  1. I always keep boxes. Years later, I may want to sell expensive equipment, and people are very impressed to buy things in their original boxes, with all documentation and packaging intact.
  2. My old cat, Jack, now gone but never forgotten, could be picked up while asleep from wherever he was laying, and was perfectly content to be transported and deposited anywhere his humans wanted him, where he would happily stay asleep until eventually wandering off to do cat things. I called him Ragdoll Kitty.

  4. So....... I'm not exactly sure why the textures are such a huge (apparently) issue. Is there something stopping the usual people at places like Flightsim.to and elsewhere from fairly promptly releasing 4K textures for PC users?

  7. Interestingly enough, Apple maps just released info that strongly suggests they'll be switching to Gaussian Splatting for their global 3d modeling. I find it unlikely that their competitors will not fairly quickly follow suit..... It seems to be an uninspiring subject here, but I suspect it will eventually be just about all we are talking about, for realistic city generation. https://www.techradar.com/computing/software/apple-maps-has-a-huge-ios-27-upgrade-on-the-way-for-flyover-that-will-help-you-see-cities-around-the-world-like-never-before-and-users-think-its-down-to-gaussian-splatting-the-next-big-3d-photography-craze
  8. Just touching on the topic again, as some seemed a bit skeptical...... I suspect this is going to be a big deal, possibly sooner, rather than later.
  9. I had problems reading when very young.... Right up until my screaming grandfather did an altered States/Incredible-Hulk mixture and banged his way up the hallway threatening to rip me to pieces if I wasn't reading faster before he reached me.... After that, I became a speed reader, which was a problem, as I found I now finished most books in an hour or so, and it wasn't worth all of my weekly allowance money for that short of a distraction. So.... I began actively looking for the thickest books I could find, so I could spend a little more time with them; while my classmates regularly had me read aloud to them to demonstrate how fast I could go. I actually got in trouble in school, because when the teacher asked me to read in turn after others in class, I was often completely lost, and it was years before they realized that what was actually happening was that I had gotten bored and skipped far ahead and had no idea where the class was. Ancient (and mostly forgotten) history. Then I bumped into this, and tried it as a random lark. Interestingly (to me) I easily got to the end at supposedly 900 WPM, but not without experiencing a strange feeling of mild breathlessness... I wonder where that places me in the average nowadays, amongst my fellow adults.
  10. Thought this was...... Interesting. FSHud_Admin — 6/2/2026 3:39 PMTuesday, June 2, 2026 3:39 PM Navigraph / Flightradar24 Traffic Integration Update After reviewing the new Navigraph / Flightradar24 real-world traffic integration, we have decided not to integrate Navigraph / Flightradar24 traffic into FSHud - Air Traffic Control. Navigraph / Flightradar24 provides real-world live traffic based on aircraft that are currently active and transmitting tracking data. If an aircraft is powered off or not transmitting, it is not included in this live traffic data. This type of live traffic already exists in Microsoft Flight Simulator through the built-in MSFS Live Traffic option. FSHud - Air Traffic Control can already use this type of traffic through the existing MSFS-Controlled Traffic interception. To configure MSFS Live Traffic interception, follow the guide below: https://www.fshud.com/site/knowledge/traffic-settings-v2 As live-traffic sources, both MSFS Live Traffic and Navigraph / Flightradar24 traffic are limited to aircraft that are currently active in the real world. They do not provide schedule-based airport activity, such as parked aircraft, planned departures, or continuity from arrival to the next scheduled departure. FSHud - Traffic works differently. It provides a more complete traffic solution using both live flights and scheduled flight data. This includes airborne traffic from live and scheduled flights, scheduled airport departures and arrivals, as well as parked aircraft with departure times and destinations based on airport schedules. Hourly traffic snapshots are also stored, allowing live and scheduled flights to be provided for the selected Simulator Time. Happy flights!
