Gaming PC losing its appeal.
I'm currently flying MSFS 2020 with the ASUS Z13 (2025), a tablet PC which has an iGPU. It compares to the 2060Super in performance. Now I hear you say "but a 2060 is years ago" and you would be correct. But this is an integrated graphics chip on the CPU, inside a tablet..... I have it at 30fps locked (can go higher but the re is no need to) and get the same fps at add-on airports such as East Midlands or Southampton. Combine this with an Xbox controller and you have a great setup for the dinner table or when not at home.

Active Sky Cloud Art for FSX & P3D - Released!
Well, let me put it this way.. I loved ASN from the day it was released and after a few flights I was entering the info of my creditcard for AS16. Perhaps I got used to a certain level of quality from Hifi... But ASCA doesn't live up to my expectation how it looks at this moment.

Here is my problem with ASCA.... Duplicated clouds....

Active Sky Cloud Art for FSX & P3D - Released!
Did a flight from EGSS to LEPA in stunning weather over Europe with the current METAR using AS16 and ASCA. I love the haze that this hot weather generates... **black screens in VC are not an error, I ported them to other displays**

P3D 3.3.5 won't display after load
Had this problem before but can't remember the fix.. When I start P3D I see the splash screen. Then I see something loading and then the splash screen goes away and I can't open P3D. The program is still running according to task manager but I can't ope or activate it. Tried a fresh DLL.xml and config but that won't help. ***EDIT*** My god... How can I forget to update FSUIPC after installing a sim update....

New Computer: Intel 6700K @ 4.6ghz + Nvidia 1080GTX VS X-Plane 10
P3D is still a 32bit software so you will be fine with the G3258 duo core, and oc it to 4.5Ghz. That would be about a $200 investment for both CPU and new water or air cooling. Run Windows on core 0 and P3D on core 1.... done.

Help with upgrading my PC
Maarten Otto replied to redskins47chaos's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcEveryone is calling for expansive i5 or i7 CPU's while in fact FSX only uses one single core.... So, get the latest Intel Core DUO G3258. This is an inexpensive chip (less then $75) and with proper after market cooling you might get it up to 4.5Ghz. If you invest more in cooling then 5Ghz is perhaps possible. People have done it with that chip and in the VA I fly for some guys gave it a try and they love this CPU for simming. For video, get a GTX 970 or 980 as prices will drop significantly over the coming months.

Aerofly 2 really bad, refunded.
Steam clearly states that for titles bought in pre-release one could at any given moment ask for a full refund for as long as the title is not officially released. I see no problems in that....

Aerofly 2 really bad, refunded.
Currently flying the 737-500 from the Bay to Palm Springs and so far I like it a lot. Start the sim Plot the route Get in the air I asked my wife to marry me when we had a private 182 and flew at dusk in the Las Vegas area... would be nice to get her behind the yoke this time....

I live in Europe and will certainly NOT mind if they omit the entire globe and focus on the SoCal and NoCal area plus Hawaii. Add a good (in depth) system for navigation and a good Autopilot and you have a satisfying simulator. Ideally you would be able to update Airac cycles from Navigraph. The point in keeping the sim in this restricted area is that development of a good ATC system will be much easier. After that, make AI aircraft that move around and fill the sky. Then focus on Multiplayer environments like IVAO, PilotEdge and VatSim.

Can't find a manual
Just purchased this aircraft from JustFlight to have something "smaller" n the hanger next to the Dash 8. Only I can't find a manual. It would be nice to have one and I can't imagine such a product is delivered without one. Any help as to where it usually is installed or available would be welcomed. Maarten Otto

737 to jump all over the place on load
I'll edit the youtube post and if this works I'll make a new video for future reference and for other people who might run into this issue. Maarten Otto EDIT: Tried and tested. This solution is CCONFIRMED to be working.

737 to jump all over the place on load
Indeed it is installed, not used for the NGX as it is P3Dv3 native. I'll see what happens when I un-install it.

737 to jump all over the place on load
Hi all, I have this rather odd behavior when I load the NGX for p3d in the sim (p3d v3) Please see the short video where I show you the problem. https://youtu.be/vLgD_bZjqNY Things I already tried: - installed all versions of simconnect - re-install - removing FSUIPC settings for controls - deleted VAInterfacee didn't work.

FSX-SE newbie - advice on scenery enhancements?
The FTX Global, Landclass (europe), Vector and regions are a complete overhaul of your sim. Expansive but well worth it if you ask me. HDTrees add a lot more realism and allows you to turn the slider for vegetation a bit more to the right. As for weather, Active Sky next is must have. Your FSX license will also be acccepted by the P3D version i you ever decide to jump ship. A free enhancement to FSX is SweetFX.

P3D with i5 4690k + GTX 960
I jumped ship today and bought the Asus STRIX GTX970 and Prepar3D. Without installing any other add-on except for the Q400 I was amazed of the eye candy and smoothness.

The perfect HDR ...
I think I made up my mind and go for the Asus Strix GTX 970. It seems to perform very well and when not under load it uses passive cooling. I might try to squeeze another 200 Mhz out of my CPU so it has a nice 1Ghz OC. Although my CPU already has a stable 23% faster clock then designed.
