  1. It's a technique to make the viewer focus on just the sounds. Maybe a bit too long but that's how it is. You don't know what i have seen and how often i see it 😛 Taking pictures of sunrises and sunsets kind of require you to use your own eyes first, to point the camera at it. And at least here in Italy that means i am able to see the sun and not just a white-ish blob of light on the horizon. I am sure it can happen, is it however the norm or what would be the most representative display of a sunset? Probably not! Anyhow about this, we'll see once we can get our hands on it and even before once streamers and videomakers gets the go ahead.
  2. It is a cool feature, i remember i tried the XP10 demo again and again and again, took me some time before buying the product and then i went forward from it 🙂 Either way i agree with your post about graphics (which i forgot to quote and now i am too lazy to recover), it will be an improvement over XP11 by far because lighting and weather are those technologies which i think greatly affect the overall picture. It will never be on par with the other sims, what i care about is in the XP 11 vs XP 12 leap without having to buy tons of addons for it to work, having to tweak cfg files etc etc. Which it will without any doubt still be needed for orthos and sceneries, but HOPEFULLY not for lighting and clouds 🙂 I think the gamepass is a great thing too to try games before buying, considering you can try anything you want in that timeframe (i think the minimum is 30 days). warning: for me anything that doesn't make me physically fly is a game, hence why i call them all games.
  3. They don't necessary have secret agendas. Secret agendas when talking about a program running on a computer sounds childish to me. Excluding the try hard trolls (which, i have to state again, are on both sides), the rest are just expecting things at a certain level considering we are in 2022. XP always aced certain aspects of flights, XP12 is their graphics update baby for a good part and this will be what i will expect them to improve (and they are). By the way, by making such posts you are deteriorating discussions just like they are. As for the video itself, talking about things i like (hint, it means for the other things i am satisfied with): At 1:10 there is a flickering on the horizon. I am not fond of the big white blob of the sun when it's low on the horizon, it looks more like a nuclear explosion than anything else. I prefere what i see when i take pictures of the sun (Disney's Lion King, you know?) and also what others simulators show. Hopefully easily fixed. 1:30 sky banding still there, but less visible. Could still be a matter of youtube video compression. 2:10 cloud flickering in contact with the mountains/hills 2:18 film grain on the clouds, just like in xEnviro and MSFS.
  4. Did they clear out pricing yet? Officially?
  5. The hype is obviously high and so are the expectations regarding graphics from what other simulators achieved or are trying to achieve too, besides the moment they release something to the public is the moment everybody will see and have an opinion on it. Nothing wrong with that, and it won't be my comment to move someone else buying preferences on X-Plane or even what LR will do. However this is a forum and taking about what we care about and see is all there is too it, with the good and the bad things. Besides i am been the first to mention this is early alpha stuff (and Laminar have a tendency to care less about showing unfinished stuff compared to other companies) and i am sure there will be plenty of time to fix those issues.
  6. Thanks, was going to talk about that. I'll leave the physics, avionics and flight dynamics things alone since we all know that have never been the issue of XP and the biggest improvements coming to XP12 are the graphics one (i think). Okay what it shows is that it is still obviously work in progress, but promising. Clouds wise, they are dealing with the early steps of volumetric clouds like other titles did in the past. I noticed how clouds tend to be overly soft and not very dense, this could be an indication that they are adopting this solution to save on fps (that's what Il2 sturmovik did in its early volumetric clouds days, and even xEnviro). I also noticed there are some scenes where clouds behind other clouds are too visible (almost as if the first line of clouds wasn't covering the second one). Scenery wise there are two things i noticed. Those, sadly all XP like, squares of roads without houses inside (either because data doesn't know if there are houses there or because some city blocks are removed to save on performance) and that the airport with the puddles, in the last part of the video, looks weird with reflections a bit too overly done and visible from the distance.
  7. Ahah it's because it is one of those things that always annoyed me in XP11. And i think i spotted it in an early XP12 video as well now that i think of it. But yeah, hopefully they will work on getting rid of it. The Il2 sturmovik series actually got rid of it just recently as well https://il2sturmovik.com/news/697/dev-blog-306/
  8. I hope the sky banding is a matter of picture compression.
  9. Different sim with different pricing, fanbase, competitors and environment stability. MSFS is a different thing and it shows, especially for those devs that kept doing the same thing over and over again in an extremely stable environment
  10. Screens with vanilla MSFS without changing thing in the .opt file might be better. Still, your second screenshot seems overly sharpened. Pixelled clouds have been with us for ages, but never so much.
  11. Are you sure you are not using reshade or Geforce Experience filters? Because i have never seen things that sharp ever. Grainy clouds, sure. But that level of sharpness never.
  12. Are you sure that the H145 profile is the most well developed? Because reading from their discord a lot of people kept asking them to work on it and they said that they will eventually work on it, but so far it seems that they are focusing more on the "default" flight dynamics. Which also explains why things are a bit different on the R-44, the most polished chopper AirlandFS profile wise (imho).- The H125 is also new and work in progress in that regard.
  13. Well, exactly what are you looking for? The list posted is one, then you can find the release posts of the various World Update to see the new cities added.
  14. The sky can look like that but not every time. That's not the issue tho, what i think you find not natural is the fact that all the surfaces on the ground are not reflecting all the light that is still in the sky. Regarding photoreal sceneries and such, i think i remember from old times that even if a scenery used the same orthophoto, the addon on P3D used much less storage space because the files were packed and compressed while in XP the size would be quite bigger. Is this something i remember right, and if it is, woudn't it be nice to have a similar feature in XP too?
  15. The Fenix video looks great! As for weather, i don't think IFR and historical conditions are linked. I coudn't care less in fact. What matters to me is that when i am flying, at that time, the weather is as real as technically possible (still work to be done but enjoyable still). I can't find conditions with hot air or fog? That's why you can set your custom weather, and there are even presets already done by the community on the usual file sharing sites. For anything else, i invite you to read my signature which i think fits most complaints around done by chair captains.
  16. Whenever you can, post some screens 🙂 I won't be able to get back to my simming pc until mid week 😞 At least i'll see some screens from you guys about places you liked!
  17. I tend to agree on the fact that it is great, however it comes down a lot on the single PG cities data. Some are better than others. I also dislike how they tend to have a brown tint (at least the ones in Italy) which really stands out compared to the normal autogen covered zones
  18. Thanks! It looks like it might add something, but i am really hoping this comes down to everyone without having to pay for it. It's one of the good reasons of using MSFS instead of older sims imho.
  19. Great to see it! It's what i miss the most when flying in Italy on the coast because we are really surrounded by them 🙂
  20. Flightsim.to is the go to site for MSFS addons, there you'll also find Global AI Ship Traffic. https://flightsim.to/file/9529/global-ai-ship-traffic-msfs-v1
  21. Something they were not very eager to talk about in the over 4 announcements in a few weeks they did 😛
