Whatever as it doesn't matter to me either way.I was really just pointing out that there was a new forum to discuss Flight in case anyone was interested.Todd

I realize I posted earlier – Oh that’s obviously a rendered movie. But…I’ve looked a little closer…and honestly I am thrown - I can’t decide.Personally I think if you take state of the art run-time rendering and some very talented folks you might be able to make that shot.If they did – Wow!To me, the plane looks just a little bit like it was composited in.And the flight path works a little too well with the composition as the sunset becomes visible. So who really knows? Either way:)What I do really-really like is they’ve got a “One Six Right” sort of feel. From the narration, the music, even the titles. If you’re familiar with that movie - I think you’d agree that’s a great direction for Flight.I hope the team watches it once a month.I don’t have any fear they’ll make an arcade flying game, because MS wants to make more money not less.If you really think MS can make more money with this property going arcade – keep your day job and don’t go into games :)For us fans the debate is old as dirt, and it’ll be around years more.Walking around Oshkosh you might get the idea MS could grow this audience. The romance of flight has a broader appeal than programming FMC’s.But MS never gave us FMC’s anyway….that’s never been their priority... hope it stays that way.Any notion they’d reject their core audience is foolish.Worried this teaser is for the ‘XBOX’ crowd?Try and look at Flight from the ‘XBOX‘ point of view. There’s absolutely nothing there for them.If you’re familiar with the jargon it’s called; ‘Epic Fail’, or ‘pwned’,or just ‘cakemix has left the game’.But for me, I look, it’s like I want that...nowIn my eyes, it’s trying to appeal to that dormant aviation fan.Ask yourself who watched all the way through, and who watched more than once. That’s the audience.(8times)For the Flight team - congratulations :)The clip looks amazing – I want it, you’re on the right track.Don’t kill yourselves. All those little victories, you wonder who’s going to notice.Well, we do. And they’re all really appreciated. :)I

awaiting "Microsoft Flight" developers to throw some light on this new project , here on Avsim ForumsWe have a 2 very simple questions:1. Is it a Simulator or just a Game2. When is the expected Launch Date.

No one even seemed to bother to verify the date before copying the article and posting it on their own websites. It read 2009, which is unmistakable a typo....Since now the MS article has August 17th 2010 in the article. Still...checking the text before blindly copying should be mandatory rolleyes.gif
I saw the date, didn't care as it was clearly a typo and I choose not to edit it for Microsoft when I posted this thread.

I hate to be a party pooper but evidently no one is reading the last paragraph of the press release. This is goning to be a "Windows Live" release. You won't be buying software you will be buying time on their site to participate. Also looks like they have knocked the developers out of the game as you will only be able to purchase "Updates" from the game site. They will now have total control and you will be totally at their mercy. I think FSX and FS9 will be around for a long time to come. Ubisoft did this with Silent Hunter and I don't believe it has gone over very well. It's a double hit as you pay to participate and you pay for the bandwidth. Hop I am wrong but thats the way I read it. :(

And evidently you have not read this thread because this matter has been discussed several times already. Live is a social networking and content delivery service for PC games, not pay to play system. You don't even have to be logged online to play.As for the idea that teaser trailer shows us ingame shots, I'm very skeptical. For most if not all games nowadays, such early trailers are just prerendered CGI movies, that are made to show what the game is about, not how it looks.

A2A Simulations

Games for Xbox360 include Microsoft Live games in which you buy the game, agree to their conditions if you want to play online and figure this is how their pc lineup will go. as for 3rd party addons, could be that microsoft will want 30 cents from every dollar that the developer sells. this is how it works on the 360. figure they are using lot of the stuff that is presently used on the 360 but could go differently.

I hope I'm not out of line posting a screenie, but checkout the shadows:

I wouldn't be surprisied if it were rendered in game. I'm just comparing the dual GPU monster I've got now with the fairly modest rig I had when FS9 was released, and I'm thinking "Project the trajectory!" Looking at how far hardware has come in the last seven years and I think this kind of rendering seems conceivable.

The teaser is made of computer-generated images based on real film. That's a marketing product, not an in-game product.
Yes. I confirm this. I see "interlaced" artifacts on water. The water and embiont have NOT computer render in this film! More live films from camcoders have "interlace" artifacts.

I think we can expect great things from MS Flight. Casting a glance over the development of the franchise over the course of so many years you can't ignore the sheer increment in quality and features. Have a quick look at what RockStar have done with GTA and Red Dead Redemption for an example of the sort of progressive increment I'm talking about. Project the trajectory.
