  1. I've been enjoying it for 8 years and love it more and more..... I feel blessed and very fortunate to have such an amazing flight simulator that gives me so much pleasure.
  2. But Pe11e, your signature still says "back to airbus!"
  3. 6 miles from Durham! (East, towards the coast)
  4. Ahhh.....funny lot you Cheshire people - a bit scouse, a bit manc, and a tad Yorkshirey .... ..... smoother accent than the scouses though! It's a little like people from Northumberland up here; definite Geordie traits but with some Scottish and other influences (like Norwegian!). Looking forward to the F/O course, and the news that there will be a Airbus curriculum has made my day.
  5. I've now finished all 10 parts of the videos and have to say it's amongst the most enjoyable flight sim video time I've experienced (in 15 years of simming). More importantly, it has completely revolutionized how I feel about, and respect the Majestic Q400 product. The fact that every little nuance (for example, the idiosyncrasies of how setting the Doors and Electrical pages on the SYS screens works) is reflected so well in the sim, is pretty staggering. My enthusiasm for the Q400 has been hugely revitalized due to everything I learned from this training, and now that I'm operating it more closely to real world methods ...... it's all I'll be flying for a long time I think now. The guys do talk fast - it's no issue for me because I'm a British Northerner, and Ben's a scouse and I think I detect a Leicester / Derby / Nottingham (East Midlands) accent on Josh, so no trouble for me to understand them lol! ...... but I can imagine it being a little more difficult for non-primary English speakers. It sounds like the guys are planning to slow the talk down a little in the F/O course though, so all good. What really comes across and really makes this product though is the passion and enthusiasm from both gents.
  6. Hi, After setting the AP and ALT mode, I think you have to then adjust VS / Pitch to start the climb. In other words, I don't think the AP will command a climb or decent just from your setting the alt and engaging ALT mode, it needs a pitch change to be set too. Give it a try.
  7. Wow - Original thread 9 years old, the reply to it was 6 years later, and today's reply a further 3 years later - Impressive!
  8. Yeah. I mean, there are problems with BBS and I think most would agree they are under-delivering on their promise, but to joke about how many more of their family members will die before the product reaches v1.0 is absolutely sick in the head. I hope this guy is getting psychiatric attention, because he certainly needs it.
  9. You're kidding me? ...... these are photos of the real thing, right? Absolutely beautiful! I agree that the Carenado model is too systems light really, and that the feelThere version although far inferior in terms of texturing and modelling, has better systems; for example, at least it has a proper working FLC climb mode (rather than fudging the FSX autothrottle on an aircraft that doesn't even have an autothrottle, as the Carenado model does!). Personally, I hope Carenado stick to what they do best - exquisite modelling of less complex aircraft. That way you get the beautiful visuals and the aircraft is still convincing to operate. Going 'complex' was Captain Sim's downfall IMHO; remember when they stuck to old, less complex jets like the Legendary, with basic autopilots etc...... back in those times (c.2004), Captain Sim was a name aligned with quality. Their C130 was fab too, and their 707 pretty good. Then came their 767 with faulty VNAV, etc, etc, etc, and the rest, sadly, is history. Developers should capitalize on the things that they do really well IMHO. For Carenado that is literally the best modelling and texturing in the industry - but their systems modelling is well, well, below par. This is probably why I've bought most Alabeo releases lately, and haven't bought the last few Carenado releases (from the TBM onwards). Sorry for the waffle, and again FAB PICTURES!
  10. Hello Manish, and greetings to India (somewhere I've visited 3 times and love the country  ). Great initial addons. If you like Airbus, then the best one to go for at the moment is the awesome; Aerosoft Airbus X A320/A321 :- http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?action=article_detail&s_supplier_aid=12065&s_design=DEFAULT&shopfilter_category=Flight%20Simulation&s_language=english It's a fantastic Airbus simulation. Have fun!
  11. You can use the word "legacy" if you wish but the fact of the matter is, the MD-11 is still a fantastic product for FS, and still worth the price it is sold as. The core systems simulation is as good as the T7 IMHO (albeit there are less supporting features, such as auto-cruise, etc). The graphics aren't as polished as the T7 but the plus for that is that the performance is better. (and the textures aren't anywhere near as dated or bad as some people make out). Even when it was just $10 less than the T7 ..... to me, it was worth more because I fly and enjoy it more than the T7. Anyone who is a fan of modern jets, complexly simulated, and/or of PMDG is just missing out if they don't buy the MD-11 for the reason that it's "legacy", or that it's "EOL". Don't you see, these are just labels? ............. It is what it is ...... an amazing simulation and product. Up there with the very best. I am truly not a rich man. but if I somehow lost my MD-11 purchase and the price went up to $130, I would buy it in a heart beat.
  12. I agree, a lot of people prefer the lower zoom settings because they make motion appear fast and perhaps more dynamic and exciting in the sim. (A point to note is that Orbx recommend a viewpoint of 0.30 or 0.40 in some of their manuals, perhaps because it means you get to see more of the scenery outside (albeit in a fish eye manner), and also because FSX's rendering engine makes the scenery look more crisp the lower the zoom setting. But the experience is far from realistic with zoom settings like that. Everything about it; how much of the VC you see from your straight-ahead eyepoint, how much of the periphery you see, how fast the runway appears to move when on your TO and landing rolls. It's fast and fun with these 0.40 or 0,30 settings but far from reality. I believe the most realistic view is a zoom level of 1.00, but some of FSX's artifact factors mean that some aspects (such as crispness of textures) are negatively affected at 1.00, so personally, I believe 0.80 is the best overall zoom level. TrackIR blows both methods out of the water
  13. I think (from memory) you hold down the FORMAT button for a few seconds. (Then adjust range as required).
  14. Couldn't agree more! I downloaded all parts yesterday and as I had a busy weekend ahead thought to myself "I'll just watch the intro, and the rest next week" ...... anyway many many hours later and I am currently half way through Part 6! Josh is an extremely professional, knowledgeable pilot. I would expect that if his employers saw his work and natural training and explaining skills on display in these videos, he'd be in line for promotion. Seriously, I have many aviation DVDs and some time-served training captains don't have as strong skills as Josh demonstrates in these videos. And Ben is a superb cadet/trainee - enthusiastic, knowledgeable, but not afraid to show the odd mistake (that we all make!), especially where forgetting to turn off taxi lights are concerned! If I'm being uber picky and entirely subjective, I'm not 100% keen on the guy who does the introductions stuff - a very formal "voiceover" style voice (He sounds a little like the guy off TV who reads out the Lottery Numbers in the UK!). But the training is very polished and professional, with brilliant visual cues alongside the high quality audio training. 10/10, and an absolutely MUST for Majestic Q400 fans. Excellent tip!
  15. Fair enough Bob. We are indeed lucky to have a number of producers of great high end sim training and tutorials. I am currently up to Part 6 of the Airline2Sim training and loving every second (Dying to see if Ben will remember to turn that Taxi light off, when he starts his line flights!).
  16. Fantastic. Thanks for confirming!
  17. Thanks for that Lee. One thing I have not seen mention of with this development, is whether it will include an integrated solution for key assignments (including custom functions)..... [i'm thinking mainly for the MCP here]. So will the plane truly be PMDG standard (who always provide a GUI for key assignment), or are we talking "mouse clicks only" a la Captain Sim* ? Thanks. * I'm not in any way comparing the FSL A320 to Captain Sim! .... I am observing that Captain Sim never ever provide any key assignment functionality, so I am hoping the FSL won't share that similarity.
  18. I'm not bringing anyone down. I am merely giving an opinion that the A2S content is in a different league in terms of professionalism. It is fair to acknowledge though, as AJPongress touched upon, that the 'streaming' debacle with AoA was very disappointing and did put a lot of people off. With A2S being Vimeo hosted, from the second you purchase, you have the immediately option to watch (stream) or to permanently download your films.
  19. Picked up today too. Honestly, if you're interested in flying your MJC Q400 properly, this is a NO BRAINER !! Top quality presentation, information, ease of purchase etc. Just buy it - I couldn't recommend it highly enough. I thought I knew a lot about the Q400 but within 10 minutes I had learned things I hadn't known, as a simmer. Honestly - it's better. Because it features a real world line pilot on Q400s and that makes a huge difference.
  20. I use the NGX and Opus (latest version) and have never ever seen this problem. I can see from your video why it would be frustrating though! But something is amiss. Throwing the NGX away would be like throwing your baby away because her pushchair has a bucked wheel and is bumping as you go along. I'd try an unistall and reinstall of Opus personally.
  21. Exactly right. I think that's what most of us were saying... some people (especially self-appointed PMDG gurus) just like to come down on every other person's opinions in an aggresive way - even when it's not necessary.
