I'd like to post a question to the moderators and to the forum group regarding hardware. If this needs to go into a separate thread, perhaps the moderators can tell us that...since the hardware discussion is off topic from the forum topic. Here goes:1) What will be the "optimum" hardware configuration to run the NGX properly, and at what cost (EUROs or USD is fine)?2) What is a good compromise between cost and functionality - understanding that the CPU/MOBO is really at the heart of this issue - and how much would something like that cost?I have my own ideas, but before I go off and spend over USD1000 to upgrade my hardware, I'd like to get a better feel for what will get the job done. Do I upgrade my existing config or buy a new box and build one from scratch?Again, this question pertains to all new aircraft, but especially the PMDG aircraft due to the level of sophistication that will be involved in this new aircraft. What are the group (and moderators) thoughts? Thanks and kind regards to all,Dave Lamb
Dave,It's hard to say completely at this point because development still isn't done. I can tell you I'm getting very good performance on the system I have. I would wait however for the Sandy Bridge i7s vs. building something from the previous generation like what I have. My system is a year old aside from the video card. Basically you want an overclocked i7 though, that gives the best results in FSX.

For all you newcomers who want a release date. PMDG have confirmed that the NGX is going through what is known as a sex change, into a woodpigeon. They state a release of around 2019, and it will only be compatible with fs98. Although there may be some compatibility with flight unlimited 3. Seriously if your so interested in a release date maybe that topic about a release date would grab your attention. Read it and see what RSR has posted on a release then return to this topic and ask a question about the ngx that doesn't concern a release.Rant overI am looking to upgrade my 4gb of ram. Why? 4GB is a hard limit for FSX anyway and I've never seen it use more than 2 or around there total, even with tons of addons and traffic. Assuming you're on a dual channel motherboard, the next level you'd go to is 8GB.

From what PMDG have said, the FPS in the 737 are better than the MD-11, which are better than the J41. ;)

No clue if this is accurate, but if so, wow. The original prices that have been mentioned were good, these would be insane. Glad that I have one about 5 minutes from my house. :( Rumored launch prices for Micro Center.

The MD-11 gets better FPS then the JS41? Doubt, how could that be?Ron Hamilton

It does. The MD11 actually has awesome performance, better than the average payware in my experience.

Really? I didn't know that. Well I'm glad, that means I can fly my NGX out of some airport that I can't wit the jS41Ron Hamilton

Same here, the MD-11 gives me much better FPS than the J41. I don't know if its better than the average payware FPS-wise, I guess it depends what your average payware is. I would be COMPLETELY SATISFIED if the NGX gave me the same FPS as the MD-11.
