweak" affects other stuff such as tesselation at various settings. This ain't your daddy's FSX...
  16. They are going to make a ship for RSI Star Citizen...
  17. Funny I replied to this thread now I'm having nearly the exact same problem. Only thing I touched settings wise was the shadow settings and my mouse driver updated. As I recall one of the devs had said something in regards to the first few runs of the sim that it's building the shaders. Not sure if this is the problem though... strange as I haven't ever had this problem. As soon as I click the desktop or anywhere out of the P3D window I get a freeze for a few seconds...
  18. You'll probably need to enable the checkbox "Wide-view aspect ratio" seen in the above pic
  19. Some differences: iFly offers more variants in the base package, PMDG they are extra PMDG has a better HUGS that is collimated PMDG has better cockpit textures iFly was made to interface to external hardware a bit easier that the PMDG, the cockpit builders edition takes it to the next level but this is an additional $500 or so - PMDG has nothing to compare to this it can on run on 1 PC iFly has a working WX radar if using ASN PMDG has more realistic lighting (i.e more zones , more functional dimmers etc) PMDG has slightly more systems modeled (I think) iFly has a 2D panel if thats your thing
  20. Robert a couple of suggestions: -Verify the "pause on task switch" item in Gerneral options is unchecked -Try unchecking the "Mute on lost focus" option under sound ( could be a soundcard issue with the sim loosing focus) Also if you have recently changed any hardware or drivers: -Check your power profile in windows, make sure it is on high performance. I've caught windows changing the power profile as a result of driver changes or simply moving a USB device to a different port. Your CPU and/or GPU could be slowing down when you switch tasks -If using an Nvidia GPU check your P3D profile and make sure the Power management mode is set to "Prefer maximum performance" instead of adaptive -Also certain Nvidia drivers on certain hardware can cause all kinds of weirdness, Version 337.88 has been one of the most reliable driver builds for P3D
  21. Thanks again for letting us be part of the process and listening to the endusers. Great addon 10/10 Best features: -Head roll implemented -Can enable/disable the TrackIR on a per view basis I know it's not a TIR only plugin but if you have TIR then this is a "must have"
  22. I hope they can manage to get a higher production otherwise I doubt I'll have mine before March of 2015. They said they hired someone to help with that, here's hoping.
  23. I wonder if the P3D version will be really compiled for P3D or just a copy over from FSX. Airplanes made for FS9 or whatever don't work that great for me on P3D...they seem to hit FPS way more
  24. Try any combination of running the installer and/or the configurator as an admin, especially if you have UAC turned on or you installed FSX to the default programfiles x86 directory...
  25. I'm guessing that the dual yokes will not be an option now as they dropped the Ethernet support for the first version. AFAIK it's not possible in FSX to have multiple controllers assigned to an axis, it would need to be done via simconnect or a remote software that could sync the yoke connected to another PC.
