Why no Detroit flight discussion?

Featured Replies

I flew out of Schiphol this past October and I wasn't frisked. What made the trip to Europe even stranger is Germany didn't even bother to stamp mine or my coworkers passports after we originally arrived in Frankfort.

by all means... they do profile.
They clearly have limited understanding of what profiling is if they are going to be subjecting grandmothers to new 'pat-down' procedures before boarding as the latest TSA directives require. They may be 'profiling' as far as no-fly list is concerned but that is hardly enough. Again - PC is alive and well.

I continue with the opinion that dogs trained to alert on the scent of explosives should be added to the airport screening process. The dogs should be walked past the passengers lined up for the metal detectors and carry on/shoe X-ray. I suspect for the next several years, possibly a decade or two, properly trained dogs will be a more economical option than any sort of artificial sniffer technology.
The only problem I have with this one is, what about the people who are allergic to dogs, like myself, for instance.

Your kidding right???And if your dead serious.... then you can get this over the counter before you gotta get sniffed by the bomb sniffing dogs for a whole 2 seconds, who by the way, may save you from going down in a blaze of glory if a jihadest gets on your plane with some C4JB

LOL!Sorry guys, but we can't profile people because we might hurt muslims' feelings, and we can't have trained dogs because we'd be violating the civil liberties of those with allergies!?We have no one to blame for this stupidity but ourselves. It's time to man up and confront the real threat. We can start by putting an end to this "man-made disaster" type of PC nonsense. It is, in fact, a Global War on Terrorism despite what "the current administration" would have you believe.

Dear NickOne thread about the Detroit incident has already had to be shut down because it went political and Geoff has already requested that we keep the politics out of the discussion of aviation issues connected with what happened the other day.Your last comments can only really lead to other people either agreeing or disagreeing with your criticism of the present Administration and your opinion of a particular religious group - which has no place on these forums. Please respect Geoff's last comment and remember that we are all guests on a private forum here; this isn't a public place where we're entitled to exercise a constitutional right to free speech. These are interesting forums for people interested in aviation, both real and simulated; please help us to keep it that way. Many thanksBrian

Dear Brian,I notice you don't seem to have a problem with comments by previous posters stating such wonderfully subjective comments as:"I respect the current administration because they are bright...","...will also fight if they feel they are right...","...this administration is very good turn in the right direction...","...they are positive and motivated enough to keep thier heads up in the process.","...he has a good staff of well experienced Joint Chiefs...and...he respects thier ideas and decisions.", and;"...a great leader is one who is able to select and delegate to the best people, which I think he has done very well with."Geoff - or any Avsim Moderator for that matter - can take whatever action they feel is necessary, if any. I am under no illusion that my comments have protected status here, and I'm fully aware of whose house I am a guest in. All that being said, and while I appreciate the politeness of your response/request, I must respectfully tell you that I couldn't care less whether you think my comments are polarizing, political, divisive, or any combination thereof. A spade is a spade, and the sooner we're able to stop pretending that it isn't, the better off everyone will be.

The real threat is failure to do one's job correctly. No more, no less.What... doesn't fit a political agenda? Shame. The reality of it all is that had people done their jobs correctly, terrorists would have been stopped. Without profiling, without trained dogs, without strip searches, without 'no-fly-lists'. This isn't about politics and it's time people stopped claiming it is. It's about doing one's job fully and correctly.

Those are the words I was looking for.

People failing to do their jobs leads to political discussion because US Taxpayers are paying TSA Personel to do their jobs which are subject to this Administration. If this Administration does nothing but "investigate" then more folks will die and the Administration will be held to account by American Citizens.By the way, this is aviation related because every commercial flight we take since 9/11 puts us all thru the idiotic procedures forced upon us by Terrorists.Ask your wives and daughters how they feel about "personal patdowns" in order to go on vacation and I'm sure they will "enlighten you" on what is "politically correct". :(

"People failing to do their jobs leads to political discussion" I agree-but since we try to keep this site about flight simming and not politics or religion I think it is time to shut this thread again down-since it leads to politics! :(
