  1. It is already in open beta and works very very well indeed, as well as having many new features and a much more streamlined and user friendly interface. Go check the ezDok forum to grab the update. And check out the new observer cams... they're pretty epic...
  2. Indeed, as Oz says... this sim allows you to max things beyond current hardware capabilities.. no machine out there is really ever going to run fully maxed out.. and even more modest setting are beyond what v3.4 offered, so.. dial back... take some time to find the limits for your hardware and then just enjoy...
  3. This has been explained time and time again that the first core handles most of the rendering/FPS tasks. If this is tipping over the edge you're pushing your settings too much, mainly autogen, autogen draw distance etc... this is the main culprit for stutters and FPS loss. And this is most apparent in hugely dense populated areas such as cities where the autogen numbers can be insane and extend for miles and miles. Throw in some AI traffic and when you pan around to an airport, things can get messy. I tend to set my settings for a nice in-between, as i don't really like switching profiles much. So i go somewhere like Vancouver where there is a nice amount of autogen, but not stupid crazy, and there is water, and a nice mountain range too. I also have a payware airport there. I get the sim working smooth here and it's then pretty good for the majority of places i visit. I believe the rest of the cores mainly handle a lot of the texturing side of things and if these are bouncing up to 100% load then you're texture/scenery based settings are a little too high. You can push these of course, but you don't want them constantly up there and having trouble. You won't really get stutters from these hitting 100% but your scenery may start to suffer or blur. My hex core is busy across all cores for these tasks. As others have said before, running at 30hz definitely gives the smoothest results if you setup your settings accordingly to allow your machine to run at 30fps for the majority of the time and i don't believe an external FPS limiter works in quite the same way for P3D. So idelly, set a custom resolution and refresh rate in Nvidia control panel and see if your monitor can handle it. If it can, set vsync on, unlimited in sim and see how you go.
  4. I had been using an older preset from Mamedov Gennadiy. I'm unsure of what version it was created in, but it contained equations in certain sections that changed at altitude etc. PTA 2.5 loaded the preset up and would apply it too, but it messed up the sim and displayed wrongly.. so i replaced these values with standard ones and all was fine.
  5. No, you should be ok with the old presets assuming they don't use any equations in the settings.. you can easily check this by going through each one and seeing of they simply have a decimal setting, or something more 'exotic' in which case you can reset that value to default or something of you own choosing..

  7. Hmmmm, i don't really get it. Doesn't it default to 'application controlled' anyways? So in your first test, you simply had the Nvidia control panel set to default and you got 24-26fps with 8xMSAA, and then you set the Nvidia control panel to 'app controlled' and then got 38-40fs?! I think i'm missing something here....!
  8. Could you explain exactly what you mean by 'app choice' on Nvidia and how you set up the 8xMSAA to get the FPS increase please? Thanks!
  9. Well there certainly seems to be quite a lot of alleged V4 'compatible' scenery being sold when in reality it's ridden with bugs and problems.. i'm now bypassing whatever the scenery devs are saying about their product and going straight to the forums to get the real word on what's working and what's not...
  10. Sure, but it's not even like they use their own.. they just pick a random one out of the hat for every airport they create it seems... weird if you ask me... i understand new tech/code comes into play and so the next greatest airport comes along and it's using new lighting etc, but i do wonder why they don't then update their older airports to bring them up to spec. We have FS9 creations that haven't been touched for years that have simply been hacked to make them work in newer versions of the sim. And that's poor tbh.. take them off your website if you're not going to support them in any way.
  11. I'm seeing floating lights all over the place lol... and to be honest, it ain't good enough, especially at payware airports... and what's all this with differing sized lights, glow etc from the same payware vendors between one airport and another?! Sloppy sloppy sloppy... and it's a shame, because overall there is some great third party scenery available, but wow... i don't understand why there is absolutely no consistency. And on another similar note, websites... wow again... they generally suck, are out of date, pic previews have links that don't work.. very poor across the board. It's like going back 10 years... usability is key for a website to bring in, tempt and make someone buy your wares, yet the flight sim world seems like it's stuck in the dark ages and it's mostly a pain at best to make a decision based on what you're presented with.. crazy.
  12. Hmmm, mine is asking for activation each and every time i load it up. Unable to break the cycle with the above suggestions... any ideas?
  13. Can anyone that has this scenery, or indeed ORBX check the spring textures. Mine seem to be very bland/brown at spring for some reason. Almost weird looking... Summer seems fine.. thanks. Ok, looks like i'm getting snow textures in Spring at Minneapolis? Weird, i'm sure that isn't right... if anyone else can check this? Other regions seem fine.. thanks
  14. Honestly, i'm still flying around gawping at how good this sim now looks once you've tweaked settings to max out the limits of your hardware. It really is something else now... go for it. You really will not be disappointed, and this is only the start...
  15. Thanks dude... yeah, it turns out it was certain cloud conditions really causing my GPU to bog down with ultra shadows. I turned down the quality slider and got an instant drop in GPU usage. I've now put it back up and generally the 1080ti is chewing up most GPU related stuff with aplomb.... still going 'wow' at my screen at what i see right now.. amazingly beautiful scenes rolling before my eyes... :) Props to you for your FreeMesh efforts too dude. I still smile at the thought that people out there put time into creating things for others to enjoy for free.. you're a dude... :)
  16. Yes, using V4... ok, anyways, an update. Seems very heavy AS16 cloud coverage with overcast hammers the GPU in terms of shadows.. turned the quality down from ultra to high (still ultra distance) and now all is good in these conditions. Before it was bouncing off 99% GPU far too much for my liking...
  17. Is V4 still bloody well anti-aliasing the clouds too? AS16 injecting overcast conditions with thick cloud cover is hammering my 1080ti when running 4xSSAA...
  18. I doubt it... as far as i know, the 'developers' is just one person and i think real life is more important to them than pursuing updating this program now... it's long out of date as it is... last update in 2012 thereabouts? I think there is a couple of new programs being developed by others though that you might wanna keep your eye out for..
  19. Gah, i thought i'd maybe seen the back of this, but it still persists.... running a 3930K with a 1080 ti card and everything runs smooth on a 30hz monitor, yet when i'm panning my view in the VC the cloud shadows pop in and out like crazy sometimes... so annoying! Anyone else getting this and anyone know of a tweak to make my hardware try and deal with it better? cheers!
  20. Tweaking the config file really should not be needed. If you're getting blurries or bad performance on a half decent system and you've tried dialling your settings down a little to help alleviate the problem, then something else is wrong...
  21. I think you'd be mad now to not go for a large TV if size/immersion is what you're after.. running 3 monitors with maxed out settings in P3D v4 will crush your system, whereas a larger single monitor/TV setup will ease the pain for your CPU/GPU and realise a much much nicer overall experience.. Look for something that'll handle 30hz too if you can.
  22. Sounds a bit odd... contact Paypal and FSDT and see what they say i guess? What part of the landing lights do not work? I just checked KMEM at night and the landing approach lights seemed to be working fine?
  23. +1 for the Twin Otter. Cool little aircraft, some nice variations in the builds that you get and there are great liveries for it too. But then, i'm just a sucker for a twin turbo prop, so...
  24. Yeah, i see no installer for FSGlobal 2010, yet i can simply add the entries into P3D and away i go. It'd take nothing to sort this out their end, yet they try and make you buy yet *another* version... not great at all tbh.. i manually installed and will not be bothering with them for now..
  25. Just a heads up that FSDreamTeam have a sale on at the moment. KCLT is pretty damn amazing and there's plenty more cool airports on offer there too. You get a discount for bulk buys plus the 50% off if you also purchase KCLT at full price. Details on their site...
