June 18, 201015 yr I read somewhere on FSX forums that i7-980 brings FSDT JFK with 100% AI to its knees with average 20-30FPS without OC. Maybe I will risk and make myself a present for Christmass. :( 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
June 19, 201015 yr Thanks for your insights. If new addons were developed for FS9 (eg PMDG) I would not even ask the question.I think I will stick to my system for one more year.Maybe I'll look at upgrading the CPU. I have a E6750 at 2.66 MHz. Maybe I can find something more powerful?ThanksGhiom
June 19, 201015 yr Commercial Member Glad to hear of another success story!I still dream of the day I can fly the PMDG JS41 into JFK with 3d clouds and some AI : ) Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
June 19, 201015 yr As long as FSX requires the equivalent of a degree in Computer Science to make it work satisfactorily, I think there will be many of us lay people who will continue to fly FS9.And that disregards the impact of the very large capital investment to make such a transition.Alex Reid

Have you considered overclocking your CPU. IF you can get it to 3.85 or beyond you should be able to fly anything anywhere. Also did you follow this when you set up http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...-how-to-tune-it . There might be some usefull info to help get you more performance. And maybe another 50 or so simply reinstalling/rebooting/reinstalling multiple times. Currently, I do not want to overclock. I'm having to water down my effects and graphics to below FS9 levels for any kind of performance increase, which is not worth it to me.(So, I guess you can say I'm still "in transition" - but holy cow, an expensive one). June 19, 201015 yr Moderator And yet here I am with proof to the contrary.I wonder why? Have your followed Nicks guide or tried the tweaks of ******* that are posted in the FSX forum. It's a mystery to my how the original poster of this thread is running a 3 year old QX9650 and is getting great performance, i'm running a 2-3 year old E8400 and am also getting great performance, and you have a newer and faster CPU with more/faster RAM and struggle. The only thing I can think that is hurting you is the SLI set up or there is something else going on. But given the fact that your struggling with your setup its no wonder some people are fed up with FSX. If I had your setup and couldn't get it to work well I would be mad as heck, even madder if I was the fellow a few posts back who spent $4000 and isn't satisfied. I wonder if it has anything to do with the video card your running. Do you have another card from an older system you could put in it to try? I used to run an 8800 GTS 512 that surprisingly worked pretty well on my rig, before I changed to the card I have right now. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

June 19, 201015 yr I agree! That video card has got to go. Then re-tune! Re-tweak!ATI cards and FSX are not a good match. MSFS
June 19, 201015 yr Commercial Member Well unfortunately I don't have the money or resources (time) to swap the video card, so I'm sort of bound to what I have. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

Guess I'm stubborn like that.Thanks. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
