December 17, 200916 yr Flight1 Aviation Technologies (Flight1 Tech) have entered into an intellectual property license agreement for the Microsoft ESP v1.0 object code PC-based visual simulation software development platform. This agreement gives Flight1 Tech access to ESP's powerful simulation technology enabling the company to create detailed, customized flight safety, flight training and strategic solutions for their customers.Flight1 Tech's launch product available as an ESP embedded solution is their Vispro (Virtual Instructor Station Pro) instructor station. http://flight1tech.com/vispro-site/. VisPro is AATD compliant and can be used as part of an FAA approved training device. The official Microsoft / Flight1 Tech press release is available here:http://www.flight1tech.com/press/msflight1pressrelease.pdfAnother instance of MS licensing ESP for a NON ENTERTAINMENT use, as ever i remain hopeful that they will proceed with another " Entertainment " title based on the FS platform.C.JodryExtremely good news! Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 17, 200916 yr Commercial Member That license is extremely restrictive. They can not use it to develop absolutely anything in the 'entertainment' realm, which includes anything FSX compatible.So... given that Microsoft is being extremely tight with regards to FS development... I'd say it may resurface in the future. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69

Flight1 Tech products are not entertainment based.Besides, I am not sure how you are able to decipher licensing criteria if you are not licensed. Jim

JimI think most people don't realize that you are not part of the Flight1 group that develops Addons for FSX, and many people read this and expected this agreement would allow Flight1 as a whole better access to the code so they could develop even better addons for FSX that would be sold to the public.Kind of misleading story actually. Perhaps should have included more detail on Why you would have entered into such an agreement. Tom Perry

Have to agree with others who hope for a future entertainment title but it would seem to be wishful thinking as this time.At any rate, well done my friend. :(
December 18, 200916 yr Perhaps should have included more detail on Why you would have entered into such an agreement. It is pretty well spelled out in the press release. Did you read it?BTW, I see nothing confusing here. Michael J.
December 18, 200916 yr Commercial Member It is pretty well spelled out in the press release. Did you read it?BTW, I see nothing confusing here. But how is this any different than ever other ESP agreement? They haven't had press releases...except for LM.I 'm a little confused...what's the difference. :(
December 18, 200916 yr But how is this any different than ever other ESP agreement?Does there have to be a difference???LM is different than F1 that's for sure :( Michael J.
December 18, 200916 yr This is different than folks just buying "seats" in the past in that Flight1 didn't buy a specific number of seats (because we aren't selling/supporting those anymore - since it's basically just me and my boss left at this point :-< ), they bought a one-time license to use the ESP v1 run-time for commercial use.Congrats to Jim and company, good luck with this endeavor (I might need a job in about 9 months :-> ).Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com

I am exactly the same person that you say I am not. Anyone that knows me knows Flight1 Software and Flight1 tech are related and I wear both hats + my partner Steve Halpern. ESP is strictly for commercial use. FSX is strictly for entertainment use. So in short, this license is strategically in place for the commercial sector. Period. That is what the license expects of us.But Tim, yeah... if things look weak after your 9 mo stay, certainly call me.Thanks again.Jim
December 18, 200916 yr I was thinking since Flight1 is now getting into the ESP code game that Aerosoft may want to follow suite. Why build a whole new sim when they can piggy back off of ESP's foundation and take it farther?
