REX for FS2004 - GUI Screenshots

Featured Replies

I just ran across this post showing the GUI for the upcoming FS2004 version of REX:http://realenvironmentxtreme.com/for...p?topic=5947.0No mention that I could see of a release date or the price but it looks like things are progressing well.

Drum roll......Cymbal crash......Pringles and Party Poppers at the ready...Champagne on ice...All together now in unison, 'One' 'Two' 'Three'......WHEN ??? (sorry for shouting) Seriously, looks like its happening and I am sure Tim and Co are making it happen as quickly as they can (and I admire their commitment to produce this for FS9) . I have gone out my way to be a good boy this year thinking that something 'Rex Like' might appear in Santa's sack. I am not hopeful and might have to settle for T-'Rex' or a Tyrannasuarus 'Rex'. But you never now. Thanks for the heads-up David and keep up the excellent work Tim.

Looks interesting
Yes, I agree. Looks really good!I do use ActiveSky and the not-so-long-ago released freeware HD sky textures and I' really happy with them. But looks like REX is going to be a top quality product with a very nice interface (I love the idea shown in the GUI screenshots). I will consider buying it when it's out. My way to support quality products for FS9 (talk about the neverending dicussion on FS9 addons market).Great job, Tim! You're a real artist, I guess.

This does look very good and I have heard good things regardnig the FSX version.Only issue I may have with it is the built-in weather engine. I use AS6 and am very happy with it. There may be a way to disable the REX weather but then you feel like your not getting your moneys worth if you dont use the entire product. I was hoping REX would just be textures like a combined Flight Environment and Airport Environment.

Hi Gang.Well, this does indeed look very promising, and they / he certainly seems to have piled in a lot of hard work on this project.I was however wondering about something. There is the option of altering / selecting the taxiways, runways, airport lighting etc which is a great utility, but, What about the people that use Add-On airports. For example. in the UK a lot of us as well as all over the world use sceneries such as Gary Summonses UK2000 sceneriesand the Extreme airports range, of which there are now seven or eight. But he uses his own type of development and the airport lighting and textures cannot be changed or altered in any way.So, does this mean that the only places you would really see these specific effects / textures are in the MS default airports? Which to be honest, who flies in to those? there bland and boring at best.Just a question.Thanks.

Steve.

Windows XP Professional SP3, ABIT IC7 MAX3 MotherBoard, Intel P4 3.40GHz HT, 4Gigs RAM, Hercules Digifire Sound Card, Geforce 7800GS 512RAM Graphics Card, FS9.1, REX, ASv6.5, GE pro.FE.

I had the same worries about addon airports (as I use a lot in FS9), so I searched the REX forums, and found a reply (albeit referring to FSX) saying that the addon airport textures would not be effected.I can't wait for it to be realeased.I am using the utterly brilliant freeware HD cloud textures (can't remember their name), but I have a feeling the REX is going to be brilliant.I will probably still use ASA, as it mostly works for me now (ever since I learned how to up the cloud coverage in the FS9.cfg file). ASA's wind (gusts) depiction is great. Using the REX textures and ASA will hopefully be a dream!Neil

Don't worry, Steve! It should only affect sceneries using default textures. Most payware (and quality freeware) airports have their own custom runways, taxiwats, etc. So there will be no interaction. The REX interface generally looks very rich, so I guess we would anyway be quite comfortable with choosing whatever options we want.Including the real world weather engine. But maybe Tim will come here for a while and make things completely clear.

Me too. I already own REX for FSX, can't wait to get some REX-loving for my preferred sim of choice though :)

The interface looks excellent but it's venturing into areas that I already have covered like flight planning (vRoute and FSNav) and weather generation (ASv6.5). I thought it was a texture replacement program.Having these additional features will unfortunately push the price up but if the textures are as good in reality as they appear in the screenshots it may become a must-have.Hopefully it will be released before Christmas - this year of course! :(

Thank you sir, I think you will have a great dinosaur to play with for Christmas no doubt.

chickster, it's built-in yes, BUT you are in no way obligated to use it. You will have that option. The environment experience alone will be worth the ticket price. Though it wouldn't hurt to give the weather engine a try, you might be pleasantly surprised.Steve, I believe Rafal said it best. Also, there is much more than enhancements to general airports available in REX.Paul and Mack, thank you for your support guys. Ray, there is much this program offers. More on pricing and release info soon.Cheers everyone and thank you for your interest. :(

I'd say I'm about 90% certain of buying REX for FS9. I'm just one of those types that has to wait and see how a product turns out first, but this looks very promising.
