[01JUN16] PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster Released for X-Plane!
I may have forgotten to remove the control lock and crashed about three times cuz I couldn't take off... After about an hour of messing around pointlessly I sat down, turned off the AFE and began to start the aircraft. Took me a few minutes, but I was able to get all four engines running healthily (I hope!) and the aircraft moving under control. Gotta install it on my laptop so I can practice systems while I'm out of the house, also time to read that manual! Have to say, I love PMDG and am very excited that you guys are over in XP and look forward to what's coming next. The DC6 is a beautiful aircraft, my silly friends are saying I wasted my money because no one flies it any more but it's the best $70 I've spent recently. Thanks PMDG for such an awesome addition to the XP community! Cheers, Krikor

[09DEC15] End-Of-An-Era: End of Life Information 747-400X and MD-11X
Very sad to see tje MD-11 leaving the PMDG ranks. I am a proud owner of it, and love flying the MD-11. It has always had a soft spot in my heart, and I hope that someday in the furure PMDG revisits it and upgrades it. Looking forward to the DC-6, 47v2 and the migration to X-Plane though.

[25NOV15] PMDG 747-400 Queen of the Skies II - VC Preview!
Looking very nice guys! I mostly fly the NGX since I'm building a home cockpit, but recently got back in the T7 and am looking forward to adding this heavy to my hanger. I'll definitely be pushing the envelope in this bird at some of the ZBW fields I'm familiar with, this'll probably be my ticket to start flying in Europe to do some long haul BAW flights. PMDG never fails to impress me with their next products, and I have no doubt that you'll give the Queen the detailed simulation she deserves. Cheers, Krikor Hajian

737 NGX VOR LOC not arming
Some wesites will let you select which AIRAC to base the route off of, the current cycle is 1512 I believe. By setting the proper course setting, you will fly to the correct ruwnay and not the other end. So setting something in the range of 260 will bring you to 26R and 080 to 08R (of course, those are rough numbers and the real ones should be gotten from the approach plates). The VOR/LOC likely didn't arm because you were very far away and hadn't picked up the course from whatever the other VOR/NDB was. As far as making sure you tune the correct one, find out what the frequency is in your simulator, this is exactly why in real life there arent multiple VOR's near each other with the same name or frequency. As mentioned though, you should look on the PFD to see which autopilot modes are armed or active, the MCP isn't always the best indication. Cheers, Krikor Hajian

[28SEP15] Prepar3D v3 Approach Clearance!
Great! Looks like I will pick up P3Dv3 day one Will probably install it on my current build along with everything else I have installed (and v2) just to text some comparability with addons, then give my computer a wipe and reinstall. Can't wait!
-
NGX in P3Dv3?
Right, it's PMDG I'm wondering about, not LM
-
NGX in P3Dv3?
Good! Would like confirmation from a PMDG staff (it says v2.0-2.5 on the website) to be sure, but in that case I will likely upgrade!
-
NGX in P3Dv3?
surprised no one beat me to this. Prepar3D v3 was announced today, released in just two days. As the PMDG 737NGX is about the only addon aircraft I use, and I'm building a home cockpit around it, I was wondering if our V2-2.5 licences would be valid for v3? I am interested in upgrading, but not willing to purchase the NGX for a third time. Cheers Krikor

[19JUL15] The View from the Top.
I hope I am asking in the right place, figured this makes more sense then the DC-6 thread. When PMDG starts rolling out airliners for X-Plane (I've heard you guys are getting close with the first one, DC-6 aside), will you be able to click on the PFD/ND/EICAS as in FSX/P3D and move them around, expand them, etc? I am building a 737 home cockpit and it would be a lot easier and cheaper to just stick monitors behind the PFD/ND/EICAS openings and drag down the PMDG panels then purchase something like project magenta. I havent quite gotten to that stage yet, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, but I figured it was worht asking anyway.

[13MAY15] Intercontinental breakfast, anyone?
Similarly so excited for the 747. Ive been flying the 777 as my heavy since it came out, but it'll likely be replaced by the queen. Im picking up a GTX970 today, so hopefully I'll be able to enjoy the 47 to its fullest! Will definately be purchasing all the variants, and Im also really happy that youre doing all the weird and less-popular 747 variants (except the Domestic model, which I wouldnt use anyway). Love to see the oddball planes, and plus then there wont be as many "fictional" repaints. Keep up the good work PMDG! Youre making my all time favorite plane, and it's exciting. As far as the -8 goes, it seems to me the 777 is killing it, along with some of the design. Although it is a great bird, and arguable has the best Boeing cockpit, it's not very much bigger then the 77W, and barely bigger then the 777-9X. The economics of a twin engine jet, along with the fact that the 777 is immensely popular and very similar (at least for pilots) to the 787 (don't they have a common type rating?) makes the 777 more appealing to airlines because of commonality. There is also a definate future for the trip and none for the queen, although that might be because the 748 is selling so poorly. Additionally, the A380, the -8's main competitor, is bigger then the -8, which puts it considerably larger then the 777, at least enough that if you are going for capacity the exra bit of fuel isnt worth many less pax. It is also much larger then any Airbus models, especially those in production. Because of this the 380 is selling some planes and the -8 almost none. (side note; were it not for Emirates the 380 wouldnt be selling a lot better then Boeing. Worth noting that without that major customer there would appear to be little market anymore for te super jumbo). I still like the 747, but I feel as though a lot of little things are contributing to its "failure."

[27APR15] Ah- that pesky memory leak- and a few other small items...
Hey Rob! Great update, I was so pumped for the 747v2 around new years when you released some photos but havent seen anything since....you really do a good job keeping us on our toes! Looks fantastic, I'm so exited to be able to fly the Queen, she's a beautiful bird. I am also curious about how you're going to do pricing on the 400/-8, since I believe you mentioned before that they were going to able to sell individually? Can't wait to see more, also excited for the X-Plane DC-6. I would like to see some 747 cockpit photos, even though it's likely a little ways off I think a few more photos would raise the hype even more, knowing PMDG. Blue skies, Krikor

How to spend money best
So I recently have decided to upgrade my PC, which I literally got from the dump (built it from parts people had thrown away that still work). I don't know the full details of it, but I do know these specs -intel processor, single core I think, at 1.9GHz -6gb DDR3 RAM -win7 premiun 32bit -Nvida GeForce GT370 (I beleive thats the number) graphics card So I now have some money to upgrade my PC, but I am not sure how to spend it most effectively. I could probably get about $450 at the moment, but I can't go much about that. I was thinking an i7-4790K, but then I would also need a new motherboard so I wouldnt be able to invest in anything else. However, if spending $450 on the 4790K and a motherboard would get me the biggest upgrade, that's the way to go. So my question is how can I use my money the most effectively. I run both FSX and X-Plane, but mostly FSX with the PMDG 777, REX4, ASN, and some sceneries. I am also building a 777 overhead panel to work with FSX, if that changes anything. Cheers, MD-11Flyer

747 V2 Engines
I must say I am amazed. The 747 hasa special place in my heart after reading 747 by Joe Sutter, and the PMDG 747v2 is probably gonna be the aircraft I build my home cockpit around. The fact that it comes with so many variants out of the base pack is a HUGE plus for me, I love flying oddball airplanes and being able to use the ER, BCF etc without having to buy multiple packs is a plus. So far, I'm loving what I'm seeing, I am already putting away about $100 in the bank so I can afford the v2 when it's released. The 747 is a real world workhorse, and it seems to me that PMDG is going to take over a lot of the simming market with this bird....I have a few Airbus friends who I convinced to start flying Boeing simply because of this bird. Also, I'm excited to use the different engine types, as there are many differences in the 'pit. Even on the upper EICAS screen alone there are different instruments based on the engines. Good job PMDG! Don't rush the 747, but I for one am anxiously awaiting the release of the 747. It already looks like a winner in my books! -Krikor Hajian

Aircraft Not Working--Panels, switches, landing gear etc
I think you guys missunderstood me. I do have a support ticket with PMDG, but it hasn't resolved anything. This was their most recent response... We've tried basically everything I know of here. The last thing I can offer is to do a live support session where I actually try to figure out what's going on. I probably will do the live session, as I really want this to be figured out. The reason for me keepig this thread going was to get another pair of eyes and ideas. Cheers, Krikor Hajian

Aircraft Not Working--Panels, switches, landing gear etc
Been a little while but this hasn't been resolved so I decided to keep this going. Still no luck getting the T7 to work. I spent about an hour uninstalling all my addons to make sure they weren't interfering; REX, ASN, KIAD, KBOS, Sim Physics, and about ten payware aircraft, among a few others, and it didn't work. I've tried some of the recommended PMDG things in the support ticket I have with them, but so far it isn't working. I'm going to run through them again now. Also, I have tried some things that friends recommended, such as deleting the FSX.cfg and the shaders folder(s), Now when I load FSX I also get an error message about the PMDG sound something? When I click yes to run it I get a fatal error. Thoughts? Cheers, Krikor Hajian

Aircraft Not Working--Panels, switches, landing gear etc
@downscc I have the repair function on both the 777 and FSX already, it isnt working. About the name, my bad, I'm not on AVSIM a ton and I forgot about that. I'm removing all my addons and testing FSX. After that I'll decide how to proceed I'l post here what happens. Cheers, Krikor Hajian

Aircraft Not Working--Panels, switches, landing gear etc
Before I delve into my problems, I own a 100% legitimate copy of the PMDG 777-200LR/F and -300ER. This is not a cracked version. Yesterday I ran a clean install of FSX on my desktop, in preparation of starting my 777 home cockpit. However, when I loaded up the 777, all the panels were dark, the Addon Manager wasn't on the upper bar, there was no landing gear, and I couldn't click/move any of the buttons. It looks a lot like photos of cracked addons that I've seen. Some of the other FSX aircraft are messed up, I tried loading the default 737-800, but the EICAS listed the N1 at 2.3%, despite the engines running seemingly at full power in external view. I've tried repairing FSX, and the T7, but it's not working. Below are the are abnormalities I can think of. -when I loaded the 777-200LR, it didnt ask me for a activation code. I assumed this was because I had activated it on my computer before. Then, when loading the -300ER, a first on my desktop, it asked for a code, and I put in my -200LR/F code by mistake, but it accepted it. -I didnt remove the T7 before uninstalling FSX (before the re-install). I'm now feeling like this could be part of the problem. -Finally, the main reason I decided to re-install FSX now was that I couldnt toggle switches in the 777 I'm running Windows 7 Premium on a desktop I built, it has a NVIDA GeForce graphics card, an intel processor, 500 GB of memory and 4 GB of RAM. I'm planning on upgrading to 6-8 GB of RAM within the next week. Could that be part of the issue? I'm out right now, typing this on my laptop. When I get home tonight I will be able to give more detailed computer specs, as well as upload my FSX.cfg file. Any ideas? If I cant think of anything by the time I get home and try some stuff, I'm going to run another clean install. Thanks for the help, and happy holidays!

XPlane Development Status Thread [Updated 12SEP14]
I removed X-Plane because of the lack of good addons. I am starting a 777 home cockpit soon, and was planning on using the PMDG FSX B777. If XP comes out before hand, woohoo! I like XP more anyways. Glad to see youre making the move. Still wish we knew what the first project was though. -Krikor Hajian

MD-11 Home Cockpit
yes, it is ambitious, but I want to replicate the Tri-Jet in my bedroom. It won't be that hard to make the framework, that can be done with plywood, and similarly the MIP and Pedastal panels can be done as such (overhead will be a later project). What I am interested in is people's thoughts on annunciators and electronics. Are there any pre-made or kit MD-11 home cockpit parts? How should I do the autoflight panel? I have a slight idea, but I need to do some research before I post that here. Any thoughts? Has anyone tried an MD-11 home cockpit before? Blue skies, MD-11Flyer

FSX Fatal Error Every Time I Start it
I tried to delete the entire FSX directory, which is why it's messed up now. Should I try t repair it using the installer or find a fix for the current issue?
-

FSX Fatal Error Every Time I Start it
Tried deleting FSX.....but now when I try to open the installer I get Error 1607: Unable to install InstallShield scripting routine. Found a Windows page on it, no dice. Any ideas?

FSX Fatal Error Every Time I Start it
Correct. I'm trying to run a complete re-install, but I messed up when I was uninstalling/deleting everything and now I'm trying to sort that out.

FSX Fatal Error Every Time I Start it
Today I purchased the PMDG MD-11, and installed a lot of liveries. However, every time I start FSX, I get a Fatal Error message as the main menu loads. Now I can't run any FSX. The only thing I changed was the MD. I tried restatying the computer and added the UIAnimationCore or whatever dll was supposed to help crashes, no luck. I am going to try and re-do the install, if that doesnt work, then I'm at a loss. Running windows 8, by the way. PLEASE HELP! Now FSX has a fatal error every time I start it, even though I removed the MD-11. Any ideas? This is my error message in the events management thing.....not that techy so sorry for my inprecise language when it ocmes to computers. Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14 Faulting module name: visualfx.dll, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb59 Exception code: 0xc0000005

Needing New Computer
MD11Flyer replied to MD11Flyer's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHoly that is a really expensive piece of hardware. The cheapest one I can find is almost half my budget?! I realize the processor is important, but would $300 be enough to make the rest of the computer? Also I am running reletively low settings, I get about 10-15 fps with the PMDG 737NGX, REX4 and default scenery on my HP Pavillion G6 Laptop. I only need the capacity to do scenery, and more framerate with increased reliability and the room to improve in the future. Also if anyone knows how to upload photos to this thread that would be great.
