  1. You should be careful here... GPU usage is not the entire story, as many cards simply throttle when they're not being pushed hard and will show near 100% at a reduced clock speed until they're then pushed harder and then ramp up their clock speeds and the overall usage may then drop. Use GPU-Z and keep a careful eye on your speeds and overall usage.
  2. I've never bought one of your products as yet, but i've looked from time to time, but now i think it's time to give it a shot. I mean, demo? For that money i think i can't really go wrong... The screenshots look really nice with great detailing.
  3. I've recently got the odd blurry, but it's strange as it's always the same tile/patch in the same place! No idea why this is, and around the same area some of the surrounding textures are almost full res but pretty much always pop into perfect res at the same point every time i fly over it. Everything else surrounding looks fine, so, it's a bit odd....
  4. Get GPU-Z and check your GPU usage when flying in these scenarios as you'll be able to see if you're pushing your card to 100% or near. This way you'll be able to see if it's your GPU or maybe something else.
  5. Strange, since installing Vector my yoke will not control the sim unless the main P3D window is the focus window. If i select any other window outside i have no control anymore from the yoke, whereas previously i had full control. The hats on the yoke still work though!
  6. Just a heads up that the "Lucy Borchard" container ship sailing outside Vancouver main bay area is simply going around in circles doing 'donuts' in the water and going nowhere.. someone might wanna give her a good push?! ...!
  7. Turbo Boost and Turbo Boost Max are two completely different things, with Turbo Boost Max being a new feature of the new chip architecture being used in the i9 processors.
  8. Just download Rob's flight and settings and the whole flight will replay. You must have FRAPS installed to record the results... I'll report in with my results later or tomorrow, as i think this will be interesting.
  9. This is very true, though inevitably the sound system being used to playback the recording in a home scenario is sub-standard compared to the original high-end equipment used in the studio, and the room has crap dynamics etc, so in this case an equaliser can go some way to alleviating too much bass, not enough top end etc. And i guess P3D is no different in that there is a huge difference in systems being used and all can probably be tweaked in some way to make the a little better. The thing to remember is that there is no magic bullet. You don't get silly FPS increases and you don't get to push your sliders up any more than you could before, but you may end up with a smoother overall experience.
  10. Well, he's posted the settings and the scenario, so let's give him some more results to compare to, to see if it really is this good! I'll run the same scenario with my lowly 3930K/1080ti setup and post back my results. I mean, it would be amazing if it really was giving this kind of performance and i'd def be looking at one if it's anywhere near this good! Thanks for posting as ever Rob..
  11. This is quite a problem lol.... needing a connection each and every time causes many headaches.. couldn't we just check every now and then as opposed to each and every time maybe?! ..
  12. Hi, it doesn't strictly matter what order you install, as they both do different things, with Envtex handling the textures and PTA handling the shaders modifications. The path to PTA within Envtex simply allows it to then install a folder into your PTA root folder with the PTAbsolute presets for you to use in PTA. If you didn't own PTA, i believe Envtex would attempt to install it's shader mods directly in the sim itself should you want it to. So in your case, point Envtex to your PTA folder, and then use PTA to install it's presets if you wish, or use your own etc. If you do you use the PTAbsolute presets, make sure you choose the relevant version! In regards to integrating with ASCA, again, point Envtex to the ASCA root folder and it will do the rest, assuming you choose to install its sky textures. With the Envtext/ASCA drop down menu options, choose Envtex only and this will force ASCA to only use the Envtex sky textures which are way better than ASCA's own. Put ASCA into Full Dynamics mode and enjoy. They really are pretty cool!
  13. Thanks Andrew, found it in the end... well... whilst i wallow in my shame, is there any cool sites to get other nice custom liveries for the 747 i should be checking out? thanks!
  14. So just bought the PMDG 747.. expensive but i've read plenty and i'm excited to now grab it... so, go it.. now i want some liveries, but.. nothing on their site? Plenty for XP-DC 6A, DC-6B, FSX-BAe JS4100, but nothing else? Do a search online and i'm just finding lists but no links...! Help!!! What gives?!! ...... Ok ok ok ok ok... just delved deeper and found what i'm looking for... a glass of wine or two and then thrown off by their site saying 737 and 777 customers download in the operations centre made me think i had to go elsewhere, when i actually get the same privileges! ...
  15. Interesting... i may do some tests as i've found this to start happening with my setup, and i couldn't remember if it was doing this or not before PTA.. i also have very annoying cloud shadows popping in and out of the periphery of my view when panning, using ezDok along with the sudden changes in colour/tone. Everything in sunshine one second and then everything in shadow/grey another..
  16. Compared to actually setting my monitor to a custom refresh of 30hz, setting frames using an external limiter didn't seem to yield anywhere near the same results, so i'd say try a custom refresh rate in Nvidia control panel instead of an external frame limiter. And as others have said, everything else you need is handled very well internally by P3D v4 now, so don't bother with tweaking.
  17. The reason i stayed with HT off on my 3930K was overall smoothness along with a 30hz refresh rate on my monitor. I did tests using FRAPS and the average graphs and long frames told the whole story. With HT on the graphs were way more random and spikey whereas with HT off the graph was smoother and consistent and this was noticeable in the sim itself. This was using the same overclock of 4.4ghz.
  18. Ah, thanks Ed, and i apologise that i completely missed that very important point...
  19. I'm another that tried the affinity mask thing, but went back in the end due to no real gains.. the best setting for my 3930K hex-core is no affinity mask and hyper-threading off. HT off has made my sim super smooth and i believe Rob Ainscough runs his 5960x 8-core in exactly the same way.
  20. Wow, a $5 covering charge to do their work and update due to another company releasing a major update to 64bit code... that sounds ultra-reasonable to me and very fair.. though i can only assume that they changed their minds due to a backlash from those with some kind of a major entitlement problem.
  21. Def report back as soon as you can. I'm desperate to hear how this chip runs P3D. I'm sure with those extra cores it'll fly. My 3930K is still rocking at 4.4ghz and i've found running with HT off yields the smoothest results as does Rob Ainscough with his 5960x, so def try HT off too if you get a chance. Cheers!
  22. Haha, yes, well... i think you understand where we all are with regards to Rex Sky Force... i must admit i'm quite amazed that you've played this one so close to your chest that many have simply lost interest and invested into other software solutions for weather. Even a few screenshots here and there over the last few months would have done wonders for your company, but you've been so silent that we're wondering if it even still exists, despite the odd post by yourselves saying that it does! Tempting us in the run up would have been much more effective methinks, rather than staying tight lipped...
  23. Sure dude, i understand... but the sky textures influence so much.. so.. if you don't wanna drop the cash for Envtex at the moment, try some of the sky textures here... http://1coder.ru/SKY/downloads.html This dude makes amazing sky textures and kindly offers them up free to the community and they are truly some of the best. Try some out and see how much better they are compared to ASCA's sky textures. You'll want to turn of ASCA's sky texture injection if using these.
  24. Agreed, yet another one for the ASP4/ASCA/Envtex (sky textures) and PTA. A most amazingly beautiful combo. I'm also using the PTAabsolute preset supplied by the Envtex dudes and it creates a really nice realistic overall tone in all conditions. Very cool... very recommended...
  25. Is it this a specific ship that you're trying to track down and look at or simply check if the ships are showing up in general? If it's the latter, could you not remove the standard ship traffic BGL file and just leave the Henrik BGLs in place?
