October 7, 200916 yr I only fly Fs2004 and I do have Eaglesoft Citation X v1. Why would I want to switch to the V2 even if it was free and it's NOT ? jerry wo4
October 7, 200916 yr Perhaps because you might want the new features offered by version 2 and recognize that the effort that has gone into iteasily justifies it not being given away?
October 7, 200916 yr I owned the Citation X v1 and enjoyed it immensely. I also purchased the v2 Citation X, and it is superior in every way to v1. You should read the feature list:http://www.eaglesoftdg.com/CitationX_20.htmIf you are not convinced, then stick with v1, as it is unlikely that the realism and depth of v2 will appeal to you. October 8, 200916 yr I only fly Fs2004 and I do have Eaglesoft Citation X v1. Why would I want to switch to the V2 even if it was free and it's NOT ? jerry wo4It's like night and day comparing the two. Looking at the birds on face value would lend one to the question of 'why' when one already has the first version but I guarantee you if you bought version two after owning version one you'd be lost in every operation. That's reason enough to get it. In real life you can't just jump into the Citation X without learning about it first. With version 1 in FS you could but now you can't, you have a realistic representation at your finger tips. If you put it down for awhile like I have and come back to it you'll need a refresher and that's faithful to the real bird. Not all real world aircraft are complex and some simmers would rather have a jump in and fly bird. For the simmers that don't mind learning a few things here and there this one is a treat. Birds that do require a little knowledge here it's great to see that level of detail in add-ons like this. In the real world you can't just jump around from aircraft to aircraft without getting acclimated and then re-acclimated first. Having to learn the Citation X on a similar level that's required to learn the real one is educational, rewarding, and worth the effort all rolled into one. That's the reason one should get V2 if they already have V1 but like I said only if that's your style. Some don't have the time. I guess you could say I was like you in a since when looking at the screenshots and seeing both V1 and V2 look so much alike. You'd be amazed at what you don't know about this aircraft and what some of those unassuming switches actually do. A completed Citation X is a marvel to operate and this is just one of those you have see it/use it to believe it. October 8, 200916 yr I would be interested in Citation X v2's VC frame rate and gauge update rates. Are they smooth in the VC? Thanks.Bob Bob Prince

October 9, 200916 yr Both are very smooth for me and my system is comparable to yours except for the OS.Thank you. I'm waiting to see what additional (if any) features are in the FSX version. I can't afford both. :)Bob.. Bob Prince
October 9, 200916 yr Thank you. I'm waiting to see what additional (if any) features are in the FSX version. I can't afford both. :)Bob..Bob, the actual avionics feature set is identical for the FS9 and FSX Versions. The primary differences are that the FSX/SP2 model is true FSX/SP2 which supports .DDS Textures, Low Draw Calls, and DX10 Preview for increased "in sim" performance. As many know, an FS9 "portover" doesn't meet FSX/SP2 Users expectations these days. :(

I'm elated the FSX version will support .DDS Textures and Low Draw Calls! It only could be better if I knew what the latter terms mean. LOL. :)Bob.. Bob Prince

It only could be better if I knew what the latter terms mean. LOL. :)Bob..Bob, Low Draw Calls refers to certain modeling and texture/materials mapping techniques which reduce the number of draw calls per cycle which decrease the system load and results in increased "in sim" performance. While sometimes dramatic it usually results in incremental efficiency gains. :(
October 10, 200916 yr Author Thanks to all who took the time to reply. My "plate" is full right now with installing new scenery, Scenery Enhancement programs and flying the DH-2 Beaver around Canada and Alaska. I think I'll hold off on this until next year when I update my computer and give FSX a try. jerrycwo4

Asking a question like that would have only resulted in one of two answers. One, that the price is justified by all sorts of new stuff that make it an entirely new addon to learn. Or two, that there's not much new there and the price is not justified. If you already knew that you were busy doing other things to be learning a new plane, then why even consider the possibility that there is something new here worth paying for? Which leaves the only other conclusion in that this was supposed to have been a bash thread? If all the replies here don't make this product a screaming buy, since that was the original question, whether or not you should switch to it, I don't know what would.
October 10, 200916 yr Jeez, Kevin, give the guy a break. He posted a question, got an answer, and made a decision.Nobody cares if it's the same decision you would have made. And the only bashing in this thread appears to be coming from you. Can't we all just get along? :( regards,Joe :( The best gift you can give your children is your time.
