August 3, 200916 yr Everything's faster. :(EDIT - my favorite thing in REX2.0 so far is the scrawl that says 'REX is gradually loading weather'. It makes me chuckle.
August 3, 200916 yr Wow, get out of bed the wrong side this morning? Cheer up!I was just excited. Thanks to the REX team for the update. MSFS

August 4, 200916 yr Well, I guess I dont need ASA anymore....I know. I've been trying to get ASA to work, using everything from the forums and help info. I am loyal to Damian, he has done so much in the past. I still hope that he makes a comeback. REX 2.0 at first glance today works very well and integrates well with FSUIPC.
August 4, 200916 yr What I'd really like to hear is people's experiences on the weather engine and new features. With ASA and other AS products the weather already looks as "nice" as it needs to in terms of textures .. hey, it's a computer game after all. The looks can't get that much better without changing the underlying weather engine FSX has.But what about the NEW features AS does not have like WASys and the new "weather engine"? If you see a line of storms depicted on the WASys screen, do you see anything like that out of the windscreen? If WASys shows hail and turbulence, do you actually get it if you fly into that area? Do all users flying in that area see the same weather data on their WASys, basically, does REX have their own weather data and servers? What about the weather-influences textures, especially ground (runway) texturing? How does it work in general? How CAN it work with addon airports? Is the REX engine able to inject textures into FSX in real time, without having to restart? Are PIREP's user created and spread across the network or automatically created with the REX inteface, based on weather? And another one I know only the developers can answer, what are the forthcoming "special effects + sound" mentioned in the config screenshots?

August 4, 200916 yr 1)What kind of frame rate performance does this have?2) How does it work with 3d lights redux?RonSo far I'm seeing a boost in Frame rates with the LDS 767. For example With ASA at LAX I was getting about 10-11FPS in VC with REX2.0 I now get about 15-18FPS at 1024 resulution and about 13-14 at 4096. That is with 100% WOAI traffic. System is an E6850 2GB with a 9800GTX card. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
August 4, 200916 yr My quick test: I ran the same short flight (KGAI to KFDK) in the Lionheart Wittman Tailwind four times:-- With REX 2.0 weather and REX 4096 clouds.-- With ASA weather and REX 4096 clouds.-- With ASA weather and REX 1024 clouds.-- With ASA weather and FEX 1024 clouds (keeping all other REX textures).I had the best experience with the final option. ASA weather seemed more accurate for current local conditions. And the ASA direct wind smoothing and direct visibility smoothing options kept the weather from sudden, instant transitions, which happened in REX when I got to the KFDK area.I had a bit of a frame rate hit with the REX 4096 clouds - about 15-20 FPS enroute (using FPS Limiter) vs. 30 FPS with the 1024 clouds. Performance was the same with both sets of 1024 clouds - no difference between REX and FEX. But I prefer the look of the FEX 1024 cloud sets - slightly more natural, to my eye at least. So I've gone in a big circle and wound up back where I started - ASA as the weather engine, FEX for clouds, and REX for all other textures. There may be performance-tuning options in REX that I haven't discovered yet. And I haven't yet figured out how to get the REX weather avoidance system (nice feature) to show in FSX. Also, REX continues to feed me pireps in spite of the fact that ASA is providing the weather, for reasons I don't completely understand. So I have more homework to do. This is just a first impression - and the solution is based on my own preferences (for example, re: performance and the look of the clouds). But I wanted to share it for whatever it's worth. YMMV.Alan Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

On the ground its nearly the same 7-9 FPS, but in the air I jumped from 22-24 to 28 - 30. Not huge, but I'll take it.It is a bit odd to see haze flash to clear when the weather loads again. Wish smoothing was better, but overall I'm liking it!System is a Q9550 @ 3.6Ghz, 8GB, 260 Core 216 on Vista 64. Frames are low because its running through a TH2G @ 5040 x 1050 on 3 23" monitors.
