February 18, 201115 yr I notice when acceding/descending trough 1530 feet, the water/pattern 'instantley' changes direction.. sort of from Long to Lat if that makes sence?. I switched back to sm3 v1.5 and then tried the default sp2 shader and it's ok again! followed the instuction of clearing cache etc... maybe a slight varable adjustment needed?! .........DaveKay. Change the above value in all instances to be the same AND don't forget to FLUSH the shader cache so it is compiled again and the changes applied.
February 19, 201115 yr Hi, yes you can adjust the WaterConstants.xml file and look for the entry: <fWaterBumpRotation>45.000</fWaterBumpRotation>The above, is the direction in degrees. Change the above value in all instances to be the same AND don't forget to FLUSH the shader cache so it is compiled again and the changes applied. I see the value within the <Elevation>MID</Elevation> section shows a value 90 (<fWaterBumpRotation>90.000</fWaterBumpRotation). I'll change it to 45.000 as advised. Thanks for looking into this so quickly! .........DaveKay. Asus M4N78 pro, EVGA460SC, 4gb DD2, 3.4ghz AMD Phenom II.
February 19, 201115 yr Maybe a dumb question- how does Shader 3.0 work or interact with the EMB mod, or are these totally different and non-independent mods to FSX.Thanks, Bruce ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
February 25, 201115 yr Hi *******,I'm having a problem with the shader 3 mod uninstaller. Getting error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".Can you help? Need to remove this mod from my FSX installation, it won't stop crashing FSX since I installed it and I don't like the effects (lights seen thru cockpit, no more wave animations, bad looking water reflections...I guess I'll wait for a later release, it does look promising, but not for me at this time, sorry. So, any idea regarding the uninstall error ?
February 25, 201115 yr Author So, any idea regarding the uninstall error ?The install and un-install routines execute a .vbs script. In fact, its the same script. What I don't understand is 'how' you were able to install it in the first place. Probably you did a manual installation? You can also try to make sure that .vbs extension files are configured to be executed with the microsoft script engine (this is the default setting)yet another alternative is to look in your FSX folder and look for the shader 3 mod backup folder and rename it to ShadersHLSL, same thing for the Waterconstants.xml file. What puzzles me is how you managed to install the mod in the first place... also the problems you describe (lights seen thru cockpit) does not have anything to do with the Shader 3 mod. this *IS* a problem with the bloom setting in FSX. reflections and animations *CAN* (in fact, they have to) be tweaked, this is all documented iam and dicussed in this forum.

I was able to uninstall the mod using the windows add remove programs... strange.Regarding the see-through lights/sun, that's weird, this issue began when I installed the SH3 mod and went away after removing it.Cheers!
March 18, 201115 yr Hi *******! thanks for your work! Is a bit of time that I see when I open the simulator with your shadermod3 (both the old version that this version 1.6)that I have the plane in pieces! I tried to flush the cache, butno results. So I uninstalled the mod, then I rebooted fsx and everything is back to normal. Then I tried reinstalling the mod and it worked at first start of FSX, but the second time I had the same effect of plane in pieces. Do you have any idea for this problem? Thank you! Paolo
March 18, 201115 yr You aren't flushing the cache, Pablo. You say you "tried to flush the cache". What does this mean? You either did flush the cache - or you didn't. To get around it -the answer is to just delete the cache folders manually - then you know for certain they are gone. FSX will rebuild them the next time it's started. Also - make sure you have deleted the fsx.cfg line: [GRAPHICS]SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=xxx(your numbers here) i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

March 22, 201115 yr I tried using this shader a few times but was never able to get a result that I was happy with until now. I'm using REX2 and had issues with the wave animations (there never seemed to be any wave movement and a big turnoff was I never saw any wave undulation). I started tweaking the file was able to get animations that I'm happy with and also happy to report that I'm getting some improved smoothness in sceneries where I was experiencing some stuttering. There also seems to be some slight performance gain.I'm using the "Speculation [OD]" scheme in REX2 and thought I'd post my settings for those interested but also eager to hear feedback on these settings. Running AMD 6950 flashed to 6970. March 31, 201115 yr Hi *******,I just wanted to say 'Thank You' for this great utility ! I Installed the latest version (after stumbling across this post), with the default config, and I've seen a significant performance increase with REX clouds using a single Radeon 5770 with 3 screen Eyefinity. It was really only dense clouds that had been causing me a frame rate problem. Now its no problem. I will try the REX Overdrive update this weekend and see how it is.Thank you so much for your excellent piece of work and let me know if you need me to test anything with my Radeon Sapphire Flex 5770 which I think is a great card for the money and Eyefinity is awesome !Freddy.Intel Quad Core, Win7 64-bit, Radeon 5770 3-screen Eyefinity(4320X90), REX, GEX Europe, FSG2010, VRinsight Multipanel.
March 31, 201115 yr I've been using *******'s tweaks since...forever. But until now and thanks to Wallydog,(copied your settings, made a new WaterConstants.XML) I have seen the sea MOVE! :( What I saw before was pretty enough I guess, I use REX2 and often thought 'Water animations, what water animations?' Now I know 'what water animations' :Party:Soo bloody perb! The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
